So I've been to Vegas probably 15 times in the last year and a half, but almost all of those trips were last minute drunken southwest bookings for two nights (sometimes just one)...

This time around I'm actually having my brother and uncle come out for fourth of July weekend so I have to do a little planning apparently and I am lost.

I can go two ways basically

Aria for three nights in a queen room will run about $700 on 4th of July weekend

    OR

I can get one of my total rewards discounts and Flamingo will be half that around $300-$350

I'm leaning towards Aria since I have never stayed there and it may just be worthwhile since my brother has never been to Vegas and my uncle only has been once.

Are there any other options that I'm missing as far as looking for deals/discounts? I get stuff in the mail all the time and emails...should I call mlife or something will that get me different offers?

From your experience what's the best way to book? Direct mlife? Phone call? or a third party site?

    Thanks all

    Several questions:
    Are you an MLife cardholder?

Have you played at any of their casinos.
If so,you could try calling and asking for discounts.

Aria is a great property and on the other end of the spectrum from Flamingo.

To me,for a several day stay,it is worth it and a good choice.
When I try a new property,I always book direct.keep your eye on the prices and you can call for a price cut if it drops.
Check the website and then call to see if you can do better with discounts like AAA,military ,etc.

    Hello Nittany,

Yes I do hold a mlife card but most of the times my limited play (random blackjack and slots) have been focused on total rewards properties.

I'm leaning towards your point of view, because of the longer stay and nicer property to go ahead and go with Aria. The only play I have there is quarter slots while waiting at the poker room for a seat.

There's about a $200 difference when booking directly with the website and my mlife account. I will give them a call and see if I can do better.

I watched some youtube videos of the flamingo rooms and even though they are renovated they leave for something to be desired.

I do like their location and ease of access to the strip though.

Definitely call the VIP service line to see what they can do for you. 866-359-7778. It will take just a minute - let your fingers do the walking!

I have stayed at both properties, and they are WORLDS apart in terms of quality and comfort. Aria is definitely worth the extra money in my opinion. I took a couple of Vegas Virgins to Aria last year and they loved it.

I expect others to disagree about spending the extra money - they would rather save the money for gambling and entertainment. It's a valid argument.

Just called them and a nice lady basically told me it doesn't matter if I book online or with them the only difference is that they don't charge the deposit upfront on the phone and special requests are free to put in (top floor, views etc)

She did say sometimes rates are different online than on the phone since they are assigned different blocks of rooms but she never put in my MLife number to get the specific price I would pay I think she just read off rack rates with a 15% MLife discount

I offered many buying signs but she sounded like I wasn't worth her trouble and to just go online.

Maybe that's just the sales guy in me.

    Book your best deal now.
You can always cancel 48 hours before arrival.
If rates drop, just call and tell them you want the lower price.
A few years ago I called Bellagio twice for rate reductions with no problems.

Actually found what I think is a slightly better offer...3 nights at Aria are about the same price $668 through mlife or through a third party website...difference is through the third party website/code whatever I get $50 a day in resort credit...up to 4 nights for $200 I'm thinking i might book 4 nights if it means getting a $50 resort credit (book the last day so i don't have to check out early etc..)

The only question is how do resort credits work? do you just charge stuff to your room?

The other question is is this is what it states at the time of booking

"Guest's room balance plus a minimum room deposit of $200 is required to register at check-in, and to forego incidental charging privileges.
Guest's room balance plus $130 per day authorization on a valid credit card is required to register, and to access incidental charging privileges. "

I always use my debit card instead of credit cards to book so I rarely take the option to do the $130 per day authorization..if I want the $200 resort credit would I have to have a $130 per day authorization to be able to charge stuff to my room?

    Thanks!

Aria is a great choice and as others have said its superior to Flamingo in every category. To use the resort credit you must have charging privileges to your room but I'm sure one in your group will have a credit card and then it will be no problem what so ever. Then you will just charge stuff to your room and then they will deduct the resort credit before you settle the bill.

Bookied it...actually booked a 4th night as well because of the extra $50 credit....3 nights were $864 and 4 nights were $907! and the $50 resort credit is good for upto 4 nights so basically got a free night!

Maybe it was just an excuse for me to rationalize leaving work thursday instead of friday!
