Just wondering if any recent visitors have seen any sort of progress on the new Asian casino on the site of the old Frontier?

I read last month they are still dealing with the gambling license. Once that is settled construction will begin. They said that should happen by the fall.

IIRC, it's on the old Stardust and Westward Ho site. It's going to be called "Resorts World".

The Frontier site was planned for a place called "Las Vegas Plaza" not to be confused with "The Plaza" downtown. The LVP is stalled or canceled last I checked.

Thanks. I wasn't really sure. I knew it was one or the other.

No problem. As far as the opening date for Resorts World, check out Vegas Chatter. They had an article on it a few months back that provided the estimated opening date. I don't remember exactly but it was at least 2-3 years out.

Can't come soon enough. That end of the strip has needed help for several decades.

It will take at least until 2015 for Genting to gain a Nevada gaming regulation approval before they will break down.

    I can't wait for groundbreaking.

The opening of Wynncore was suppose to accelerate the rebirth of the north end. And then the economy went in the toilet in 2008. Now with SLS opening hopefully there can be a reboot. I just hope the Riv survives in it's current form, Vegas needs a few old classics and there aren't very many of them anymore.

Yep, Riviera would be a hopping old school joint if some new neighbors opened up. I hope they stick to their guns and double down on the classic Vegas theme should the opportunity arise to renovate once that area revitalizes.

Riviera is truly the last of its kind on the strip.

Just got back and we stayed at Wynn with a strip view, there is absolutely nothing going on at that site. The skeleton that is there is beginning to rust and depending on when they get going, they may have to take it back down to the ground and start over.
