I remain a BIG fan of Hugo's in The Four Queens... very "old school" Vegas atmosphere and GREAT food. Also like Chart House @ Golden Nugget as well. Am hearing REALLY good things about Andiamo Steakhouse at The D too, but haven't had the pleasure yet of dining there.

I have eaten at Andiamos twice.

IMHO, this would be an excellent restaurant to bring a date or spouse. The atmosphere is quiet. Food is excellent. Service is attentive & pleasant . Plan to pay $50/person without drinks.

    Reservations would be preferable.

As I always do, I recommend Redwood inside Cal, or Second St inside Fremont. Both have an old Vegas feel to them. Food is reasonably priced and very good.

Granted being comped at both places might taint my opinion. YMMV.

Ate at Andiamo's twice last summer, and it was an excellent experience I will definitely repeat again this summer.

Great menu, superb food, and the staff add all the little touches that make the meal memorable.

Would say it's now my favourite restaurant downtown, and would definitely be my recommendation if you're dining with your GF.

Hugo's is also very good, and has a great old school feel to it.

I haven't eaten there yet, but Lotus of Siam always gets good reviews and is sort of downtown.

Will post a report when I go there in August.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but eating at American Coney Island will spark its own atmosphere between the two of you as soon as 30 minutes later. :evillaugh

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I actually really like the hot dogs here, but definitely not a place I would take someone for a "nice" dinner. It's perfect for a post-drunk meal though.

Other folks have already mentioned great places - listen to them.

As a local I recommend the Redwood hands down. For the price
and atmosphere its great. Ask for Hilario he is the best waiter I have ever had
    at any restaurant.

the view down Fremont is now blocked by the slotzilla landing area. its terrible.

The food may be good but the view isn't what you go for anymore.

    I like the redwood.

I ate at Andiamo's a few weeks ago. It was excellent in every respect, food, service, atmosphere.

I ate at Oscar's a few months ago. It was good but given the choice between Oscar's and Andiamo's I would easily choose Andiamo's.

We had another great meal at the Redwood tonight. We go once a month.
The service and food were top notch. It really is an underated restaurant.
The price is right on point.
