    Hi bigj2910,

I stayed at the Monte Carlo last Oct. on a solo trip and I really liked it.

What I liked about it was the cleanliness everywhere. And a nice fresh faint scent throughout the casino which I thought was really nice. Probably a vanilla scent, but not overwhelming at all.

The pool area was really nice. They have 3 pools and if you want to be shaded plenty of area for that, if you want full sun, plenty of area for that. and if you want both, not a problem at all. LOL Pool waitresses were always around and everyone friendly.

They have a lazy river as part of their pool complex and that as well was nice.

The hotel rooms were very nice. I stayed there on a Myvegas promotion, so my room was comped and I really was expecting just a basic room. To my surprise, it was well above basic. Lots of room to stretch out in, nice flat screen T.V., very, very comfy bed, and very comfortable pillows. Not a flat or hard pillow in the joint. Another option to brag about was the nice big bathroom. Lighted magnifying mirror, just in case you want to look at your face close up. LOL And I love this amenity. Okay, I'm a glutton for punishment. At least I could see to put my make up on, for once in my life.

I absolutely loved the food court. Lots of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and sometimes it was nice to grab something, take it up to my room, and watch some Wheel Of Fortune. Yes, I am the ONE person to actually still watch a Wheel of Fortune on T.V.when in Vegas. I know, I'm a margarita short of a party. LOL

Monte Carlo has nice restaurants. I did eat breakfast at their buffet, but I do have to say, I wasn't really impressed. However, it may have been my own fault, after all, eating crab legs and biscuits and gravy is not to be recommended by most. LOL They did have a lot of food choices and lots of fresh fruit, lox and bagels, cereals, muffins, etc.

The FREE tram goes from Monte Carlo to Aria and then to Bellagio. This is a very nice perk. And it is easy to get to. Saves a lot of walking and blisters.

If you are a slot player, I found the slot machines to be decent and not eat all of my money. And I am a cheap gambler, but still I was able to play for a few hours and not lose the farm. And if I lose 50.00 you may find me in the bathroom getting sick. LOL Not really, but I definitely never gamble over my bankroll which is usually 100-150.00 a day. And they do have lots of table games as well. Not sure about poker rooms.

The location of the Monte Carlo is a good one, in my opinion. What really helped me out, was it is a very short walk to the ABC liquor store on the strip and this place has snacks, sandwiches, beer, wine etc. at very good prices. At least I think the name of it was the ABC liquor store. Anyway, for a quick snack, souvenir, etc. this is the place. MGM is also just a short walk as well. New York New York is also next door and with all the new shopping, restaurants, etc. going up between the two resorts, you will never be at a loss for something to do, even if it is just people watching, enjoying a favorite beverage.

    Anyway, I hope this helps.

I was impressed with the Monte Carlo to say the least.

Have a fun trip and please give us a trip report when you get back.

    Kindly,
    K-9treatbaker

Excellent description of MC, and I agree with it. We've stayed there several times and have always been pleased with the clean, comfortable rooms. The casino is small enough to not get lost in but big enough to have a good variety of games. I also like The Pub for drinks and apps in the afternoon.

MC is not the flashiest or fanciest property by any stretch, but it more than serves its purpose.

I also agree with "K-9Treatbarker" assessment. His posted detail are right on the money. Have stayed at Monte Carlo three time, two summer and one winter trip with zero complaints. I always considered the place to be "user friendly", if that makes any sense.
When you consider price range, it has one of the best locations on the strip. North, South and East, your surrounded by all things "Vegas".

Nice to hear good things about the Monte Carlo. Booked in a Monaco suite next week and the negative reviews really had me doubting my choice. Haven't stayed there since the year they first opened. Last time in Vegas was a three night at the Excalibur. So I'm guessing this will be a step up:evillaugh

K-9's description nailed MC. It's a good, solid, middle of the road choice. I've stayed there twice, once in a Spa Suite, and in a Monaco suite in January. I would not hesitate to stay there again and again.

It's not the best, it's not the worst. Go into it with realistic expectations and you won't be disappointed. Its location is its biggest strength. Connected to aria/tram to Bellagio, easy walk to anywhere middle-south strip. Older furniture in the rooms but who spends a ton of time in the room awake? Wired internet in room, wifi in food court. Overall clean. Can't wait to be back.

