Whats the word on DELANO?

Just wondering when/if this is going to happen.. Aren't we all!

It looks like THEHotel is showing open availability through early 2015. So not sure when this transformation will even take place this year.

Any new news out there when Delano is coming to town?

 

I asked my host at MB last week, and he said it was still a go for 2014 - at least the start of the remodel. Not sure when it will officially change.

 

Do they still have VHS players in the suites? A least they could do themselves a favor and rip those out.

 

Website still says Fall 2014. Given the lack of any noticeable progress, I'm starting to think that this isn't as significant a project as we'd originally thought; it might be more of a room-by-room refresh than a true property-wide renovation.

 

It will indeed be a "floor by floor" (as opposed to "room by room") renovation, with the hotel (small "the") being open throughout. Not sure when they will redo the lobby and things like THEcafe...

 

This has unfolded SLOWLY with nearly no publicity--makes me wonder if it is going to happen at all. I was looking forward to it.

 

Sounds right. Speaking of which, I also noticed that the Morgans website specifically references "the luxurious Bathhouse spa" (https://www.morganshotelgroup.com/delano/delano-las-vegas), which is the existing name for the facility.

 

I'll really miss seeing the "THEtp" stickers on the toilet paper!

 

i'll be glad when the name is changed, it would have saved me an hour trying to find my friend who was lost at "the hotel"

 

TheHotel anyone seen any major changes yet?

We are staying at thehotel in June and I was wondering if anyone has run into any construction or anything if they have stayed recently? I know the Delano is official in Sept 2014.

 

Ive known about the four seasons being on-site and the delano replacing "the hotel". Is the Mandalay Bay/mgm trying to bring in 5star resorts to basically sub-rent out the land they are on?

This is what it seems like to me.

 

It turns out that the remodeling is well underway already! They are doing it floor by floor (as indicated earlier). I was told they are behind, and will likely miss the "fall 2014" date for completion. It is likely to be late 2014 or very early 2015 now.

The interesting part: at least one floor (perhaps more) is already done. Although you cannot explicitly request it, there is now a chance that if you book at THEhotel, you will end up with one of the remodeled rooms. It will not be referred to as a Delano room, but it will in fact be a new Delano room. It will be the new layout, furniture, etc... although it may still have THEhotel branded items (i.e., THEtp).

Who will be the first lucky board member who randomly gets a Delano room???

 

LOL, Everytime I hear it, I think of the shitty little town in Central California (forgive me, if your from there)

 

Been staying there for 5 years and they have had DVD players all that time, just how long ago are you talking about.:evillaugh

I heard they had delayed it, because they've just been too busy to close it. Maybe originally it was gonna be an all at once thing.

I'm excited for this! I LOVE Mandalay Bay, it'll be nice to see these rooms refreshed.

 

I may go ask the house keeping staff for all of their "THEtp" stickers once they make the official change, I'd love slapping these in every bathroom I've visited

 

Remember that Four Seasons opened with the property back in 1999. Fifteen years ago, the idea of a luxury, non-gaming property was pretty much unheard of in Las Vegas; these days, de-emphasizing gambling is pretty much par for the course (much to our chagrin), but they were very much a niche property back then. The idea of a few floors of an ultra-high-end, non-gaming hotel makes a lot of sense to me.

Also, Four Seasons is a management organization and actually runs their properties. Whereas my understanding of the Delano relationship is that it's mostly for licensing purposes; they're paying to use the name, but MGM will still operate the property.
