That is a mystery to me. Both are fine complexes but Wynnecore is a step above everything else in Vegas IMO.

AAA Ratings don't really matter IMHO. Small things like not having 24 hour room service can make you drop from a 5 Diamond to 4 Diamond property. The only ratings that I actually trust (somewhat) are the Michelin Star ratings, which reviews the hard product and soft product of a certain property.

It's been noted somewhere that the only 5 star hotels are V/P, W/E, Bellagio and Aria. MGM Skylofts are in the mix as well.

It amazes us that the Cosmo is four star rated Hotel, and right across the street is PHo, another four star rated Hotel, and the two are not even close to being an Apples to Apples Match... :rolleyes2:

Did Sheldon recently purchase AAA to stick it to Steve?

    Wynn/Encore >> V/P
    Cosmo >>>>>>>>> PHo

Something happened with Wynn last year and they wouldn't cooperate with AAA in some way, leading to the 4 Diamond. There were some blog posts about it with no specific details. As for V/P, they are definitely only 4 Star. Cosmo is 4 Star and 4 Diamond but PH is not on either list.

Cosmo has a lot more going for it in terms of restaurants, physical property, design etc.

They drop dramatically in the service aspect on the hotel side which is calculated into the mix for ratings.
Maybe the new owners will figure out how to upgrade that.

Of course Diamonds matter to a property... What a silly thing to say.

When Wynncore dropped a diamond, you can be sure they lost some of their higher-end clientele. They acted as if it wasn't a big deal, but for those of us who travel constantly, spend accordingly and keep up with ratings on a property, it's a HUGE deal.

It's one of many reasons I don't stay at Wynncore anymore: They've lost their touch and cater to bratty club kids. It's Mandarin Oriental for me now.
