    Hey all,

I was planning on watching the FSE from Gold Diggers balcony at the Golden Nugget - one reason that I booked in there (we had planned to do this on numerous trips...but just never got there). We also booked in there because we have always wanted to go to the infinity pool...never made it there either - last time it was closed, in May.

Well, I am booked in at the Nugget for a Monday - and Gold Diggers isn't open on Monday's.

Where is a good place (besides just in the street) to have a drink and watch the light show?

I always thought it was odd that people sat down and watched the show. It just seems like a place to party standing up to me. I suppose if there were a bunch of seats I would use them but probably for me it would ruin the vibe somewhat. like sitting at a hoping rock concert sort of.

Same here! I usually take down a tall can from ABC store while I crane my neck and gawk at the lights amongst the crowd. Its seems more fun to me that way, maybe the patio bar outside of Four Queens would be a good spot.

The"D" also has a nice deck to either watch the show, relax with a drink, or my favorite.......PEOPLE WATCH. After 10pm people watching(drunks) is a heck of alotta fun!!

The people watching would be awesome. The first time went went to see the FME, we were excited. We lasted about ten seconds. Maybe there was more to it but neither of us could handle suffering through American Pie.

    But the people watching....

I would also buy one and it is not enforced, but did you know that is illegal? To walk with an open drink legally, it has to be purchased at a casino-type place. So, ABC, the gift shops etc can sell you a drink, but it is technically illegal to consume it on Fremont.

All this has become an issue since the E Fremont area has become so popular and people are showing up with their own drinks, or even cases of beer. Think young people.

I don't know how they would enforce it, but all of the gift shops, ABC etc, now have a sign posted on their storefronts listing the regulations on consumption of alcohol in public on Fremont.

I always liked getting drinks from this place downtown and it's been more than 5 years so I can't remember the name. Maybe some one else will know, but it's basically like a tiki themed little shack like store front. I remember it had slot machines but they mostly sold frozen drinks by the foot or yard or something in huge plastic souvenir cups. One size was so big it had straps to carry it by. I remember getting a huge strawberry drink and playing some slots. I drank that thing for almost 2 hours. I ingested so much red food coloring from that drink, the next day I swore I thought I was dying (if you get my drift). :ssst: Anyway, I'm hoping this place still exists because I'm planning on hitting it up. Of course, this time I'm going with a different color...

papagiorgio - I think the place you are talking about is a little slot shack called La Bayou. It's still around.

another good place for FSE viewing is Binion's Whiskey Licker bar, plus its right by the free music stage. and Gold Diggers balcony at GN, of course.

The 4Queens outdoor patio has seats that front FSE. Both it and the Whiskey Licker Bar at Binions have good views. However, at 4Queens they have cocktail service starting in the evening while at Binions you walk up to the bar and get drinks yourself.

Wow, wolfman, I just looked up some pictures of La Bayou and you are spot on. When I was there 5 years ago I must have been seriously sloshed. I would never have thought of that place being a mardi gras theme. I truly remembered it being "tiki hut" like with some kind of interior thatch roofing or something. Anyway, I loved that placed. Just two weeks ago I was googling stuff on Fremont Street to see if I could find it. I just remember that big azz drink.
