    My Trip Report

    Quick solo trip report

Arrived Saturday March 29 for three nights.

Flights – After flirting with Southwest for a few trips, I’ve pretty much become a loyal Delta customer for the last year or so. Delta’s nonstops out of Detroit can’t be beat, price-wise. Southwest has been so expensive lately…. Both my outbound and inbound flights were uneventful. On the way to Vegas, the in-flight movie was Nebraska and I loved it! It made the flight go so much faster. When I got there, I decided to take a taxi instead of the shuttle, because I just wasn’t in the mood for the potential hour long shuttle ride. Taxi driver was great. Didn’t long-haul me. He used to be a pit boss so we talked about gambling. Fare came to $13.40 and I gave him a 20.

Hotel – Stayed at Monte Carlo using my generic MLife offer (2 free nights, paid for the third). I love gambling at Monte Carlo so I figured I’d stay there and see if I can get some better offers for the future. Used the VIP check in room. The clerk was very friendly and seemed to know everyone who was staying in the hotel’s name. Like three people came in while I was there and she knew them all. She was on top of it. When I checked in around 10am there weren’t any good king rooms available, so I said screw it just give me 2 queens. I actually think I prefer having a 2 queen room now, even when I’m alone. That extra bed comes in handy to throw bags and clothes and stuff on and housekeeping doesn’t mess with it.

Monte Carlo’s hotel just isn’t the greatest. The lack of Wi-Fi in the rooms really bugged me. That’s a pain in the butt. I even asked when I checked in if there were any rooms with Wi-Fi yet and the clerk was like, “Noooo, sorry, they’re working on it.” (Yeah right). Monte could be my go-to hotel if they’d do an MGM-style renovation to their rooms.

Overall I prefer NYNY’s hotel, but Monte’s casino because the blackjack is so much better (can we merge the two?)

Food – First night I ate at MGM Grand Buffet using a MyVegas comp. Meh. I’d eaten there before and I thought it was much better the first time. I was just not impressed. Thank god it was free. I would have been angry had I paid $37 for it.

Sunday I had The Mirage buffet for breakfast using a MyVegas comp. I was not impressed with this either. I’m not a big fan of brunch. I prefer breakfast for breakfast and lunch for lunch. So all the lunch items get on my nerves at 8 am in the morning. The few breakfast items they did have were nothing special. They literally had the blandest scrambled eggs I’d ever had. I had to go to the omelet station guy to make me my own personal scrambled eggs cause they were so bad. Once again, thank god this was free.

That night I had KGB Burger in Harrahs using a Groupon. I was not impressed with this either (noticing a trend here?! I swear I’m not one of those picky eaters who finds something to bitch about for every meal). First they forgot to put mayo on my burger (the waitress didn’t write my order down when I ordered. I HATE when they think they’ll just be able to remember everything I tell them when I’m ordering). I always get my burgers medium well and this one was more like well done. Tasted like charcoal. I hate that taste. Had to soak it in condiments. I paid $12 for $30 worth of food so I guess it was alright. BLT Burger in the Mirage is sooooo much better though.

Monday morning I had a Cinnabon for breakfast (only one this time. My record is 3 Cinnabons in one sitting. The girl working was mortified that I ate three).

For dinner I ate at Gonzalez and Gonzalez in NYNY. I prefer this place to Diablos at Monte because it is better priced and the food is better, IMO. One of the waiters remembered me from when I ate there on my January trip. Yikes! I go to Vegas too much.

Tuesday morning I ate my last Vegas meal at the MGM Grand Buffet for breakfast. I like to stuff my face before my flight home cause that’s usually the only time I eat on travel day. I LOVE the MGM’s breakfast buffet. Whereas dinner disappointed me, breakfast always kicks butt.

Gambling – I’m mainly a blackjack player, and that was definitely true this trip. I played mainly at Monte Carlo and Bellagio. This trip I only played at $10-$15 H17 3-2 tables. I’ll never play 6-5. When I’m feeling lucky I’ll play at a $25 S17 table in the Bellagio in the early morning, but that didn’t happen this trip.

