    Hello all...

I am sure this has been asked but haven't figured out the best way to search for it on these forums.

My wife and I are going to Vegas the last week of this month for 5 nights. We will be staying at the MGM Grand the middle three nights thanks to MyVegas. I rather have selected different nights...but these were the only nights available without killing by reward points.

That leaves the first and last nights. My wife and I each received a mailer from the Downtown Grand for two nights comped free this month. I had planned on using that for the first and last night there...but was told that they must be consecutive nights. Soooooo...we will use my comped nights for the first two nights and my wife's comped nights for the last two nights.

Confused yet??? Two of those nights will overlap with the MGM stay. I was considering cancelling both comped stays completely as this is getting too confusing and I didn't want to travel back and forth (will have a rental car) between the hotels each day.

My questions are...if you are leaving the hotel a day early...how does one check out without being there? Can this be done?

My wife said that we should leave the "do not disturb" sign up on the door so that they don't know that we are not using the room on each day we are not there...make sense?

I know I have read many times on this forum that many have done this. After traveling to Vegas many times...this is a first for me. Any tips you can give me will be very appreciated.

Not a problem, people do this every day. When you are ready to leave the Downtown room, leave. Leave the keys in the room and walk away. Whatever charges you have (resort fee, food/beverage charged to the room) will be posted to your credit card on file, and that's the end of it.

    Have fun!

wife is correct...(Isn't she alwys tho? Mine sure is:rolleyes2:) I've done this a few times. I'd go back to check out on the last morning tho. With a rental car it isn't too bad.
This wouldn't work when staying at a sister property BUT you aren't, so you'll be fine.

I just did the two free nights at DTG to collect my free play. We didn't stay there, just messed up the room a little on the first day and never went back.

They put a $50 per night hold on my CC, but that disappeared by the time we got home. I never check out of hotels, I just leave.

I wouldn't leave the DND sign on the door. On day 3 when housekeeping comes in, do you think they are going to call down and say nobody stayed here last night, so I have one less room to clean.

I've checked in to a room on the day I was leaving once for a three day comp because I wanted the $500 in FP. Checked into the room, picked up my FP, played it through on the machines, got on a plane and flew home. Didn't even open the door to the room. They'll automatically check you out and bill any charges to your CC.

Keep both rooms so you have that escape route to get away from 'The Boss'.

Just did this last week. However, I did go back to check out of the 2nd hotel and I am glad I did because when I was checking out at the desk, it appeared that they were charging me for the room when it was supposed to be a comp stay. Clerk had to do a fix to make sure I was not charged.

I wouldn't check out early though.. keep the room and check out when you're supposed to check out. They do expect you to play, it does say in fine print that if you are comped they expect your historic level of play... also they probably won't comp you anymore

I did it once at the Venetian, couldn't stay my 3rd night, but we had a late flight so we checked out around 6pm, the lady said that was fine, but she said if you leave like a whole day early they would charge you. (she told me this, before i told her I was leaving at 6)

    4 hotels, 1 trip

Last February there was 9 of us going, and I had 4 different room reservations in my name. Checked in at the Mirage for 4 nights then drove down to Circus Circus and checked in for 2 nights. 2 nights later I still had my Mirage rooms for 2 more, drove down to the Cosmopolitan for 2 nights and then drove to the Downtown Grand to check in for 2 nights.
I checked in at each place but I told them that my friend was giving the credit card for for any charges and the resort fees. I did not do the check outs. Worked great.

We've done it before. Comped 4 nights at Caesars and had a Mirage comp for 3 days plus 200 free play. Checked into Ceasars, walked to Mirage, checked in to redeem our free play and moved on. We did go up to our teeny tiny art deco room and I took the shampoo and conditioner bottles and left. Never checked out or anytbing at Mirage, really, we forgot we'd ever checked in there at all.

You'd think with as much as this goes on the hotels would get smart and make the offers $$$ in FP and 2 nights "or" just the $$$ in FP...you're choice. After all the goal is to get you in the casino. That way they don't have rooms tied up that they could be renting. Unless they have like an avg 20% room vacancy rate anyway?

We've done it before but I found it to be a PIA....going back and forth just for a few hundred in FP. But then we pretty much hang out at the resort we're staying at.
