    My Trip Report

The plan was to go to Vegas for the money may fight the previous week, but my work did not allow it so we decided to go the following week. My two friends (1 Vegas virgin) met me out there. I received an offer for 3 nights comped with $150 FP and $100 resort credit so we decided to stay at the Palazzo. This was my first stay at V/P.

The trip started with me pregaming on the 4.5 hour plane ride as usual. I had 3 beers and 4 gin and tonics. I was messed up when my plane landed. I took the taxi to the hotel and checked in around 8 PM. I took 1k to the HL slots and played the $25-100 per spin top dollar machine. Before I could get a single drink, I was already down 1k. This lady near me won 20k. I went back to the room and got another stack. I loss that really quickly also. Now I am down 2k within 30 min of my trip. So I decide to switch it up and play some BJ for fun just to relax. I buy in for $200 and play $15-25 per hand even though it is 6/5, oh well I'm too lazy to go to a different casino. I swear I only won 2-3 hands. I was done within 15 min. Now I remember why I don't play BJ often.

My friends arrive a few hours later. We go to the bar and take several shots of Hennessey. After drinking, we made our way to the baccarat table on the main floor. I think the limit was $25-50; I can't really remember. I buy in for 2k playing $200-300 a hand. I loss 1k in about 30 min and got pissed off. So I ditch my friends and make my way to the HL room (Salon). I buy in for an additional 3k, playing the $500 min table by myself. This natedogg like boss sits down and takes a marker for 500k. Holly shit, he is betting 20k+ a hand. This guy was really cool. Most bosses I play with are more stern and quiet. We were high-fiving, pounding and cheering when we won. The boss leaves after sometime. I got killed after he left; now I'm down over 7k.

I went back up to the room and grabbed another 3k. I played at this table ($300 min) with 2 other guys from Cali. We were having a blast. These were some fun people, (much younger than the average crowd). At about 7 am, we all cashed out and left. I cashed out 8k so I'm down about 2k. I'll take it for the day. I met my friends up and ate at Grand Luxe. After eating, we went back to the room to sleep.

We woke up around 1 pm. We decide to show my friend the strip so we walked to CP. The weather was not too hot; I think it was about 85-90 F. Once we got to CP, I decided to play HL slots ($10-25 per spin). I loss $500 quick. Now my HL slot addiction is cured; these machines cheat. I wanted to get my moneys worth so I ate a bunch of the little sandwiches in the HL slot lounge area. After CP, we went to Cromwell. It is a very nice, small casino. It reminds me of the Encore with the chandeliers, but not as red. We then made our way to Bellagio and Aria to drink at the slot machines (no HL). We taxi back to the Palazzo to drink some more and gamble. We played baccarat at the $50 min table. I bought in for 2k. I got up a little then got down to 1k. I'm pissed again so I made my way to the HL room. I buy in for another 4k to play at the $500 min table. It's going back and fourth and I ended up cashing out 6k. I got my 1k back.

After gambling, we decide to take my friend to the Cut for steak (my favorite steak house). I got the filet-mignon medium rare. Unfortunately, they did not have the bone-in style. We got a nice bottle of wine also. The bill for 3 people was ~$380. My friend told me this was the best meal he had in his life. After eating, my friend and I go back to the room to chill out. My vegas virgin friend wanted to win his money back so he went downstairs to gamble. We ended up falling asleep at 10-11 pm. We were suppose to go out, but were too tired.

