I'm currently booked at Luxor over Memorial Day weekend in a pyramid room. I know they have been updating the hallways but does anyone know if the pyramid rooms have been remodeled recently? If not, I'm thinking about changed to a tower room.

Not sure if they were remodeled but our Pyramid room was fine last September. No visible maintenance issues or wear. Mattress was a bit soft for me.

Not yet. We much prefer the tower rooms. Well worth the extra money IMO.

    ^ absolutely

One time was enough for us in the Pyramid ........... never again unless I hear many a positive report after a remodel.

I keep hearing about terrible rooms at Luxor, I must have gotten the model room. What were the problems you faced?

I would switch to a tower room. I haven't stayed there in years but I do remember constantly banging my head when I went over to look out the window.

You would think I would learn but I didn't. :nono:

Noise from club a couple of levels below us - room actually thumped, outdated, leaky plumbing in bathroom which flooded, -- the final straw was the poor AC which left the room sultry and this was a night, that prompted a complaint and a move to a tower room. Took them 2 hours but they finally placed us in a room.

Even the door to the room looked liked it had been crow barred or kicked in at one point. There was damage all around the frame of the door.

--- there was a thread of the worst room you ever had in Vegas ... this was it for us.

We don't take chances with poor rooms while on vacation anymore its worth the extra to be comfortable. Wife loves the Aria, I'm fine at an upgraded Monte Carlo ........ we usually try to split our stay between the 2.

I stayed in the Pyramid in January (mom likes the shorter walk) and the rooms have been "refreshed". New paint, carpet and overall not such a tired appearance that they did have. We had rooms near the Pyramid Cafe and I didn't notice any noise from the club or casino at all. My preference is to stay in the tower rooms as they are spacious and the bathrooms are better laid out with option of a tub.

Guess we were just lucky for our stay. Bathroom looked new with both tub and shower. No flaws in furniture walls carpet etc. Room was 3rd floor I think south side looking over a side street toward Mandalay. There was no WiFi but I was prepared with a TPLink travel router ($30 or so from my local Staples). Set up our own protected WiFi hub in room.

I like the Monte Carlo, but logistically for the other people going with us, Luxor makes the most sense. Last Memorial Day I had the same question...and part of me wanted to stay in a pyramid room just for the nostalgia factor. But, when we checked in, we were given a tower room. I imagine what happens is they overbook the pyramid rooms (for people that are booking those to save a few bucks) and just slide people into the tower rooms.

I stayed at the Luxor at the beginning of this month.

It was during ConExpo so room rates around time were high. Circus Circus, Riviera, The Quad and Hooters were all hovering around $100/night on a Tuesday.

I booked through Travelocity's mobile app. It was a "mystery hotel" but it's absolutely no mystery which hotel you'll get since they give some very obvious clues. I paid $39/night + resort fee.

My only other stay at the Luxor was 10+ years ago. But I think I got the same type of room both times. When I arrived earlier this month at Luxor, they upgraded me to a ~800 sq ft pyramid suite. The room was large and clean.

I did not use the jetted (I think?) tub in the corner of the room. There was a piece of masking tape on the tub that read 'PATCH LEAKING! GATE VALE'S OFF!'. I wasn't quite sure what it meant.

No complaints from me. I thought the room was a good value for the price I paid, especially during a peak time.

Stayed in the pyramid once, not long after they first opened. Kind of cool. One time. Stayed there a couple of times since and always in the tower, better rooms.
