Has anyone bought alcohol at the airport before?

I was just browsing what's in McCarran and noticed there is an airport liquor store there. Prices may be a bit higher but would save time searching around for one I'd think?

Haven't bought anything but I have gone in and checked it out. Prices are definitely 25-30% higher than going to the abc store. I guess its a convenience thing. Saves you from going to the store... or if you wanna have a couple beers in the cab / limo.
They do have a decent selection though.

Last week we grabbed a 12 pack of Heineken, 6 huge waters, and 6 huge Gatorades for about $40.

Certainly more expensive than stopping at a liquor store off strip, but the extra cost was worth the convenience. It was much cheaper than trying to pick it up on the strip.

I've bought a case a beer in there a few times. Maybe it is because I am from Canada but I thought the prices were reasonable. I paid less than I expected but that was just for beer. I've never bought any hard stuff there.

The store is called the Liquor Library.

I have picked up a few items on a couple of trips. As the other posters have said, yes, the prices are high. However, I felt that the convenience was worth it. I was in and out before my bag appeared on the carousel. The selection is very decent, with a good selection of wine.

My Vegas motto is always "time is money". If you can pick it up there and avoid trekking to a liquor store later on it's well worth it. When we take a limo we'll stop on the way to the hotel otherwise this is a good option so you'll be well stocked right off the bat.

Last trip, I got my suitcase off the carousel, looked at my watch & realized that I had a 30 minute wait for the WAX bus.

Went over to the Liquor Library & got a few airline bottles of Kahlua for my morning coffees.

Saved me a shopping trip once I got downtown.

Wow. I've been in such a hurry to get out of the airport, that I've never noticed this place before.
Where is it? By the bag carousels?

If I buy a beer in there, can I drink while I wait in the half hour cab line???

It is down by the bag carousels in Terminal 1, south end. If you are arriving via the C concourse, it is near where the escalators dump you into baggage claim.

I'm not sure about drinking in the cab line. If I were a betting man (and I am)... I say yes. :D

    Just do it!

Worst case scenario you have to dump it out.

If that happens...be polite, toss it and there should be no issue.

On the other hand...is it worth the possible hassle to just wait another 1/2 hour?

I buy a tall boy and hit up the sample girl while waiting for my luggage every single time I'm there. Never bought booze for the room though.
