We're heading to Vegas in April and I currently have our first two nights free at Aria on a myVegas comp, and the second two nights are up in the air. I booked an Aria Corner, and was planning to see if we could then get the myvegas nights upgraded for free/cheap too and keep the whole stay in one room, but I'm also looking at moving to the Tower Suites at either Wynn or Encore (somewhat agnostic, at this point, as to which). I've been to Vegas several times but it's my wife's first trip, and it's an anniversary trip, so this is a bit of a splurge for us. Prices are fairly similar - the Aria corner is $200/night with a $100 resort credit, plus the resort fee. The Wynn (which I'd book through Amex FHR) is $260 (Encore is 251), but I believe there are no resort fees and we still get the wi-fi and fitness center amenities. Free breakfast with that booking essentially makes the prices even, and there's effectively a $100 credit there too. We won't be gambling at either place, so that's immaterial.

The things we care about, roughly in order, are:

    1) The nicer the tub/bathroom, the happier she'll be
    2) Location for exploring, since she's never been to Vegas
    3) Comfort of the beds
    4) View (all else equal, I'd rather have the closest "classic strip view" I can get

Any opinions from someone who has stayed in both? Because it's FHR, the Wynn has a chance of an Executive suite upgrade and the Encore has a chance at a Parlor Suite, but I'm not counting on that as likely; however, if I do decide to go with Wynncore the second two nights, then the choice of which basically comes down to "is the chance at a parlor suite in Encore worth the further distance compared to the chance at executive suite in Wynn?" The $9 difference in cost is obviously immaterial. So, input on that question is helpful too!

    Thank you!

I would go with the Wynn/Encore Tower Suites over the Aria Corner Suite because I think the service is better and I prefer the overall property of Wynn/Encore over Aria (I’m an avowed Wynnophile though, so keep that in mind). Plus, I just think the rooms are more comfortable at Wynn/Encore. Aria’s rooms just feel a bit "cold" to me.

However, based on your criteria, I think Aria might be the better fit. Better (in the eyes of most) location, bigger suite, huge bathroom with 180 degree views from the tub. The bed comfort is going to come down to personal preference – the beds at Aria and Wynncore are two of the most comfortable I’ve slept on. I will say that Wynn probably has Aria beat on views, though. Encore has some views that are even better, IMO. But in order to get the good views at Encore, you might have to put up with some nightclub noise coming up into the room. So, if you’re light sleepers and will be heading up to the room prior to 3-4 am, I’d advise you to choose a north-facing room if you choose Encore.

I also think that changing hotels should be taken into consideration. For me, that would be more of a reason to stay at Aria. But, there are people on this board who prefer to move hotels midway through the trip. Either way, I guess it would probably be an important factor.

If you do end up going the Wynncore route…I think that the potential for the Parlor Suite upgrade would tip the scales toward the Encore side for me (and I prefer Wynn, generally).

You really can’t lose, though. You’re picking from three great options. Enjoy and best of luck.

thecarve summed it up quite well. I'll add a couple comments.
I am likewise a Wynn fan, stay there 4 times out of 5 visits. I have stayed in an Aria corner a couple times on comps and one time the view was nothing special.
Your upgrade at Wynn with FHR would most likely be to a Parlor as the Executives are limited and popular. If you do get a Parlor then it would be no contest at all.
I would choose Wynn, even in a standard Tower Suite room over an Aria corner but your wife's first time location may sway the choice to Aria.
Likewise your April date is a toss-up. In pool weather it would be Wynn TS all the way. April most likely will allow pool use but it also may be a bit cool or windy.
This probably hasn't helped but you have only positive choices that really can't go wrong.

Thanks for the insight! Another possible data point: We aren't likely to be interested in the pool on this trip, but we might avail ourselves of a spa day pass (probably not a whole treatment) with the intent of just a couple hours of relaxation. Both spas seem to be extremely highly rated, though, so I've been writing that off as a wash. It looks like both room types offer reasonable size tubs, with jets in the corner suite and in the possibly upgraded Wynncore suites (but not the basic tower)? Is that accurate?