I woke up at 6 am and decided to play baccarat. I'm down about 4k with everything (drinks, gambling). I buy in for $2000 at the $100 min table on the normal floor. This guy I was playing with was not a community player so I started betting against him every hand. I lose my buy in. So I'm down about 6k now. I went back to the room to grab 5k and play in the HL room, $500 min table. It's going back and fourth. I know what my problem was – I wasn’t drunk enough. I ordered several Heinkens and glasses of Hennessey XO. After 4-5 rounds, I'm feeling good. It was funny since the pit boss and dealers loved my "breakfast of champions". After several hours, I'm at 9k. This new dealer comes in and destroys me. 1 hour later, I loss the 9k. Now I'm down 11k. It's not going well so I decide to grab another 5k in the room and pound several glasses of Hen XO at the table. This new dealer was awesome. I killed it betting $500-1500 per hand. After many, many shoes (now 2-3 pm), I cashed out 16k. I'm almost even for the trip. I'm gambled out. I'll call this a win since I was down 11k at one point.

I went to talk to a host to get my rating. The guy was real cool and gave me his card. After talking with my new host, we decide to eat at db Brasserie. I got the beef duo. The short rib was awesome. We got some champagne. The bill came out to ~$360 for 3 people. After eating, we went back to the room to relax. We were going to eat at the Carnevino, but didn't have the appetite. I called my host and he sent a bottle of Dom Perignon (I think it is $350-375 in the room service menu) complimentary. We sipped on champagne and listened to old school hip-hop music. It brought back good times. After chilling out for a bit, we went down stairs to drink some beers and called it a night. My host sent a limo to take us to the airport the next morning.

Overall, it was a fun trip. I got another Vegas virgin addicted to the LV lifestyle. That's 4 people I converted to Vegas junkies.

The casino and hotel was nice. I was surprised since I heard so many negative reviews. However, it was not as nice as the Wynn. I think I will try the Cosmo next since I have $450 in FP.

Sounds like a good trip even though there was a lot of money lost.

I love showing Vegas virgins around.

Sorry about the no pics. I am not a big pic guy. I've been saying this for some time, but I'll try to provide pics on one of these TR.

The natedogg like guy cashed out 700-800k. He had so many 5k chips, it was ridiculous. I remembered his commission was over well 25k by the end of one shoe. He just gave it back for his markers. I saw him the next day and he had about 100-150k in front of him. We pounded fists and he told me to play and even told the pit boss to lower the table limit from 1k to $500. I told him I was going to show my friend the strip and respectively declined. When I came back, he was no where to be found.

Excellent trip / trip report. I loved going hard / all-in on short trips, but now I pace myself as I typically stay 10-14 days.

Sounds like the transition from Slots to Baccarat paid off. I agree w/ your casino assessment (V/P nice, Wynn / Cosmo better) and hope your baccarat play gives you a good level of comps down the road.

I'm typically not phased by large dollar amounts wagered, but I was in the Aria HL room where a table was tossing around $10K & $25K chips like they were reds, and they really had fun playing with the cards (shoving pens through them when they were upset with a hand).

I really like Remy XO too. I have a soft spot for Hen XO since it was my first premium liquor I drank. I wanted to order louis XIII but didn't know if they would give it to me.

Do you know if they serve Hennessy Paradis or Louis XIII at the $500 level? I know they would for sure if you are betting yellows and up.

Ive had louis XIII comped before at paris at the tables and in the old steak house before gordon ramsey. Funny story, my uncle took it as a shot believe it or not lol. The waitress and host had a heart attack.

Also, if you ever see a bottle of louis down to the last drink and you order it, you can take the bottle home with the box. The empty crystal bottles are worth a couple hundred alone.

Great Trip. Really impressive "control", stopping towards the end, relaxing vs. engaging, etc. Obviously you played a ton with 15 hours, so its not like you didn't have plenty of action.

But do you always have that ability to stop even when you have plenty of extra time to play? Or was the comeback giving you that ability?

I have trouble stopping when down or even, when I am in LAS.... But later on, its so much better heading the airport with some sleep vs. in Zombie mode....logic that usually hits me in hindsight only.

That's a good question. If I would have loss rather than breaking even on my last buy in, I would have got more money and played more until I was even or up. After drinking Dom, I wanted to play, but figured I chill out since I was so dead. It's difficult to stop playing when I have extra time unless I win real big.
