What's the fare ? $25 .. so how much would you or do you generally tip the driver ?

If you tell him the way to go, no tunnel, paradise to sahara to lv blvd, you can get there for 25 maybe $30 tops, the tip is up to you, give him what you feel is reasonable based on that fare and his behavior/demeanor.

If he rips you off it's gonna be $35+, tell him the way to go and if he doesn't take it he gets nothing at all, if he makes an excuse about traffic tell him "that's ok lets see the traffic ", or better yet just look him in the eye and say "go the way I told you"

I wouldn't just say if the fare hits $35 its a rip off: for such a distance being traveled if there is a bit of traffic and they get stopped by a few lights along the way it won't be that hard for the fare to reach $35 even without the tunnel.

    15-20%, depending on your experience.

As far as what the fare might be, check the diagram on the wall just between baggage claim and the taxi stand.

An alternative is the WAX bus from the airport. $2, or $1 if you are over 60. Probably as fast as a cab because it only makes 3 stops. It would drop you off half block away from the Fremont.

Scheduling is the issue since it only leaves the airport about once an hour. We will be using next month to get to the Suncoast.

I'm well over 60, in fact that's the reason I'm going, my 69th birthday on July 9th..
To ride the WAX bus don't you need a card or something ??
I travel light so that's no problem. And in all the years I've been going I enjoy the busses..

We've taken it around 6 times now and we just walk in and show our WI driver's license and put in the buck. Never been questioned. I know some have posted you need a RTC ID, but we never have had one. And honestly what is the worst that can happen, you pay $2 instead of $1 if the driver stops you.
EDIT, you don't need a special card to ride the WAX.

I have the id but never show it. Have ridden to Suncoast and downtown numerous times. Just hop on and put my $1.00 in the slot. Most times the driver has helped me with my luggage and I have had to twist their arm to take a tip.

No card needed to ride the WAX--just get on, enter the fare into the box. Normally $2, but if you show an RTC Reduced ID OR a Medicare card, it is $1.

From the baggage claim where do you find the WAX bus ?
I'm sure there's a special place or spot to catch it ..
And is there a schedule showing the times and routes ?
    Thanks

Wax bus is in the "basement". Make sure you are getting on the wax or will have culture shock like we did last year!! We thought we were late and rushed, ended up on the wrong bus. My husband hated to ride a bus before - now it's 3 times worse. Lol. We managed to make it downtown without any problems, other than dragging luggage about 8 blocks. We caught the wax back to the airport to get our rental the next day and it was a whole different world. Even the driver was pleasant.

You must have got on the 108 or 109 and observed all the colorful characters board and depart as you approach downtown? I took the 108 last time(deliberately so i didn't have to wait), it was quite entertaining.
