    My Trip Report

Well our first trip to Vegas is over and we had a blast. I wish I had kept a log of everything we did while we were there, I meant to and actually started but didn't make it past day 2. We stayed at Harrah's for the eight nights we were there and were extremely satisfied with our room and the hotel overall. Everyone was so nice and went out of their way to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. One of our main reasons for going was to play poker and we accompished that and then some by playing in card rooms up and down the strip. Buffets at Mirage, Rio and Red Rock Casino along with one of the best T-bone steaks I have ever had at The Roadrunner Saloon in Summerlin.
In all I think I was able to set foot in every Casino on the Strip starting at TI right on down to Mandalay Bay. Three times during my stay I began walking from Harrahs and wandered down the strip all the way to MGM and then took the monorail back to Harrahs.

Played poker at the following casinos:
Harrahs: Played most of my poker at Harrahs, it was convenient since we were staying there. Very nice atmosphere and the staff are excellent.
TI: Played one morning here, was a good game but a smallish room
Venetian: Very extravagant room. only played a couple hours here. Strange part was my wife had trouble on the blackjack table she played on and the pit boss really didn't seem interested in correcting a dealer error and the dealer seemed not to care that she made a mistake and had no interest in even considering it. Unlikely we will ever go there again based on the experience.
Mirage: I really liked the room here. Good cash games and tournaments are okay as well. Nice room environment and the staff are all quite nice
The Quad: Played here a couple of days, poker room tucked into a corner but still out in the open if that makes sense. Was a good game but was not interested in the tournaments of here.
Caesars: Played cash and WSOP Circuit event (non-ring event). Was not really digging the vibe here but a nice enough room and the people/staff were friendly. Had fun in the circuit event but was unceremoniously felted when AJs < 45os against super agro internet kiddie allin preflop (caught him in a bluff and he hit lucky.
Flamingo: Played once here for a couple of hours. Nice mix of regulars and tourists (of which I was one). A lot of limit games happening here which hold no interest to me
Bally's: Played here the second night in Vegas. Not much to say, pretty active cash game (good for me) and a variety of games offered.
Planet Hollywood: Played here for a morning. Locals here are very nice and the staff are excellent. Will definitely play here more next time I am in Vegas
Golden Nugget: Played cash for a while then entered a tournament. Did a 3 way chop in the tourney for 700 each...good night overall. The room itself is nice but quarters are a little cramped for my liking as I am a little on the big side but would definitely go back.

Tried a couple of buffets Cravings (Mirage), All World (Rio), Red Rock Casino Buffet (name escapes me). Our favourite was Cravings....the food was excellent and good value, not to mention all you can drink beer on tap and wine if you chose. Went to the Roadrunner Saloon in Summerlin and had what was quite possibly the best T-bone steak I had ever had...3 people ate entrees plus 4 beer and bottle of water for $70. Excellent value and delicious food not to mention a funky cool atmosphere. We ate at Toby Keith's bar and grill at Harrahs, food was very good and price was reasonable. I went to KGB at Harrahs and had an awesome burger and fries with a Strawberry shake that was amazing.

Played some machines at a couple of the casinos and ended up overall and also played some limited table games with a little success but nothing to brag about. All in all we had a fantastic time during our first foray to Las Vegas and are very much looking forward to a trip back in mid-November

Eight days for your first trip? Impressive! Glad you had a great time! Next time you're there, keep an eye on the Venetian deep stack series. If you're there while it's running, there might be some events you'd want to play in. And of course, the cash game action will be really plentiful there.

Glad you enjoyed your stay at Harrah's. We've stayed there on a few occasions and really enjoy our stay there. Decent rooms, clean, and comfy...oh, and the price is fair. I don't need a fancy room that I won't see anyway.
We love it for location also. Bus stop heading north right outside and the southbound across the street at Mirage.
Two trips back, we also ate at Toby Keith's and had a great meal. We had a groupon but I would go back again even without some kind of deal. We also do their buffet for breakfast on occasion, again, decent enough. Pretty hard to screw up breakfast. Thanks for sharing

Yeah we found the staff super friendly and helpful the entire time we were there and that is why we are going to stay there again in November and as you say the location is great. Not much detail in this report but will keep better notes when we go again in November

Nice TR, sir! You enjoy the exact games and poker rooms as I do. I can't wait to hit them up in a little over a week.

Did you play at the GN cash games in the morning/afternoon or later in the evening? I liked the games earlier and disliked the games later ones. GN has unlimited buy-ins, and the pros and semi-pros would bring thousands of dollars to the table. One guy came in with $5k.

Just wondering where you are from. 8 days is a lot for most, but we travel from TX and like to stay no less than five nights. Our next trip is in June/July and we are staying 7 nights. Sounds like your first trip was a great one.

Played cash until 945pm or so then registered for 10pm NLHE tourney. I managed to cash for $700 in the tourney. Cash game was strange as there were 3 spots that were over raising or overbetting the pot, maybe by design but who knows. Felt like a pretty soft game in 3/4 of the table.

We are from Prince Edward Island on the East coast of Canada. We chose to stay 8 nights as we wanted to be sure we did everything we wanted to and even at that there were a few things we did not do :confused2:
We have already booked for November and will be coming again for 8 nights
