What's your favorite bet to make for the dealers at a craps table?

I like to throw a red chip in the field but not say anything. If it hits I take the 2 chips and toss it to the dealer and say "for the dealers". It never fails to bring a smile and a surprised thank you from them. Especially if the 2 or 12 hits.

I do other bets for them but this is my favorite. What's yours?

I do that as well. Never seen anyone else do it and yes the win generates smiles (as well as you have the opportunity to retain your chip for future "toke" opportunities.

If I bet the hardway and it hits (or loses) I have lost my chips. However, if a good table I will bet 5....if it wins, bet 6 (although not immediately), then 7 and so on until I lose my field bet. Usually do it once or twice as the dice make their way back to me. And oh yes, if 12 is rolled and you have 8 $ or so out there.....it IS noticed........

Glad to see someone else with that approach.....although any approach to enhance dealer income is welcomed by them......

I NEVER make a bet for the dealers that they don't know about, and you shouldn't, either!

Yeah, the surprise sure sounds nice, but in the end, all they care about is the money, and the fact that you tried for them.

What happens when your bet for them loses? They had no way of knowing it was for them! Even a lost wager is appreciated, because so few people bother to even make the effort. If you don't give them the chance to notice you are trying for them, they aren't going to "try" for you!

Always say, "This one is for the crew", when you make that wager!

I like crew on the line for a buck when I shoot. They seem to like it. It piles up quick on good rolls with lots of come out wins and points.

I make pass line bets for them. Don't forget to give them odds too.

    Ditto.

Once in a blue moon - if the pass line bets aren't hitting but my 6/8 are - I'll add to the 6/8 for the boys. But 95% of the time, it's pass line + full odds.

I do a 5 on the line when I shoot (5 odds if pt established). If the table is full and I won't shoot for a long time I'll do hard ways when we start getting a good run.

Two-way hard 6 and 8, "Parlay". $80 profit for you and the dealer.

Usually do two-way hardways bets at craps; if the table has been hot, will put $5 on the line and back it with odds.

I rarely bet hardways but I'll do a two way from time to time. I'll also do a pass line bet for the boys on occassion A good craps crew can make a table a lot more enjoyable. And I'll tip them accordingly.

I've been known to probably tip TOO much at a crap table (2-way hardways, line+odds for the dealers, occassional field bet)
The funniest part is...the last time I played at MSS and Gold Coast, after a few hours of playing (and tipping like I said) I asked the pit for a buffet comp and at BOTH places was DENIED, with no interaction from the dealers (to tell the boss that I was tipping)

One time I will always make a bet for the dealers is when they make a mistake in my favor.

If they somehow fail to take a losing bet, or over pay on a winning bet, etc. I will always immiditely make a pass line bet for them. If they somehow realize - even subconsiously - that they'll get toked if they make an error, then I want to encourage them.

Here's an example that happened to me last Saturday on a local casino cruise near my home.

I was standing next to the stick man and didn't have a line bet down (I had two numbers placed). After a natural winner, I guickly made a pass line bet, not realizing that the dealer was slow in paying the line, having had to explain the game to a drunk newbie who was "on the hook." Suddenly I see him pay my new pass line bet - an obvious past posting. And the boxman is looking right at me! I slid the payoff next to my bet and said "Dealers on the line," before the boxman could say anything. The game goes on as if nothing had happened. (The shooter made a pass and the crew took the toke down.)

About 20 minutes later - darned if that dealer didn't pay me $21.00 for a $5.00 place bet on the 5!

Was he just not thinking? Did he mistake my bet for one on another player's bet? Who knows? I'm not saying it was on purpose, but I'm always going to toke the dealer who makes mistakes in my favor.

I am like most of you, pass line with odds for the dealer. I never play the middle of the table but thinking I might play some hard ways this trip. Last time at Golden Gate over two nights 3+ hours each time, I think me and the DW where the only ones tipping.

I am pretty sure that it helped my rating at he casino because they offered to comp the suite with some free play for my Easter trip. I believe a little can go along ways in regards to tokes.

Usually, I just toss them a hand in (min bet), especially after a decent roll by someone and I make a few bucks (even if still down)

Occasionally I'll place the dealers on the pass, but if that sevens out, I feel bad, so I still then toss in a hand in toke

If I'm toking a Red chip or bigger I ask if they want to drop it or bet it. It runs about 50-50 and if it gets bet it usually goes on the Line.

I'll add odds to someone else's Dealers Line Bet. I don't bet the Line for them but I will "Place the Point" in $5 increments.

Dollar bets I like to make:
2 Way Hard Way Parlays make up most of my tipping style. Usually the "Play" number opposite the Point.
2 Way HOP on the Hard 10. Don't know why but we've won this a few times.
2 Way Crap Check on my Come Out roll.
Dealer Yo if I have a World Bet.

Unfortunately comps at the MSS crap table are hard to come by. I asked a few years ago, the (female) pit boss looked at my bet and my play and laughed and said that I needed to have $25 on the table at any given time for a 3 hour period. 3 hours! I would rather just play my normal red chip bets and buy my own $20 buffet.

My last trip in January I got on a hot table and had over $25 on the table since I was making out. After about 45 minutes the shooter crapped out (and I was up a few hundred) but I asked the pit boss for a comp and got the MSS seafood buffet. Good for them for being so tight.

As for tokes, if a shooter is hitting the hards I would play a 2 way something. either that or I would make a dealer pass line bet next to my pass line bet. Always good to have the dealers on your side and they thank you for the bets. I agree with the other bettor, best to tell the dealers that you are betting for them when you make the bet.

Sounds like At-Rat...and I agree, lol...the absolute LAST time I shot dice there, my wife went on a HEATER and I won like $400 (I bet lightly), so after her roll I proceeded to cash out and asked for a comp and the pitboss (Josh) said NO, and I said "Will my $400 win show up as a deduction from your check?" :Þ:wave:

On a good roll I'll tell the stick man I'm going to make a $25 bet for the boys and ask him or her where they want it.
