For my upcoming trip I have a budget of 20K that I will be depositing as front money at the Mirage. I plan on playing blackjack, baccarat, and pai gow tiles with an average bet of $400 for 4 hours per day. (I will probably play more than 4 hours) I am estimating theoretical at: $400 x .01% House Edge x 60 hands x 4 hours = $960 per day I am estimating total comps at : 960 Theo x 40% x 3 days = $1152 available for host to comp. Does this look about right? As a side note does play at another MGM property affect the hosts ability to comp? I like to bounce around and will probably play some baccarat at Aria or Bellagio as the Mirage room is not very busy.
you will get more from mlife and mirage and your host there if you just stick to the one property if you really care about comps.he has more latitude if you stick just to his property. im dealing with this now i get great at Aria , mgm is a total joke they lost my bussiness
im local so i never need a hotel and i know mlife , cet and most hotel players sytems well. so i was going to hakkasan a few times. i play bj. never ask for a host or anything from mgm. i recied a a email offering please stay with us next time your in town ill take care of your stay blah blah blah . when i explained i dont need a room im local but maybe free concert or show or fight tickets or nite club would work i was shot down. they say my play did meet there requerments . now i know i does as i get it at aria and aria is a higher end propert. ps my offer at aria is limo 3 nites stay 300$ resort credit ,. sky suite . mgm suggest i used my express comps wich i new i could use. aria has used my descretionary for 7th row O tickets and a ton off free food. this what mgm wants for just concert tickets from players. Usually, 4 hours per day with average bets over $200 on Blackjack is a good start for a concert. If you’re a craps player, you would probably need to double that average. psss. when i asked what my avarage bet was and how long they had me in for 4.5 hours at 450$ . so i played just becuase i was hanging out at the club , my bets where from 200 too 2000$ .i think there pissed i won over 10 grand. so thats how they loose bussiness i know my play at mgm deserves something if your offering me free rooms that i dont need why not as pair of concert tickets. its only 200$. so if did that play at aria i could have gone to my regular host and he would have done something as i take no comps except for the ec's they give as i dont use a room so they want to come back throw me a bone . theres my rant
Yes, your calculations are reasonable. Hard to know the exact numbers (1% HA?, 60 hands per hour?), but my MGM/Mlife host tells me that a quick and dirty calculation for BJ players is: Comps = average bet per 4 hours. In other words, if you average $400 for 4 hours a day, you should get about $400 in comps per day. So in your case, that works out to $1,200 - almost exactly what you came up with in your formula. As for playing at other MGM/Mlife properties, it should theoretically not impact total comps. However, you should know that the host at the resort where you are staying does not get "credit" for your play at other properties. This means that in practice, your host will not do anything above and beyond the minimum if you play too much off site. It is fine to play at other MGM properties during your stay, so long as the majority is at home base. If you get in a full 4 hours at home base per day, and then have a few additional hours elsewhere during the trip, your host will think nothing of it. And finally, I agree with paperposter in that locals seem to get screwed with comps and host treatment. This is only based on what I read consistently, as I have never been a Vegas local.
I don't have a host to keep happy and while I concentrate my play at the hotel I'm staying at I sometimes like to hop casinos because of their atmosphere or the itch to buy in strikes me when I'm there. Such as I like roulette at the Aria despite not ever staying there. So if I'm staying at NYNY and I go to the MLIFE desk to see if they can knock off anything my play at Aria won't negatively affect me?
the big differnce between cet and mlife is cet doesnt hold you to the 4 hour rule and minum bet like mlife does and at cet i can property bounce and there fine with it.thats what i like. if take a beating i can atleast move to another property and get a fresh start and still get credit with the host being fine with my play
Your Aria play will, not negatively effect you. All your play adds to your theo and Express Comps at any MLife property.
Here's my math for the info you gave based on my knowledge of the subject. For simplicity sake, I'll assume you play equal amounts of all three games: Blackjack $400 x .007 x 72 hands x 4 hours = $806 Baccarat $400 x .01 x 50 hands x 4 hours = $800 Pai Gow Tiles $400 x .018 x 30 hands x 4 hours = $864 Express Comps will be roughly: $124 (5%) Primary Comps available to the host: $667(27%) Total Comps available: $791 Standard room comp rate @ Mirage : $140 x 3 = $420 This leaves about $370 over 3 nights for meals and entertainment. If you find yourself in the hole for over $10k at any point, stop and go see your host. At that point you may find they'll give you some freeplay or show tickets or something like that.
I agree with this. If you are using the generic Mlife desk to ask for comps and do not need to "keep your host happy", there is no difference in comps whether you spread your play around various Mlife/MGM casinos or play 100% where you are staying.
true but not the descrotionary that a host at one property might have if you concetrate all your play at one place
