How busy will it be

We've decided to go spring break next year, the week of March 15. Taking our teens (14 and 16 by then) and this way they won't miss any school, we've never gone on March before but I know many of you have. How busy should we expect it to be at that time? I mean the whole country doesn't have spring break at the same time right?

Please no lectures about taking the kids, we took them 5 years ago so it's all good. Just wondering about crowds and such. Thank you!

 

The crowds aren't too bad. Las Vegas can absorb tons of people with no problems. You'll have a great time. March & October are my favorite times of year to go.

 

It will be busy enough to be a lot of fun. According to locals I know the only time the strip is a real pain to navigate is NYE or 5pm on any day as that's when all the housekeeping staff do a mass exodus. Of course, I'm sure there can be exceptions to the rule.

 

That week just happens to be opening week of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. First round games start on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The majority of the fans arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. The busiest time will be between Wednesday, March 18, and Saturday, March 21.
FYI - it's a very busy time in Las Vegas and hotel rates are significantly higher Thursday through Saturday nights. We have been in Vegas for the NCAA tourney for the past 13+ years, and the event continues to draw more and more visitors each year. We always travel Tuesday through the following Monday to avoid missing any of the games.
Book your accommodations and airfare early to avoid paying ridiculous prices.

 

We go in march every year. It's not too bad. The only exception was a few years ago we had spring break, final 4 and st patties day. It was a mad house.

 

+1 on this... and March is a pretty significant conference and convention month as well, but the weather is usually perfect, for me anyways.

 

by all means, take those kids. our promised trip as a 21 year old for our daughter was that trifecta of spring break, st patty's and the first four days of the ncaa tourney. we had a great time, with the kids during the day, then they went clubbing at night, including my daughter, dressed like a girl going to a club apparently dresses.

this was just after the drug gang violence in mexico had really broken out. driver told us that the prior year, kids had come to las vegas instead, and then this year...2011, they had went home and told their friends how much fun it was.

second story, about how you told college girls apart from hookers. if you thought it was probably a college girl from the way she dressed, she was a hooker. if you thought from her dress that she was a hooker, she was a college girl.

so, if your kids are boys, i do not know of any better way to motivate them to go to college than to take them to spring break!

 

We always have a March trip during MM. This year was opening week games. There were also several conventions in town & in our hotel. Yes, it was busy but not as bad as we expected since some previous trips were for the finals & all the sportsbooks were pretty crowded. The lines for the restaurants were longer than usual at some CET locations but since we are Diamond cardholders, were able to go right in. Some folks waited quite a long time I'm sure. Other than that, you might not notice a difference in the crowds. Happy planning!!

 

Spring Break is pretty busy, but that goes for most of March and April... just lots of stuff going on. With Vegas, it's so big, and the properties are so large.. it's really never an issue. I've only been once or twice when I thought WOAH it's really busy. I wouldn't worry too much.

I have so much time to plan – I want to make sure the kids keep busy so there will be several shows on the agenda and possibly a trip to Hoover Dam.

Our girl will be 14 and our boy will be 16…so I’m sure he will enjoy Vegas much more this time around than he did when he was 10 (haha). I won’t be able to cover his eyes like I did back then…especially since he’s about twice my size. My daughter likes the shopping aspect of it – even though we don’t buy much. Oh yeah…and the food. Both of them have very hearty appetites.

Should be interesting. We would leave Sunday and stay 4 nights, leaving Thursday. We’ve always worked through all of our kids’ spring breaks so it’s about time we take them somewhere fun and spend the week together. I can’t wait! Soooooooo far away.

In the meantime I’m playing the hell out of MyVegas and posting like crazy on Social Rewards. We saved SO much money a few weeks ago in Vegas from them. Since there will be 4 of us this time, I will need about twice as much free stuff!

 

I'd avoid staying at the MGM Grand. I was there two years ago during the Tourney and it was really busy... Fortunately, I was staying at Aria, where it was a lot more quiet.

 

CET has filled my rate calendar with a bunch of comps since our trip a few weeks ago. I hope they continue to feel as generous as time passes. I think the kids would enjoy Planet Hollywood...with the shops and lots of places to eat downstairs. Either there or Paris...I like the Paris casino. Normally we stay with MLife but I'd rather stay more mid-strip. If Mirage or Bellagio offered comps I'd consider there as well.
