I'll be heading to Vegas soon for a bachelor party, so I've been checking out the Wizard of Vegas' blackjack survey for some decent games that my friends and I can play. I'll be stopping at the El Cortez to play some single deck, but some of my friends are going to be wanting to play at some of the fancier main strip casinos. I noticed that on the blackjack survey the Bellagio and the MGM Grand have a $15 minimum game with pretty good rules - 3:2 blackjack, 6 decks, S17, DAS, surrender, and RSA. That would be perfect.

The last time I was in Vegas I looked around for these rules at MGM, but couldn't find it, but I wasn't looking very hard either (I was with my fiance at the time). Can anyone tell me if these games are always $15 min, or do they bump them up on nights and weekends? Also does anyone know how many tables they have with these rules, and are they usually full?

    Hi.

My experience with the low limits on good games is that you can get them early morning and some afternoon's, but when it gets late and/or busy, forget it, as it will go up to $50 and $100. MGM is better than CET these days, but my knowledge is a year old, other people may know more recent info than me and I will be interested for my trip next year.

Yeah, I figured they might have it at $15 to start with, then bump it up later in the day. Do they still grandfather you in if you were there playing at the original minimum?

For S17 games at both MGM Grand & Bellagio, the minimum is usually $25 in the morning, and it rises throughout the day.

They will always have plenty of H17 tables for $15 or lower.

I have played at both MGM & Bellagio's S17 tables when they had the limits down to $10! But this is incredibly rare, and you should not expect to find a $10 S17 table.

And yes they will grandfather you in.

Oh that's too bad. I wonder why they have it at a $15 minimum in the blackjack survey. Maybe it just hasn't been updated recently.

If you read the notes at the bottom (Wizard of Odds I assume are you talking about) it says the min and max has not been updated since 2006

This is correct. And if it helps, when I stayed at MGM last month, the $25 games quickly escalated to $50 (usually before noon)

on a side note if it doesnt have to be mgm or mlife i suggest the 25$ 6 deck at ballys best rules on the strip allways 25$ in the new hl room .if that works for you.

otherwise you will have to just see when they lower or up the mlife limits depending how crowed they are.

Actually the only thing I could find that you might be referring to is - "Any casinos with blank fields for the minimum and maximum bet likely have not been updated since 2006, so please take them with a grain of salt."

Either way it sounds like the reality of it is that I won't be able to find these rules for less than $25 min. That's too bad. I'll still try it out, but that might be a little too rich for a couple of my friend's tastes. We'll just have to get our lower limit action downtown.

Thank you for the help everyone!

Just FYI, having stayed and played multiple times at Bellagio and MGM, you're going to see Bellagio go to $25 tables faster than MGM basically any day of the week. I watched them keep 6-8 $25 and $50 tables open and empty instead of trying to lower the limit on 1 or 2 of them to bring in some players. I asked the pit boss, and he just said "that's the way we have to do it" as if he was powerless to change it. I know better than that, but whatever they need to tell themselves -- and you.

They'll probably still have $15 CSM tables but those are crap.

I read somewhere (I think it was Vegas Chatter) that the new Cromwell has an 3:2 S17 game at $10 minimum. I haven't seen it myself, but might be worth it to check.

Is the Cromwell open already? I didn't think it opened until May 21st.

Awesome. I'll have to check it out to see if that $10 S17 game is there.

I think this is going to end up as a simple decision -

    1. Play a S17 game at $25
    2. Play a H17 game at $15
    3. Do not play BJ

We'll probably just go with option 4 - Play blackjack downtown.

Heh, El Cortez was the plan. I'll probably end up playing some $25 min on the strip for a while though.

You can find H17 with DAS at plenty of places DT other than the El Cortez