From my offer, I had $50 in freeplay and I used that on a quarter DDB machine in Monte. Only got like $25 out of it. My only VP play with my own money was at Aria on a quarter STP DDB machine. Hit four 2s pretty fast and left with a quick $100 in profit.

Monte Carlo was hit and miss for me. I had a couple really good sessions, and I couple not so good ones. The worst was a game of Blackjack Switch where I lost $100 in like 5 minutes. Yikes. The dealer was kind of annoying too. I was out of there fast. The best session was one morning when I was playing heads up with the dealer and I made like $150 in 10 minutes. One of the best dealers at Monte is named Martin. I always try to gamble at his table, but they had him on mostly carny games this trip so I didn’t get to play much with him.

Bellagio was also hit and miss for me. I gambled the most there, because their cocktail service just can’t be beat. I had a few sessions where I left the table up like $50 each time. Then I had one session where I lost $200. I should have left earlier, but I really liked the dealer and the table was having a good time, even though I’ve never seen a dealer pull so many 5s and 6s out of their butt to make 21 in my life. Mabel was the dealer’s name. She was great. I’d gambled at her table last time I was there in January too. I always like to look out for good dealers.

While we’re talking about Bellagio dealers, I have to mention one woman. I don’t remember her name. I was playing blackjack at her table one morning along with two other guys who knew each other. One of them was kind of a smaller Asian guy with a bald head who was flirting with her BIG TIME and she was flirting right back. It was seriously the most inappropriate conversation I’ve ever heard at a blackjack table. Things I learned about this dealer: She’s always “in the mood” and she wears out her boyfriend, the carpet doesn’t match the drapes because “I’m as smooth down there as your bald head,” and she loves receiving oral sex (to which the bald Asian said good because he loves giving it, “even to hookers.”) I don’t want to sound like I was offended, because I wasn’t. I thought it was hilarious. But I know some people would have definitely been offended and would have complained. That was definitely my most memorable moment of the trip. He even told her his room number and gave her his room key (!!!).

I also had a couple sessions playing blackjack at the Flamingo because I wanted to gain some points with CET and see if I get any offers on their calendar (I think this was a miserable failure because my rates have gone way up since then). My Flamingo sessions were both very profitable.

When I got home and did my final bankroll tally, I had $205 more than I had when I left for Vegas. Nothing to really brag about, but a winning trip is a winning trip!

    Congrats on a winning trip!

I'll keep an eye out for Martin on my upcoming stay at MC.

Oh what I would do to have $200 more than I left with on our last trip. I will try to get a report together this weekend. My philosophy is any trip you come home with more than you left with is a great trip, and any trip where you come home with some of your gambling budget left is a good trip.

Pretty sure I've had that dealer at Bellagio. I did quite a few double takes at some things she said. Note: I am not a bald Asian man.

    Thanks for not playing 6:5!

She was brownish-blonde. Hair was a little longer than shoulder length. If I had to guess, I'd say she was late 30s-early 40s.

Interesting conversation between the dealer and the bald guy. Surprised to hear about MC wifi. Congrats on coming home a winner!

I didn't know MC doesn't have wifi - is this a normal thing? Isn't that part of the resort fee?

The only thing I can think of lately is stepping off that plane and getting a Cinnabon. Vegas is the ONLY place I will eat one, and it will be to go since it will take me the better part of the day to do so. They are so fattening but SO GOOD!

Funny what you said about the buffets - we would never pay for buffets in Vegas. Every time we have them it is either an MLife comp or MyVegas comp. I'm a vegetarian and I hardly eat that much so I would never get my money's worth. I also hated the lunch items at 8am on the Mirage buffet last time I went. Totally bugged me too! But, I will take free whenever free is available...more money for the bankroll!

What was the table min for BJ at MC? They always look really crowded when we pass by. Do they have the free bet BJ yet?

I thought we had it bad with a burping and farting female dealer a few years ago at Mirage - sounds like this one beats ours out!

Glad you had a good time. Thank you for posting, I can't wait for our trip!

MC has wifi in the food court and maybe accidentally some rooms right above that. In most rooms you just have an Ethernet cord
