My wife and I used myVegas comps to get two free nights at Aria last November. I had heard that Aria DID NOT charge the resort fee as stated in the terms and conditions, and was happy to see that they also did not charge us.

On the other hand, I've heard other MGM properties ARE tacking the fee onto the free rewards, but I can't remember who...

My wife and I are going back in June so before I pick a room I was trying to figure out which hotels will truly be fee, and which ones will charge me the $30 proctology fee. :evillaugh

    What are your experiences?

Stayed at Aria last week, and they tried to charge the resort fee, but since we are MLIFE Platinum they took it off.

I found the LVA list about resort fees in general, but is there a separate list about which ones charge resort fees on myVegas reward redemptions? If so, do you have a link?

I think you're going to find, as you might have expected, there are no hard rules here.

In March, I stayed at the MGM for four nights, 3 comped and one thru Myvegas. Because the MyVegas rooms at MGM are West Wing rooms, and my comped room was a Grand Tower room, when checking in, I asked the two reservations to be merged as one, so I didn't have to check out and check in, or worse yet, move.

The check in agent did as I asked, and removed the resort fee from the MyVegas reservation, but left it on the 3 nights comped reservation. He did, however, charge $20 for the upgrade of the MyVegas reservation. That action saved a few bucks over the resort fees for MGM.

    Good Luck figuring it out.

I've stayed at NYNY and Monte Carlo with MyVegas bonus nights and neither one charged me the resort fee.

I have yet to be charged resort fees at these locations.

    9/2013 Mirage, MGM Grand
    2/2014 Mirage, Monte Carlo

I also wasn't charged in May 2013 either, but that's before they changed the room rewards.

I was not charged the resort fee at Monte Carlo in November, but was charged at Aria in March. I would just "plan" on paying the resort fee and if you happen to get it waived it's a win!

We got dinged at Luxor for $22 I think it was. But I politely asked for, and received a nice upgrade so it was worth it. Plus you know I used the hell out of that "complimentary" treadmill, free incoming faxes and daily newspaper ;)

Aria in November did not charge us a resort fee for our 5 nights (three from my account, two from my dad, all linked together as one reservation).

I should note that when we WERE NOT charged at Aria I tried the $20 trick. I was unsuccessful in getting an upgrade to a Strip-view room, but perhaps the clerk took off the resort fee for me....might be worth it to always try the $20 trick as we may win in ways we don't initially realize...
