Just got back from using a one night comp at Aria.
They initially put a $130 hold on my debit card for incidentals, which I have no problem with.
However on checking my bank acct online today, I got charged $63.08 for my stay.
$39 from the "Aria Refreshment Center" which I'm assuming is the mini bar in the room. I never even opened the stupid thing!
The other charge is the resort fee.
Going to call them and try to get this fixed, but I'm still irritated as this was my 1st time ever staying there. Probably my last.

    Carry on

I would do both, it took me 3 weeks to get a charge from the Silver Sevens removed, and my credit card company was powerless, because it was a room through the player club points. I called about every 3 days.

That site and e-mail address are for a 3rd party planner. I had a similar issue on my first Monte Carlo comp stay and called VIP services...fixed very quickly.

If you are on Twitter, send them a public tweet saying they overcharged you and to send you a pm. They'll get back to you quick as they don't want the bad publicity. They are @AriaLV

I've had countless phantom minibar charges upon initial checkout only to have them reversed a couple days later.

Here's what happens: the computer in the fridge or counter tells their system something was removed. Really it may have just been me shutting the door to the fridge too hard or something causing the sensor to go off. Housekeeping refreshes the room after I checkout and provides correct inventory back to their system. A day later the charges are then reversed.

I always find posts like this disappointing... using words like "looks like Aria screwed me" and "1st time staying there, probably last"... it sounds like you haven't even given them a chance to do the right thing yet and you're using such negative words. Did you not check-out? Even on the TV screen? if so, you'd have seen those charges and been able to deal with them right there. I'm sure they'll reverse the mini-bar charges. I've had similar occurrences at the Hard Rock and they reverse them off my bill, no questions asked. In fact, it was so easy, I wonder how often they get taken advantage of...

I don't know what Aria's policy with regards to the resort fee on a comped room (some places still charge it and others waive it), but even if they do charge it, you just stayed in one of the finest hotel/casinos in the world and you'll go elsewhere cause you paid a $24+/- resort fee? Well I guess, you're not alone... many here get really worked up over the fee, but I feel like even if you end up charged the resort fee... a $24 room night at Aria is a damn good deal.

I hope your dispute goes in your favor, I really do... stuff happens in these big places, but give them the opportunity to do the right thing. I like the twitter idea posted.

    ^ I'll 2nd this line of thought.

We have stayed at the Aria several times and always been treated very well.

Give them a chance to resolve - I bet they make it up to you and more

The one time I stayed there, also comped via MyVegas, I was hit with a $9.99 room refresh fee. I know its because I was playing around with the remote control for the room (very cool btw) and hit the button that "refreshes" the room as if you walked into it for the first time. Terminology might be wrong. I can't remember.

...I had a point to this story...oh yeah.. I realized it when I got home and saw the bill but I didn't feel like getting involved for $9.99. But you have to be careful with those random fees. Anyway, I liked the Aria a lot and would not let something like that stop me from staying there again. I am sure something like this or similar stories can happen anywhere.

We stayed on a myvegas comp and paid the 25 resort fee. Aria was well worth the 25$ investment.

Shouldn't you give them a chance to correct their mistake before bashing? Especially since they are very well known and reviewed.

I know one of the last places I stayed with a resort fee, I had to actually acknowledge it by initialing a box at check-in that I would be assessed that fee. Not sure if Aria does that or not.

Would doing the right thing be not charging customers for things they didn't buy?

I agree, give Aria a chance to correct the problem. I've had mini bar charges appear at many hotels, Vegas and elsewhere, and in Vegas, they've always been removed with no hassel at all. I would definitely change the thread title as it is misleading.

Definitely RF, but closing the door will set off the sensor at times and it is our responsibility to review our hotel charges when we leave. If they didn't appear when OP left, who knows what happened but I'd be very surprised if Aria didn't reverse them as soon as OP brings it to their attention. Shit happens and to say you got "screwed" before even bringing to to the hotels attention isn't factual.

Would it be right to assume they meant to charge for things that the customer did not buy?

This could easily just be a mistake (humans make mistakes).

As to the OP - I agree with others that terms like "screwed me" and "will not stay again" are just wrong.

Why do so many assume the hotel is trying to screw the customer. Makes me sad.

I agree with giving the property a chance to resolve. I don't know that calling them out on Twitter or going to the meetings (?) team would be the most direct means of getting a quality response. I suspect that would add steps and people to the process unnecessarily. Call the property. Tell them you have an incorrect charge. Start there.
