So is this a way to get extra money out of people with casino specific offers? I have an offer from NY-NY for 2 nights comped, limo to and from airport and $50 free play and the only way to book it is through VIP services number at NY-NY, not available on the MLife site.

When I call to book my June trip I'm going ask about waiving this as I have no other option to book. In the end it's only $10 but also phone is the only way I can book the offer so it's like a trap.

I also saw the 10.00 charge on the New York New York web site for any reservation made over the phone. It was in the upper right hand corner.

I really disagree with this charge. And most of the time, when I do make a reservation via phone, I get a lot better rate than the internet. Go figure.

Hope they waive the fee for you. I certainly would ask.

I wonder if this only applies to the main line, not VIP services line. Although that wouldn't make much sense because M life is free to join, which would give you VIP services access.

from my understanding it doesnt matter. I contacted the MLife line for Bellagio to inquire on my rates since i wanted to book 2 rooms. They said I'm better off doing it online cause it was going to cost a little more if he did it on the phone. I had already seen the $10 phone charge on the websites for MGM properties so I assumeed that was also going to be applicable although the MLife rep didn't specifically state the $10 phone charge, other than it was a little higher if he made it for me. so I went to the website and made my reservations.

They're certainly making doing business with them less desirable in every way these days aren't they?

The $10 won't apply for you. It's just for generic bookings, not MLife offers booked the the VIP line.

    Title of thread is incorrect

The 10 dollar phone fee is not a MLife charge, it is a MGM Resorts charge. There is a difference.

Welp since most on this board refer to MGM Resorts as MLife properties, I'm pretty sure that's pretty close to "to-may-to" to "to-mah-to". But way to be critical, I'm glad you saw the point of the post.

But yes you are right in a sense because CC is an MGM Resort technically but not an MLife property. But again thanks for being critical because I'm sure no one on the board understood my post with that confusing title.

It is not the same. I just called the MLife member service line, and was told the 10 fee is for reservations made through the MGM resort phone numbers, and does not apply to reservations made through MLife. Far from "to-may-to to to-mah-to", or being critical. Don't be so defensive.

Well that's funny because I just got off the phone with NY-NY VIP services and was told I would have to pay the $10 phone reservation charge to book my summer offer unless I did it online. To which I replied I have no option to book it online the offer says to call the VIP Services number to book. So therefore I was making a reservation through MLife and was still being charged because it was an MGM Resort phone number albeit NY-NY VIP services number.

So needless to say they are clearly telling us different things. Classic MGM/MLife (both named to avoid any confusion).

I've never really felt my play warrants a host. Feel rude to teach out if they haven't reached out to me. Only play $25 blackjack for 2-3 hours day and about $34 a roll craps not counting odds for about 1-2 hours a day, most other money is spent in the sportsbook that MLife doesn't recognize.

Call them up. When they get to the point where they tell you it's going to cost you an extra $10, ask them to waive the fee. If they won't, ask them about the fee...when it started, why, what types of reservations are affected, what's the weather in Vegas like today...whatever. Eventually, just thank them and tell them you'll book online.

Then call back later and do the same thing. Repeat this as often as you have free time. Eventually you may get someone with the ability/desire to waive the fee. And if not, at least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing your reservation is going to cost them far more (in terms of man-hours) than it would have had they just allowed you to book over the phone in the first place.

I see the notation about a $10 phone booking fee on the MGM Resort's booking engine, but nothing on the mLife Player's Club site. I'm going to change the title of the thread to reflect this.

As for what the OP was told from NYNY, I think I could call back later and speak with someoe else. I would say the first person was mistaken. (but I've been wrong before.)

I just decided to deal with the $10 because after all it's only $10 and if that's gonna make or break a vacation you probably shouldn't be going on vacation.

But I hope for others they are able to get around this charge or atleast hope my representative was just incorrect because the nickel and diming is getting ridiculous.

While I agree it's not much money, I would argue the point if I had the spare time. It's like accepting a rate increase in your cable bill. They are probably ready to take it off if you complain, but they are just seeing how much or how little resistance there is to it.

I'm pretty sure CET has charged a fee for telephone bookings for at least 3 years.

Yes but CET also makes it incredibly easy to book offers and comps online unlike MLife/MGM. Most of my MLife offers have to be done by phone that's why I'm hoping I just had a mistaken representative when I called today because it seems unfair to charge $10 when the only way to book is via phone. It's one thing if online was an option and you still chose phone.

If you are getting a comp, they are not going to charge you.
