I'd like to switch to low to no carb cocktail mixes like soda water. Sour mix gives me heartburn now and I can't handle too much sugar anymore. I'm not a beer drinker. White wine gives me a headache and red wine gives me heartburn.

Any ideas on some easy, non fancy, 2 and 3 ingredient cocktails? What goes good with soda water and lemon or lime?

A good dark rum. Go with lime.

A citrus flavored vodka with soda and lemons/limes is light, refreshing and relatively not bad for you.

Gin. Very refreshing - great spring or summer drink.

For a summer drink I like vodka and diet 7-up with a splash of pineapple juice.

My husband loves a Manhattan, and I don't love it, but I can drink bourbon and rye in a couple of cocktails - I really like a Ward 8 as a cooler, made in a Tom Collins glass with seltzer - very refreshing (it's good without it as well) There is some juice in it but not much. http://www.esquire.com/drinks/ward-eight-drink-recipe

(I don't drink much liquor and I don't like vodka or gin so my cocktail recommendations will be biased against the "clear" liquors.)

A little boring, but how about Rum and Coke Zero? Use Appleton Rum from Jamaica, mon. Or Mt. Gay from Barbados.

My go to is Malibu coconut rum and Diet Coke.

At 42 proof it has the added advantage of being able to drink them all day long without getting out of control. (Yes, I realize for some that is a major disadvantage :poke:)

Vodka, Water, and Mio (water flavour of your choice) Refreshing and low cal and you can use soda water or regular water and tastes good.

My standard drink in Vegas is "Captain and Diet". But I'm looking for a new drink to. I was hoping for something with soda or tonic. Unfortunately, I hate both of them. :wink2:

Some delicious sounding drinks here. But, I'm sorry, I should have specified. The bars in Vegas usually only have diet coke/pepsi. I need something I can easily order from the CW or at a bar.

    Lola,
Do some tastings! If you don't have the liquors at home, get some minis - get all the regulars you would expect to find in the standard casino bar - vodka, gin, rum etc. Get seltzer, tonic, diet coke/pepsi (if you do drink that). Get lemon & lime. You can reasonably expect things like bitters, grenadine as well, though I'm not sure if you would want those or not.

Start mixing drinks! Try things neat, on the rocks, with a splash of soda, with 8oz of soda as a cooler, with citrus, etc.

Don't make any plans for that day:wink2:

Oh I've got quite a bar over here. I'll be doing some tastings for sure. But, I know I can get some good ideas in here too.

Maybe not exactly what you asked, but here are some ideas w/ no cal or low-cal mixers:
    1. Makers/bulleit/etc. on the rocks or with a splash of water
    2. Scotch & soda
    3. Black russian
    4. Gin or vodka martini
    5. Bloody mary
    6. Irish coffee
    7. Ice pick (vodka + iced tea)
    8. Flavored vodka (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, whatever) + soda + lemon or lime
    9. Gin fizz
    10. Dark rum + soda + lime
    11. Shots shots shots shots shots shots (everybody!)
    12. Tequila + soda + lime (or orange)
    13. Liqueur (Kahlua, Amaretto, etc) on the rocks