Monte Carlo gives you a sense of luxury. However, I will say that MC has no vibe in their casino and common spaces. Excalibur feels whimsical and NYNY feels exhilarating and Caesars may feel like the high-life lifestyle but MC generally has no clear vibe to me. It is a bit bland. But it looks nice. The standard room is pretty basic. Nothing about it really stood out to me. It felt like blah. Comfortable but not "comfy". Fair decor but not well-decorated. Minimum amenities. The highlight of MC is the pool. It has a nice wave pool, lazy river, big pool and jacuzzi. It also has a volleyball court. The vibe here is fun and chill. I like it. MC has a buffet, a food court and nondescript lounges. Another highlight for MC is that it is well-located and if you walk right through their mall, you are directly connected to Aria. There is also the tram in MC to Crystals and Bellagio.

Another plus to the MC is that you can easily navigate your way to the front door :) There is a CVS right next door which I found convenient (they sell some nice 2$ Las Vegas Calendars for souvenirs) I like the setup.....easy access to Aria. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

That vanilla scent in the low end casinos is :vomit: I always wonder what the smell is like that they are covering up?

Compared to Excal I think MC is a step up in "niceness". Compared to NYNY and TI I think it's equivalent, compared to Caesars MC is a step down (but much cheaper).

I've never been wowed by MC's casino, much preferring NYNY or Planet Hollywood, but you're so close to many other options, that shouldn't be a deciding factor.

Google "monte carlo pool complex las vegas" and you'll find many reviews and pictures.

With the various new restaurants built/being built in front of MC and NYNY + all of the 'old' places, you've got plenty of food choices in <5 min walking distance.

We've always been fond of MC we stayed there our second trip to Vegas back in 1998. Arriving in 10 days and really looking forward to it. TI and PH are too loud and party for us. I think of it as more for the older crowd...which we are. Not high end but we are not high end people. Mirage and MGM are probably the only "nicer" places that we have stayed at. Great description given earlier...solid mid range property IMO.

Agree with K-9treatbaker, and not much more to add, other than every time I run a comparison of pricing for more than the basic rooms, Monte Carlo comes up as cheapest for the 700 sq ft Monaco and Spa Suites (they call them suites, but they are really only rooms). It usually gives me the greatest value for my $.

    yes...

and to comment to the OP, let's just say, we stayed at MC our first trip to LV in 97, and then came back 2011,2012...2013 we gave MGM a try, and we are coming back to MC in 50 days...

room was clean, comfortable, just what we need for two guys (father and son) who just need a place to sleep and shower.

Much more convenient to everything, echoing the thoughts of another respondant who commented on the ease of getting to Aria, Bellagio...the closeness of ABC and CVS...across and down to PH if you want...not far from tix4tonite...Brew pub is good, friendly poker room, cant beat it for value and location...

yes, would we love to stay at Aria, and could we, sure, but rather spend the difference on food and gambling and shows...

I travel alot for business. I usually stay at Hampton Inns or Courtyards. I don't have the luxury of staying at full service business properties.

I equate the room quality at MC very much on par with most of the Hamptons I stay at. Decent, clean, reliable, dependable. I would not use the work luxurious.

But as previous posters have said, couple my above adjectives with LOCATION and it is one of the best value properties on the strip.

The pub is still there but they removed the brewery. They still have 50 or so beer on tap and good food

    Eltotaupin,

You will like Monte Carlo I am sure. And since you booked a Monaco Suite, the room will be even nicer than my basic room I had in Oct. And as I originally stated, my "basic" room was well above "basic" in my opinion.

When you check in, you might want to try the 20.00 trick and see if you can get an upgrade. I know it always hasn't worked at MC, but it never hurts to ask.

The Monte is your stereotypical middle tier on the strip. For the price, it's a good deal. The pool is by far the biggest perk. While I like NYNY as a whole better, the pool at MC is light years ahead. If pool is important, MC is a great choice. I like the casino at MC though it is a bit small. I enjoy grabbing a few pints at The Pub and the yogurt-in is great for a snack. If you're a coffee drinker, go to the Starbucks closer to the walkway to Aria. Much shorter line. Also the MC Buffet sucks.
