Does anyone have a good app to be used in Las Vegas? I know that there are multitudes of them but would be hoping to have a usable one. (Casino layouts, foods, hints, sights, side trips). Ios or Android.

If I had an IOS, I'd get VegasMate.

Or better yet, I'm an iOS App Developer, anyone have an idea for a fun/useful Vegas app that I could build?
I'd love to build one, and then let everyone here use it for free.

I would love to do an app for VMB, but I lack the technical skills and the free time.

    I would include:
    • the ability to rate & review hotels/restaurants/clubs/etc
    • maps (and casino maps if avail)
    • Locations and phone numbers
    • Maybe some helpful info like blackjack strategy, vp strategy, etc
    • And a big fat link to the mobile version of the new board we're getting this weekend. :)

Tapatalk to access this board is most important to me. Nearly everything I need to know about Vegas is either here or linked from here, and it's searchable. Plus it proved to work great for real time communication to make sure everyone at the Easter Boar's Head meet up actually met up. Users like jdvegas have made some epic live trip reports using it with the Tapatalk pictures account.

New board will still be compatible with it, Sonya?

I agree... though Hard Rock is home base for me, I often schedule client meetings and like to do them throughout town to check places out. Vegas Indoor Maps allows me to easily navigate the properties to which I'm not super familiar.

I'd like an app to track my play - wins, losses, where, when.

I just downloaded something called "easy balance" for that purpose on this trip. But a vegas/gambling-centric app would be nice.

I noticed VegasMate does not provide updates often enough to be current on restaurants, clubs, etc. I prefer the individual MLife property apps for current information.

Also, as a earlier poster mentioned, Vegas Indoor Maps app is good.

I have an idea for the developer...

Pair with VPFree2 and an indoor map developer and gps the locations of the machines they list, so we can find them easily...just a thought...

if not that detailed, at least an app that works well with the data from VPFree2, its a bit cumbersome site on an iPhone

you could do the same for slot players, so they could geotag their favorite machines, and comeback to them easily later on.

Wow, lots of great ideas here. My original plans was to do a hotel one, where you could grade the room based on location, view, distance to the elevator etc. But there are so many great ideas here I may have to add some in. I've been working recently with iBeacon and was considering building a demo app and trying to talk to someone at the hotel companies to see if they'd be interested in that. I plan on building some of the app while in Vegas, sounds lame I know but I love working from there.

I have VegasMate and VegasLists, I would just get VegasMate... It's kinda glitchy, but it's good for keeping track of what you wanna do on your trip. Like if I'm listening to a podcast or reading on here and I see something I'm interested in I plug it into my app. I've found planning my trips make them MUCH more successful and fun than totally winging it..

VegasLists is useless to me. If you have VegasMate you don't need it.

Definitely download the app of the hotel you are staying at. A lot of the giant hotels have maps, like it can give you walking directions where you wanna go (I know V/P has that). I wish MGM would just have a big Mlife app with all the properties instead of having to download one for each place. The new Caesars app is pretty neat..

Just out of curiosity, when building a general app like this I assume you have to access some DB in order to gather data or input data for tracking?
How does this work with these types of Apps?
Is there a global app of sorts?
If there is a DB where is it hosted?

VegasMate yes... same for Vegas Indoor Maps... and I also like the USA Today Vegas app...surprisingly good for the entertainment calendar when you search by a date series...some of the lists on there are stupid, but otherwise I have found it at least novel.

(...it was funny to me that I read DB as ******bag in the previous post...I know you meant database but still...I made myself laugh)
