Been to Vegas quite some time and stayed at various properties. Thinking of a 4-5 night trip in September, and cannot decide on which hotel to choose. Price for 4 nights are between 250-400 at these properties after member discounts or promotions.

    The ones I've been to:

    - Hooters
    - TI
    - Excalibur
    - Rio
    - Harrah's
    - Caesars
    - Mirage
    - Aria

    The ones I'm considering:

    - Planet Hollywood
    - Caesars
    - Aria
    - MGM Grand
    - Mirage

    Runner-ups:

    - Venetian/Palazzo
    - Bally's / Harrah's / Flamingo
    - Vdara

    My criteria:

    - Travelling solo, so no need for upscale but I like some decent/clean environment. Also, do not appreciate old, dirty, dingy hotels/rooms - shortly, don't like the loser vibe
    - Don't want to spend a fortune, but also want to have a nice experience
    - Like gambling, but do casino hop a lot, so the casino at the home base is not a major criteria
    - Location is key, as close to Bellagio as possible, but I do like to walk on the strip
    - I like hanging out at the pools
    - Long walks to get to my room usually tire me

I would check the rates on Flamingo Go that week. It might be on the low end of room quaility, but the Go should get you satisfied. It will probably fit your budget, it is a VERY short walk to Bellagio, and unless your looking for a dayclub for being by the pool Flamingo has the best on the strip...

Of your list I would choose Aria or Mirage and ask for a room near the elevator.
Maybe you would consider a couple of nights DT and in that case choose the Golden Nugget.

Based on your criteria, I concur this is your best location. The Go room without view (the Go Room with a strip view will fit your budget max of $400) will be nice enough for you. The casino does not have a loser vibe, and as solo, you have the Carnival Court and Linq options nearby.

I was going to suggest Pho, but everyone here bashes their pool (is it the pool vibe, or something else about it?).

The pool is just very small. There's a 20 - something 'day party' side, and a regular pool side. Neither are terrible atmospheres, but they are just really, really small.

To the OP, I'd suggest MGM.

I've stayed at most of the options that you are considering at based on your criteria I would ALSO suggest a Flamingo GO room!!!

That was going to be my choice too, but the pool in his criteria made me choose Flamingo.

PHo is near Bellagio + Cosmo + City Center. Perfect center strip location.

What does that run for 4 nights?

It's also the back door to Bellagio, so that works out great for him. Any cheap(er) food eats in the Aria location?

Depends.. Aria's rates really go up and down.

Cheapest food option might be Jean Philippe's Patisserie and the Cafe. However, Monte Carlo isn't too far away and they're somewhat connected. At Monte Carlo, you have the food court.

Of your preferred list I've stayed at Caesars and PH, and I of the two I would opt for Caesars as long as its not Roman tower.

Slightly nicer and bigger rooms (I stayed in Forum Tower and liked it), and a far better pool to hang out at than PH. Also right next to Bellagio.

Of your other options, Aria may be your style but may be the most expensive, and MGM may be a bit too much family vibe at the pool from what I've heard. I'd imagine Mirage would fit the bill from what I've heard.

Vdara is awesome and you can find very competitive prices. It's close to The B, which is something you're looking for.

All great suggestions, thanks. I never thought Flamingo was a top choice for many. I will seriously look into that and will definitely research the pool.

First week of september, the rates seem to be pretty low, especially on non-weekend days. So, Aria/Caesar's run around 100/night, the rest alternating between 60-90/night. MGM Grand even has a mini suite option for 75/night. Of course prices are based on my players cards but I'm a low roller.

I try to see different places each time, so MGM Grand/Pho/Flamingo are kind of my shortlist for now. But again, haven't stayed at Venetian at all, and I believe they let you waive the resort fee? Then, they will probably be at a similar total cost with Aria/Caesars?

Vdara seems very nice but it needs some getting used to not having a casino downstairs. Though, after 8 visits, that idea doesnt sound very bad :)

CP would be great but Augustus Tower would be the one you want. Don't know if that one fits the budget. Don't know much about the Aria pools but considering your desire to be near Bellagio it would be even better.

I'm going to suggest PH, but the above posts are right, the pool is a little on the small side. But the location is great, the casino is great, and the attached miracle mile mall has a lot of my favourite food options.

Flamingo is an absolute dump (I have stayed there 3 times).

Based on your criteria, I would choose Mirage in a heart beat.

I would go Flamingo as well for the reasons stated. I've stayed at Aria, and although I loved it, I wouldn't recommend it for you based on the fact you said you weren't fond of long walks back to your room (from the Strip -- short walk from the casino). For me, it was cumbersome to get back and forth from the Strip, so it's not as easy to casino hop. The rooms were great, though, and the pool area was OK. If I remember correctly, there are three pools. We asked for the one with no children. The pool area was nice. Have a great trip!

All Hell, just get er done, and stay at the Bellagio! :evillaugh

Realistically, you have a ton of great responses. We would love to know what you have decided upon. And better yet, post again after your trip!

PS.... Avoid the Flamingo, lower level, Strip View rooms, in the South Tower. Just a thought, without sounding too negative. :rolleyes2:
