I'm always wondering about the comps other people can get based on their history at a particular casino. I thought I'd share my history at the Gold Coast, since I have all the details. I've rounded the coin-in figures slightly, but they are reasonably accurate. 95% of my play is on the 9/6 JoB STP.

My first visit to the Gold Coast was made up of 5 consecutive visits from 2/28/2013-3/4/2013, while staying at the Rio. I played $10,000 coin-in over the 5 days. This play generated comp offers of 2 free nights, any day of the week, once every two months.

My next visit was a 2 night stay on the comp offer, 9/6/2013-9/8/2013. I played on the departure day a mere 250 or so points, so in total, I played $18,000 coin in over the 3 days. I did hit a royal flush on the 3rd day, so I sort of did a hit and run. On checkout, I was able to get $15 comped off my meals charged to the room. Running average coin-in per day over 8 days of play: $3500. I continued receive the same offer for 2 free nights.

Third trip was another 2 night comp, 1/31/2014-2/3/2014. I did not play on checkout day, and played $25,000 coin-in on the 2 days of play. Before checking out, I spoke to a host, who added himself to my account as my host, and comped off the entire $60 charged to my room. He was going to do $50, but saw the entire bill was $60, and did the whole thing. Running average coin-in per day over 10 days of play: $5300. The same 2 free night offers, but my host told me he could comp me 4-5 nights no problem.

Fourth trip was another 2 night comp, this time booked through my host, 5/4/2014-5/6/2014. I did not play on checkout day, and in the 2 days of play totaled $41,500 coin-in. Partway through my 2nd day, I spoke with my host, and he comped off the entire $65 in room charges. I had gotten 7x points on the previous days $24,000 coin in, so I didn't bother charging my next meal to the room, and paid with points. Running average coin-in over 12 days of play: $7875. Most recent 4 days of play averaged $16,625.

It's too early to know what sort of marketing offers I'll be getting after the last trip. Next trip I plan to charge all meals to the room. For the next trip, my uncle and I have a 2 Bedroom Suite comped through our host. My uncle is a Sapphire player. On his first and only visit to the Gold Coast, he played about $13,000 over 2 days. Between the 2 of us, we were able to get the suite instead of 2 separate rooms.

I'm not sure what other info I could provide, but if there's anything I can add, feel free to ask.

I can also add my actual win/loss info. Like the coin-in info, these are the numbers for just my gambling at the Gold Coast and exclude my play at other properties. Luckily, my results elsewhere were much better! Also rounded, but pretty close.

    Trip 1 -$400 no royals
    Trip 2 +700 two royals
    Trip 3 -$150 no royals
    Trip 4 -$150 one royal

So are you playing 5-line of 9/6 JOB for quarters? Averaging $16k coin in per day.

Do you think you should be getting more than just a free room and minimal charges picked up?

I bounce around between 3-5 play. Considering I'm playing a 99.82% game, with at least .2% back in points, I'm thrilled to be getting anything. It's effectively a +EV game. I do think I will be able to get all of my meals comped without a problem next trip.

Thank you for the report. Am always interested in the amount of coin-in or card score required for comps at the various Boyd casinos. We only have been playing at the downtown Boyd casinos and at the Orleans.

Since you mentioned towards the end of your report on getting 7X points, I was not too clear then of the points you were looking at. Is the daily coin-in score you are referring to, the Slot Points or the Card Score?

Slot points only. The $24000 coin in earned 24,000 tier points, and 168,000 slot points.

    Scot,

Do you feel you are getting good value out of STP? I know JOB is 99.54% and the extra dollar for STP gets you to 99.82%, but do you find yourself making any big hands with a decent multiplier?

Yes. I find STP to be much more interesting. It spices the game up enough to keep me entertained. It's always fun to get a 10X multiplier and a dealt straight to earn 1000 credits. A simple hand with a big payout. It definitely increases the swings, but it's amazing how quickly you can make $200-$300 even on 3 play.

This last trip, I was dealt 4 to a royal with a 3x multiplier on 5 play. I didn't connect, but it sure was exciting!

Also, it's an additional 1 credit per hand for the multiplier. So 3 handed, it's only an extra 75 cents.

Scot, thanks for the reply. That should generate some good offers. At down town Boyd, that would be at least 4 nights w/meals. The meals are actually in the form of a coupon book. At MSS & Fremont, there would be a possibility of a Silver or Gold Card for meals.

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are the Tier levels. You start at ruby. When you earn 25,000 points, you go to Sapphire. The biggest benefit of Sapphire is that you get 2x slot points (not tier points). So instead of earning $1 for every $1000 played, you earn $2. At 250,000 you become Emerald. At Emerald you get 3x slot points. I am Sapphire (currently a card score of around 133,000). I don't think I'll make it to Emerald this year.

Tier points expire for out-of-towners on a rolling 12 month basis, so to get to Emerald, you need 250,000 tier points earned in a 12 month span.

You said you've heard of Silver and Black. You probably mean Silver and Gold. At Boyd Downtown properties, and Sam's Town, one of the Comps you can get is a silver or gold card. The gold card will get you unlimited food and drink at nearly any casino restaurant or bar, comped up front. The silver card is similar, but usually doesn't include the nicer restaurants. I'm sure there's more details on this others can add, but that's my understanding.

    Thanks for the info.

What's the conversation from coin in to points? Just wondering how much coin in you need for the 25,000 points needed for Sapphire.

    Good info Scot!
I love that STP at GoldCoast...but it just doesn't offer any "pizzazz" like Downtown or Sams Town...
    I think it's probably 3rd for Las Vegas Boyd Comp-Friendly (1st ST, 2nd Downtown, 3rd GC)
But I LOVE the Cortez Room!
If only GC would send out a 3 night mailer (rather than having to go through a host) then I'd be all over it!

Quarter VP play right? What have you felt like has been a good daily bankroll to get the coin-in that you've been able to hit?

Yes, quarters. I usually plan on a $600-$800 daily bankroll when playing STP. I start with 3-play. If I get up a decent amount, I throw in some 5-play. If I'm down a lot, I might switch to 2-play, or even single play if I'm nearing my daily limit.

I intentionally only book 2 nights at the Gold Coast on my trips. I'm not willing to risk $800 a day for 5 days, but I do enjoy hammering the STP for a couple of days, and single line at the Boar's Head for a few more days.
