My Mom is not a gambler, she plays the slots but will want to try tables this go round. (it is her birthday after all!!)

What is the easiest table game where she wont piss off the other players and catch onto.

Blackjack is always simple BUT you can definitely piss people off easily there. I don't need people taking out a 70 yr old lady because she didn't hit on a card lol

Roulette and mini-baccarat are pretty easy - no strategy to learn and you can't "screw up the cards" or anything like that.

Roulette can be very exciting...but it can eat up your bankroll quickly too. Kinda like slots.

I would say craps and just bet the pass line when it's her time to roll make sure everyone knows its her first time and watch everyone load up on the inside bets and hope for a beginners luck roll.

Black Jack is fun and easy, the dealers are willing to help you out. If you sit at a $5 table, there's not much chance of making anyone mad. Most people at that level are not going to be upset. I know there are a few exceptions but I'm sure you can find a friendly table. Also, Riviera has $1 black jack and I took my wife and 2 girls there last Thanksgiving and we all had a blast! In fact, we went back the next day on the way to the airport because we had so much fun! Good Luck!

    Table Game

You would play a game where you don't interfere with the "flow" of the game....this would rule out BJ, as you mentioned and craps (you don't want a newbie making late bets or putting his/her hand over the table when the dice are rolled....give baccarat or pai gow poker a try...in each game, when you play or don't play has no bearing on the outcome for the other players....the rules are pretty simple for each game and you only get the cards that are dealt....

Introduce her to Pai Gow. If she knows basic poker hands she'll do fine, and it's a game she can ask as often as she likes of the dealer. It's a social game, her decisions won't affect anyones outcome, and she can't get hurt too bad financially as it is basically a 50-50 game with pushes about 40% of the time, so she can sit for hours without ever losing too much.

Big Six. There is nothing to learn. There are rarely a lot of players at the table. And it's impossible to screw up

Roulette is my vote. Very simple. Pick your numbers, either inside, outside, or both. Make sure you have minimum bet for both inside and out if your playing both. If you win, don't pick up your winnings until the glass marker is picked up.

    This confirmed crapshooter also rocommends....roulette!

I think your mom will enjoy the experience of the game. It's the game you see James Bond play in all those movies. And it really has a casino vibe that she'll appreciate.

There's no one bet that worse than another. No strategy to mess up. No pain-in-the-ass other players at the table to browbeat her for "messing up" their misplayed hands. (Twenty-one) No confusing sucker bets being thrown in all the time. (Craps) No pressure to make high perentage side bets as well as the normal ones. (Pai gow poker, three card poker) ("Hey, sailor! Why you no make draaagon bet?")

On the whole, a real gambling game for a "newbie" that will give Mom a good gamble.

    3-Card poker...plenty of tables...even $5 tables...easiest table game in the world.
Stay in with Q-6-4 or better. Fold everything else.
Just tell her to be sure not to fold a straight or a flush. I have seen newbies almost do that.

If she plays at CET, tell her skip the 6-card bonus bet.
    She'll probably want to play the pair-plus...so, $15/hand at a $5 table.

Skip the pairs plus...it may be fun, but your money lasts longer not playing it - I've done both.

And how do you feel when you get a straight flush?

Lots of people say to playing the Pass Line with odds is the best.

I'm just asking now, don't pile on, but wouldn't Field bets be the best for a rank noob, until they start to get a handle on odds and such?

Yeah 3CP is a great starting point. Easiest game there is, and you can always help others at the table. You definitely want to play pair plus as that gives you the chance for a big win, and the odds are only a few % worse than the ante bet. I agree with skipping the 6 card bonus though, odds on that are terrible (more than twice as bad as PP) and it doesn't hit very often either.

IMO, playing 3CP without playing PP is pretty silly....if you just want to bet one unit to win one unit, why aren't you at a BJ table with a far lower HA?

I vote for pai gow as well, or my new CET fave, High Card Flush....totally brainless game that is more of a community game. The hand you get is the hand you get. Have fun...I just took my Mom to Vegas for her 70th....you'll have a blast!

For the first timer let her have a taste of being paid odds on her bet. She's there for the thrill. I say go for it.
