We are headed to Vegas for a short week's vacation in June. Staying 5 nights at Rio. I have never stayed there before, but would like a pool/strip view. I know one of the wings in the Ipanema tower directly face both the pool and strip. Does anyone know room numbers in that specific wing so I can request a "high floor" room with a range of numbers? I'm thinking 17-20th floors? Also, is that the better of the 2 towers? I have heard the Masquerade tower suffers from the VooDoo lounge noise. Not sure, that's why I ask the pros here at VMB:nworthy:

I stayed at Rio last May, and loved it.
I asked for a Pool/Strip view and got it. Room 835 in the Ipinema Tower. I wanted something around the 10th floor and the 8th floor was fine.

I spent most of my time at Ipinema casino when not on the Strip. The Ipinema is close to the Buffet as well as the Rio shuttle and Starbucks.
All the rooms are big and have free Fridges.
Also, just across from the Shuttle is the Gold Coast and Palms, well within walking distance.

If you have a car perhaps the Masquarade Tower is better, but even if you have a car, the Ipinema Tower, IMO, is much more desirable and the parking garage is still close by.

Perhaps a higher floor will be better for you, but the wing that i was at was fantastic.

Here is a pic of the view of the Strip as well as the pool:

Was at the Rio last week in room 1137. It was a perfect view of the pool and the strip including the High Roller. You could even be on a lower floor if you wanted a closer look a the pool action.

As an aside, the Rio continues to decline and it is very obvious they are not putting much $$$ in maintenance or renovation. I will say that my room was nice and clean and the AC actually worked.

I'll write up a few notes in the trip section.

Have fun and make sure you check out the Gold Coast (right across the street) for better VP odds and a nice selection of places to eat.

waverunner and azbob, thanks for the replies (and the pics, wave). Seems you both had rooms right next to each other, albeit on different floors.. It helps some to know room numbers..if all else fails I will ride the elevator up and look at room signs..

We will be going to Gold Coast for good VP as well as much cheaper buffets and meals in general. We are members of the B Connected program so will be putting points on our cards there..

No problem man. I just realized i had my countdown timer set for Sunday but it's actually this Friday.
Also, in the Rio thread from March 2014, i posted a pic of the pool view from my room but for some reason it won't post.

I will be at Bally's tomorrow, but during the weekend/week i will also be hitting Rio and Gold Coast (for buffet) using the Rio shuttle. I use the B card for the discount at the buffet.

I was hoping to see the Rio Zip Line (it's been under construction since forever), and supposedly the grand opening was supposedly in March 2014, but i don't think it's ready yet.

I will take pics when i go to Rio (probably Saturday), of the soon to be determined opening of the "Zip Line".

Stayed at RIO about 5 times now. They've recently renovated some rooms in the Masquarade tower, and call them Samba Rooms. My friend had one last summer. Pretty nice! My room was also in the Masquarade tower that trip, and it was perfectly fine. I should be looking at a "Samba Suite" in 10 days as that's what is reserved. With a strip / pool view too. My wife loves the pool area. I usually rent a car but shuttles are OK.
Buffet is VERY good for lunch or Supper. No breakfast buffet as there is Hash House a GoGo on site now. There's a second Seafood buffet that is good but a bit pricey.

Just got back from 5 nights at the Rio. You definitely want the IP tower. The Masquerade rooms are not as nice and there's that weird window into the bathroom (bizarre). Samba rooms are nice but if you are high enough up you'll get noise from the Voodoo Lounge (which may or may not bother you).

When we arrive Sunday morning about 9 the only rooms they had were in the Masquerade so we took it rather than wait a few hours to see what would open up. Yuck. Tried to switch later that night but nothing else available. Tried again the next morning and were switched to a corner room in the IP.
