Help With Total Rewards

So I just signed up for total rewards players card and visa card. me and the wife go to vegas at least 5 times a year so really want to start taking advantage of some comps this year. appreciate any help not a High Roller just average player probably $700 a trip but just getting cheaper rates will do for me lol

 

Main thing I guess is take advantage of the $100 in RC's you get by charging $750 in 90 days.pretty easy to do with airfare..
I don't think the platinum helps on room rates,just your previous play,but early check-in and no resort fees help.

 

Does anyone know how long it takes for the platinum status to show up on your account? Also, I just booked hotel and flight earlier this week on the TR Visa and the points haven't shown up

 

Seems like when I signed up in January, the Platinum status took about a month. My points shown up about 3 weeks after I paid for my golf trip in Feb. Good luck & have a blast.

Just a few words on the TR visa card and being Platinum.

We took advantage of this TR option last year and became Platinum after being Gold for many years. IMO, being Platinum helps with every thing in CET world. You'll get the staus after the first $750 is processed through the card and after that your stays at any CET property will be much improved with things like short wait buffet lines, upgraded rooms, express check-in and even the option to wavie resort fee in LV.

I can't say for sure if you get preferred room rate just for being Platinum, I am sure that gaming and customer loyaty play a part in your overall comps, we seen to get decent rates in LV and almost always comped in AC. I guess a upgrade would in itself make the rate better. The rate thing is debatable, walking past a line of gold cards for first check-in or seating is real.

Once attaining Platuinum through the 10,000 point gift, we didn't want to go back to gold. We became better customers as to collect enough point to maintain that level, now on our second year as Platumin, their marketing plan worked on us. Learn their system for collecting points, some purchases can be up to 5x point value or more.

Under "Misc Vegas" thread of VMB, page #3, there is a recent discussion of the TR visa card, might want to read through those post if you haven't already.

Don't you get the status just for having the card?

The $750 simply gets you the RCs...not the Platinum level - right?

Yes, I going to have to say that your correct, that it Platinum upon receiving the card. You caused me to get the paperwork that came with the card and it qoutes " if your not at least Platinum Teir status, you will be automatically upgraded to Platinum status, or you will maintain your Platinum status for the next year"

So it does not say that you have to aquire the points first. But still it has the requirement of processing $250 for 5000 points, $750 for the next 5000 points (within 90 days of receiving the card) for a total "gift" of 10,000 points, which is the same number of points to attain Platinum. Guess I read something that wasn't there.

I don't know from experience if you can get the card and never use it and still be Platinum without aquiring the 10,000 points through gaming.

I ran the $750 through the card, (which is not hard to do on a Vegas vacation) got the points and when on from there.

Another benefit I see a lot of people getting. When your 1st year is up with the visa card, they renew your platinum status even if you don't get the needed points.

 

True. We made every effort to collect points during the first year without coming close to the 10,000 mark. Then to our pleasent suprise, we were renewed at Platinum for another year.

 

If you go to the casino before Platinum status is awarded after receiving your TR Visa, just go to the Total Rewards desk and they will immediately increase your tier level to Platinum so you can enjoy line jumps etc. right away. They did that for us and it was great.

 

So you guys are basically saying you get Platinum for two years if you get this card?

 

This is seeming to be the case, at least for me. I got the card last May or June, and assumed I'd be Platinum until the same time this year. I don't play enough to re-earn the Platinum status on my own. However, when I look at my TR account, it shows my status as "Platinum through March 31, 2015"

If this is in fact correct, it's awesome that I get to keep the Platinum status until next year. It's come in VERY handy on past trips.

 

My Visa TR just arrived, ill report back once i'm upgraded to platinum to see how long it takes.

Yeah it took about a month for my platinum status to show. And you get it just for getting the card. The $750 spending for 10,000 rewards points is separate.

Does anyone know how many rewards credits you need to collect to get room comps? Or does that only work with tier credits? And can you get tier credits through the visa card?

 

Pretty sure the room comps are based on gambling. I barely gamble at CET locations and receive 2 free weekday nights for the next 3 months. When I say "barely" gambled I'm talking maybe a loss of $400 at most over two trips (5day each). The room offers came immediately after my February trip.

 

Maaan what's the point of having the visa card then? I thought I read somewhere that it would eventually get me room comps. Baahh

 

The points you accumulate via the card are Rewards Credits, and they can be used to pay for meals, stuff in the gift shop etc, and you can also apply them against your room bill at the end of the stay. So while you may not get up front room comps via the card, you can get enough points to knock the cost of your room way down or even make it free, depending on how much you use the card.

Tier Credits are a totally different thing, they are based solely on play - using the card doesn't affect them - and they are what determines if you are gold, Platinum etc. So you'll get Platinum just for signing up for the card, and based on my experience it seems to last more than just 12 months, but after that time you can only re-attain Platinum through your play.

 

FWIW its definitely easier to earn room comps with TR than Mlife. TC's are best on average bet an hour, not necessarily "loss amount".
