We've been to Vegas on July 4th 4 times in the last 12 or so years and they never had fireworks anywhere on the strip. It was always an odd site because 10's of thousands of people were standing up and down the strip looking around each time expecting fireworks, only to be confused and disappointed. People would stand out there for hours waiting.

Also, I know my new handle shows I haven't been a member here long, but I've been reading and sometimes participating on Vegas message boards since the old Vegas.com days-around 1999 or so. This 4th of July fireworks question comes up every year and every year it's mentioned that they do have them. Then afterwords it invariably gets posted that nothing went down. So unless you see something directly reported from the source of an event or in the LVJ, go at your own risk.

Now we haven't been on the 4th the last 3 years, I think, so maybe paperposter is right on and something has changed.

They do for sure have a great fireworks show on New Year's Eve, though.

As far as the heat goes, I don't think it's hot, but then again I come from a slightly warmer climate. If you're not used to it, you'll be miserable, even at night, standing outside (in a crowd of thousands of potentially bewildered people).

I've read a few trip reports from last Independence Day and many were disappointed in the fireworks shows. Its not NYE, but there are some, just nothing spectacular from what I've read.

I have gone to Vegas for the last several Fourth of July holidays and there ARE fireworks visible all over the valley at night. I had a Strip view at Aria last year and you could see them everywhere you looked. Later that night I took a drive to the M via I-15 and you could see fireworks going off everywhere too.

It is not as big of a fireworks holiday in Vegas as New Year's Eve, and most of the main casinos on the Strip do not have any fireworks visible from the Strip. Caesars does have fireworks though.

Resorts like Red Rock have always had great fireworks displays.

Here is an article with some of the events that take are taking place this coming July 4th:

If you have access to a car, there is an all day annual celebration in Boulder City called Damboree and there is a nice fireworks display at 9pm:
