Cheap Eats at Hash House a Go-Go

I've been to Ellis Island and many other eateries in LV, but the one that stands out as the best value is Hash House a-go-go. The portions are literally monster-sized, so unless you are a ferocious eater, plan to share a meal or plan to take leftovers to your room. The one I went to is hidden in the lower level of the Quad. I too LOVE HHAGG... I think the food's great and as you point out there's certainly plenty of it. The various locations are discussed on here from time to time, however, our positive opinion of the small chain isn't shared by all.

 

The one at the Quad is on the second floor in the back of the casino.I wouldn't go so far to say it was cheap eats, but maybe if you pay the sharing fee and split an order of something it might be. The food is good, but it's more of a novelty type thing for me.

There will be a new one opening up in the Rio sometime this year too.

 

I thought the food at HHAGG was good but I wouldn't characterize it as cheap. A good bang for the buck maybe but it's not for the budget sensitive, especially since leftovers aren't practical when no fridge or microwave and because they slap a plate sharing fee on you.

 

It opened a few weeks ago.
They are only open for brunch 6am - 3pm. No dinner.

 

The portions at HHAGG are monstrous but I definitely wouldn't call them cheap. IMHO they should have "mini" portions that are cheaper, no sense I eat there since I don't eat as much as before and will be wasting a good portion of the meal. I would eat a "mini" portion though.

 

Cheap only if sharing and using the BOGO certificate for joining their email club. But, we have enjoyed both breakfast & dinner there and go once each trip. Nice to use our comps too.

 

Does anyone know what the sharing fee is?
And is there anyway around it?

Are you charged the sharing fee even if you split two or more items... Like if my bf got a hash dish and I got a waffle... And just swapped plates to share?

 

Love the black skillet chicken and also the crab cakes here.

Everyone is right about the portions, perfect size to base a nights drinking and foolery around.

The slant glasses you get cocktails are fun too

I've avoided the place mainly due to the fact that they serve far more than I could ever eat! Their place in Reno actually had a sign like "We also serve traditional American breakfast with sensible portions."

 

I have not been in any of the other LV locations, but at the M location (which closed sometime last year), they had a special smaller sized portion menu at reduced prices. It might have even been labelled a senior menu, I can't recall for sure on that aspect.

 

I believe Harrahs Reno has a smaller-portion section of their breakfast menu. I've seen it before and thought "Um, I'm not here for sensible portions". I'll be at Harrahs Reno in two weeks... I'll let you know.

 

i have always wanted to try this place, but understood it to be off-strip and so never got there. I may check out the one at the quad for bfast one morning.

I know they are known for bfast. can anybody share their thoughts on lunch/dinner?

Looking forward to seeing how the quad has changed over the last year since I was there. I think it had just opened then and didn't seem to be fully done.

 

Hash House is one of my favorites. Make it a point to eat there every time I'm in town

 

Not to hijack the thread, but other than crab cakes and black skillet chicken, anybody have any favorites here -- especially off the breakfast/brunch menu? We're planning on going over and having that crazy looking BLT Bloody Mary and something else.

Chicken and waffles. Best I've ever had so far!

 

Last Friday I had their Jalapeno Hash w/Eggs at their Quad location. I love spicy food but this dish defeated me. I had to push the jalapenos to the side.

And, I would not say it was cheap. With coffee, I think the bill was $19.

Edit: Actually I think it is called Chorizo Hash.

Stuffed burgers is awesome and was the size of my head, Chicken and Waffles are good, There always seems to be a line however at the Quad location, so be prepared to wait a bit
