Been a long time for me ya'll since I introduced a topic, so here goes.

Please help me with your current opinions or experiences with the LVH. Going in August and found a great deal cost wise, which I'll happily share with everyone here.

We found the inexpensive rate at otel.com for the LVH, formerly Las Vegas Hilton.

It's for 10 days 8/5 to 8/15 and avgs. about $37.43 per day. That's $17.27 per day for the room, plus that killer resort fee of $20.16 per day with tax. This will not be included in the billing by the Hotelier, but you obviously will be paying it later to the property itself. (Too funny, when the resort fee actually exceeds the cost of the room) On the other hand, that's amazing when you consider, this includes a Fri/Sat night weekend stay.

So what am I missing here? Is this the good deal it appears to be, or has this place really went down? YOUR HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

A couple of things about otel.com. First they're in Istanbul, Turkey. So be ware, if you have a credit card which assesses foreign transaction fees, this will kick in. So factor that aspect into your overall costs. But they do have a free reasonable 72 Hr cancellation policy.

Also can anyone help with some rental car promo codes, or recommendations for who to deal with.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

I'm a LVH fan. Currently sleeping in one of their rooms tonight. It's not the Bellagio, but for that price you can't go wrong. Pool is adequate, accommodations fair, and the elevators seem to be working again ;). Just remember - it's not on the strip. You'll have to cab it or take the monorail.

Have you used that 3rd party booking site before? When I started reading, I thought otel.com was a typo for hotel.com. It would make me nervous using a site in Turkey unless you knew it was legit, so I'd definitely do some checking on that.

Stayed on a comp offer last year that came with a suite upgrade (which ended up being two rooms connected by a little hallway...) -- still, while old, it was well kept and housekeeping did a good job. Internet was included and worked well.

Booked again in October on a comp where the upgrade is now for a renovated room... I am double booked at MB so I'll probably stay there but we'll check out the room anyway. I enjoy the VP there...the slot selection is not awesome... the casino has always been dead since the transition out of Hilton. BUT, I kinda like that. It does get a bit creepy in that big sportsbook at night playing VP if no one is around...but security and drink service came around enough that the one degenerate that came by asking for money was quickly whisked away. I would consider looking at booking with them directly or calling about a casino rate...

Service was good...and they seem to be giving away Raiding the Rock Vault tix like candy...so I would ask about promos as that is worth a night.

    Breanna,

Thanks for your reply. Your question is a very good one. And the answer is no, this is my first time using them. I was directed to them when looking up Vegas Hotel room rates at Tripadvisor.

Plus, they were far cheaper than everyone else/all other competitors listed, which is suspicious.

I saw customer complaints on the net about their foreign transaction fees charged to the credit cards for using them. If that's the only complaint, that at least tells me they are in the hotel business. Considering how much cheaper they were, I am willing to pay that modest foreign transaction fee, which usually runs from 4 to 7%. Again I'm assuming.

I'm not sure what to think. I do think my credit card co. would protect (another assumption) if this proved to be a faulty purchase.

I appreciate your interest and advice. I will keep everyone posted on this one, as to my experience. Thanks again.

    Nick

If you use your Southwest Premier Visa there are no foreign fees.

Thank you for the tip and reply. I was dumb on this one. I actually already have a different card with the feature of no transaction fees. But instead I used one of my cards that does charge.

I didn't realize they were out of Istanbul, until I had already booked. That's definitely not a smart way to do business, not knowing who you're dealing with. But it was 3:00 am in the morning when I booked. I was a little tired and ready for bed.

I guess I could go through the trouble of canceling and re-billing. But if this deal stands up, it will be spectacular, so i'm not really gonna gripe too much. We'll see how it ends up. I'll keep everyone posted, and many thanks again.

The Foreign transaction fee ended up being 2% of the $173 charge to my card, for the 10 days, or about $3.45. For me, that's not a deal breaker, I expected worse. My only complaint is, I didn't know, or wasn't made aware of this fee, till it was basically too late. I could've avoided the fee by using another one of my cards, had I known.

I''m not gonna bust their chops on this one. I'm still happy with the deal, and can't find another hotelier coming close to that deal. That's the only reason I'm still somewhat leery of this company. But I'll keep ya'll posted.

You don't have to cab or take the monorail...depending on age and health.

We stayed there in our late 20's and walked everyday - to all parts of the strip. A good walking pace is going to be about 45 minutes to Flamingo from LVH. That's not a run...but it's not a casual stroll either.

Wife and I stayed there last November, on a random weekend comp mailer...
It was OK, no real place to eat, other than the buffet (great breakfast, which we got comped from the pitboss from playing $5 UTH)
I found it very adequate, but that resort fee is a killer (if i had to pay it)
Just plan on monorailing to the strip (use myvegas for free passes) and hop the bus to downtown, and youll be fine.

Thanks for the myvegas tip for the free monorail passes. Is it that still ongoing? I'm gonna try to check it out. Thank you again.

Of any place in Vegas, LVH is my go-to hotel. Price is right, rooms are fine, great sports book, decent pool, 3-2 BJ and it it doesn't have the rat-race feel of the Strip.
I have my next stay booked there a long football weekend in Sept ($232 total for 4 notes).

To be sure the reservation is on the up and up, why not call LVH directly to confirm they have you booked....and the rate assuming they will give you the rate info.....hope goes well and that you have a fab time!!!