As far as location, even when I stayed at Palazzo, Encore did feel "pretty far". Wynn didn't seem quite so bad. But I suspect, too, that the third night we're there - which would be the first at Wynn if we move - is when we're going to go visit Fremont Street, probably from the bus. So in that one sense, location might balance out. The only thing I think we would definitely alter in our plans if we move is that we might not go all the way down to Mandalay Bay/Shark Reef/Border Grill for dinner.

Being a fan of both, all of your criteria are superior at Aria. Corner suite has an incredible view and an amazing bathroom (*edit, there are many different corner suites, granted I stayed on the end closest to Cosmo and really liked it). Aria location is also really good, center strip and you can tram to Bellagio. And Aria has the best beds in Vegas, bar none.

That being said Wynncore rooms are really really nice no matter which route you go, location a little less ideal and if you get rooms on the side closest to the strip you have a chance for some really really nice views as well. You won't go wrong with either choice. If it were up to me I'd do aria corner because I like the room & location much better.

Go with Wynncore. Probably the nicest hotel on the strip, IMO.

You cannot go wrong with either but I think Aria Corner Suites are a better fit.

1.The bathrooms in most of the Corner Suites is nicer and larger than Encore.

    2.Slightly better location

    3.Most comfortable beds anywhere!!!

4.You can get various views from Corner Suites.
I usually ask for a corner closer to Monte Carlo than Cosmo.
Best views and bathrooms are from the Panoramic Corner Suites.

5.Not on your list but to me it is important.
The Corner Suites are real suites with a separate living room and bedroom.
The Encore rooms are divided by a half wall.
My wife and I get up at different times and it's nice to be able to leave the bedroom door closed and watch TV in the living room.
At Wynn you have to go the Parlor suites for that.

A more apples to apples comparison would be a Wynn Tower Suite versus an Aria Sky Suite. In that scenario I would choose the Sky Suite.

And, FYI, the Sky Suites are now a part of the FHR program in case you don't know.

I did know that, but it's interesting you say that's a better comparison, because the price of the Sky Suite is substantially higher, and so that's why I ruled it out. I'm actually not terribly concerned with "service" (at least, beyond the expectation of things like a clean room and friendly employees) simply because I don't think we'll use it much. I know the city well enough, make reservations I care about ahead of time, get show tickets at Tix4Tonight, things like that.

I go with Wynncore preferable Encore but you can't go wrong with either. You are already staying 3 nights at Aria why not change it up and stay at the best casino resort that Vegas has to offer. You have plenty of time to explore the mid strip the first 3 days it will be a nice change of pace to head to the north strip.

I have stayed in a few corner suites at Aria. Some have a master bathroom which is totally interior(no windows at all). Room 20-246 is one of those so avoid if you can.

A Wynn Tower Suite is ca 700 sq ft while an Aria sky suite is over 1000 sq ft.

    Apples and oranges.

So 300 sq ft makes it apples to oranges? Both are hotels within a hotel, offer personalized service, more intimate feel, etc... And they absolutely compete with each other for business.

And the corner suites are similar in size.

I have stayed in the Tower Suites at Wynn several times and Corner Suites at Aria 7-8 times.
I don't think saying "good chance at an upgrade to a parlor" is realistic.
I asked for upgrades every time there and was denied.
I stayed in a parlor once and payed.

IMO the Parlor is closer to the one bedroom SkySuite.

When you've booked, has it been through a portal that offers an "upgrade if available", or have you just booked direct with Wynn and asked nicely at the desk?

I haven't stayed at Wynn, but I've stayed in Aria Corner City View Suites a couple of times, in the layout type I prefer (bedroom has two walls of windows), and the bathroom is definitely not the selling point of that layout. It's long and narrow and doesn't have a spacious feel at all.

It's true the tub is near a window, but overall, the bathroom is small and nothing really special, not as nice, IMHO, as in the standard room at Venetian/Palazzo or THEhotel.

this is booking through AMEX FHR. not booking direct though wynn.

at wynn the ts room upgrades to executive suite with fhr, encore to a parlor
at wynn i've only book ts room once and was upgraded to executive
booked parlors and upgraded to salon 3 of 3 times.
at encore i'm something like 8 for 12 upgrading from ts room to parlor.

breakfast credit through fhr is $80/day so if you subtract that from the rate, (and add in the aria resort fee) it's actually cheaper.. although the wynn credit is a spa credit, not resort credit.
