Mlife comps at Beau Rivage?

Let me preface this by saying that I called their reservation line, and while the woman I spoke with was friendly, she wasn't the least bit helpful. Having never visited their casino, I have zero offers, which I understand. The problem I have is that, despite being gold, they didn't even offer me any sort of tier discount or anything, simply stating that they could book me now and review my play when I got there. When I asked what sort of blackjack play they expect to be able to comp a room -- even pointing out, for example, that a Las Vegas casino could tell me that they need $100/hand for 4 hours of blackjack to get a free night -- she said they "don't have anything like that" and that I would have to "speak to a casino host once I got there." Not exactly doing their best to win over a new customer...eh. I told her that was a little too vague for me to make a reservation.

So, I ask you, dear VMBers, should I try to find a casino host to speak with before I book? Is this woman just clueless, or is this standard for non-Vegas properties? I'm not someone big enough to call a host and make demands -- just a green chip player who averages $25-50/hand at blackjack. Usually I end up rated around 40-45/hand, if that helps.

Anyone who has experience with the Beau, let me know anything and everything that might be helpful. You can PM me if you have a connection there that you don't feel comfortable publicizing.

I know this is the comps section, but I wasn't sure where else to ask, so if you want to tell me how their gaming is there, I would be curious about BJ rules/table minimums, craps minimums, VP pay tables, and if they have free bet BJ or BJ switch. I can't determine this stuff from their website.

Last august I was passing through Biloxi on a long road trip and figured i would stop in to get the free monthly buffet that was noted on the mlife site for Gold. I didn't plan on playing as I needed to get back on the road. The cashier didn't know what I was talking about and said she could call mlife desk and see but she was the only cashier open and the line was about 50 deep behind me. I just paid so I could eat and get out of there and back on the road. So make sure you confirm any of that sort of stuff with mlife desk first.

 

The woman I spoke with made the whole place sound kind of shady and unorganized. I am sure they aren't shady, but it definitely sounded unorganized. There's no way I am showing up without any idea what sort of play could get me comps there. They need to train their phone people a little better, I would say...

 

Having played there a good bit in the past I would say I'm pretty sure that 50/hand will get you a room. I would call back and ask to speak with a host. It seems you got the worst CSR in the whole building.

 

Thanks, Granum. I guess that's what I will have to do. I suspect this CSR was fairly new, because I think she said my name at the end of her first 15 sentences -- no exaggeration. Then she had to put me on an extended hold to "look into" what their offers for me would be, only to come back and tell me that since I had not played there, I didn't have any offers. I had already told her "I understand that I don't have any offers since I haven't played there, but I wanted to see what you guys might offer based on my account and my play in Vegas."
I think she might be better off working a government job where thinking is generally not required

Before I cold-call the casino, if anyone has a host contact at the Beau, I would greatly appreciate it

 

$50/hand would get a room there? The rack rate on MLIFE.com is usually pretty high. I know it's probably the nicest property in Biloxi/Gulfport but geez they charge a pretty penny.

 

It is truly amazing how little some casino employees know about their own business. Call again and ask for the host on duty. If they won't connect you, hang up and try again until they do. If you have ANY mlife play history they will do something for you.

 

I have called the BR many times and the agents are very nice and are very knowledgeable. I think that they are just able to make reservations off of existing offers. Now that said she probably should have suggested you talk to a host concerning play requirements for a room, but I am not surprised she did not know what was required.

I am mlife gold and since I go to Gold Strike in Tunica I now get room/flight offers from BR. I play craps at $125 to 150 avg/bet. They have comped all my food charges so far but they do take reward credits first.

 

I can't speak about what they can do for someone with no history at the Beau Rivage but I think you will have a pretty good chance of everything being taken care of once you get there. (if you have tht $40 avg bet for 4 hours a day) I don't give them a lot of play (.50 VP and Caribbean Stud Poker at $15/30 per hand) but get decent offers. (3 free nights Sun-Thurs.,call for weekend rate) and $60 free play per month. It is a nice property and has a good number of rooms to fill (over 1K) each night so they want to get bodies in there. One caveat: we are just getting into the summer beach/pool season and that always jumps up the number of people who want to come to the Gulf Coast.

 

You do realize that $15/ante Caribbean Stud effectively equals $50+/hand BJ if the Beau is comping fairly, right?

 

Thanks, Rebel. Would you say early fall is a better time to visit? I would like to get there when it isn't just overrun with tourists, but the weather is still nice

 

Most schools in the South start their year in mid-August so anytime after Labor Day should give you pleasant (and still pretty hot) weather without being covered up by crowds of tourists. We actually stay warm enough to enjoy the pool or beach well into October. The nights might be a little cool but the days will be hot. Most casino offers start getting a little better about that same time.

 

The Diceman knows of what he speaks. The Beau is my "local" even though I live in Florida and having any status based on your play should get you comped nights during the week.
Check you MLife account on line and you may find offers there. I get them from Vegas and Tunica but most of my play this past year was in Biloxi.
