I really want to stay south strip but I will have my Mom with me and she is turning 70 so something about staying at the Mirage end seems more fitting for her.

I know the Mirage is a nice hotel, but they are connected literally by the tram so is it worth the extra $100 for the time we're there?

I'm taking her as a surprise, I'm really on the fence about what to book. TI includes Mystere tickets which I assume are to compensate for the construction going on there?

I'm not sure she'll be comfortable in the pool if it's really crowded (read Mirage is crowded)?

In my opinion, Mirage is considerably nicer and would be a hundred bucks well spent. TI was looking pretty shabby to me when I walked through it last summer.

Night and day. For $100 it's a no brainer. Yes, Mirage pool will be crowded, get there and wait in line before it opens to find two chairs out of the crazy packed front part or wait till after lunch, when people start leaving. Ti is super small, and from what I can see from pics they have been posting, they are promoting it as a party pool, so I'm betting since it's so small it's going to be very crowded also.

I found that the casino in TI was too dark. I would imagine a person who is older may not like that.

Mirage by a landslide. TI is a bland dump these days.

While I am no huge fan of TI I think bland dump is a little harsh. I would assume you are comparing it to your many comped stays at Encore?

Getting back to the original question, for $100 I think Mirage in a landslide. They are shooting for a slightly younger more value oriented demographic at TI and I think any 70 year old would like the slightly more subdued atmosphere at The Mirage. The pool is also going to be a larger more relaxing gig than TI.

Mystere tickets can also be had for a steal at any Tickets2nite booth.

Thanks, that is what I was wondering what people were comparing TI to?
Of course compared to Encore, Bellagio etc it would be a dump.

Well dump might have been an exaggeration but I still think they are nowhere close. Mirage is still an authentic, iconic Vegas hotel while TI is just a repository these days.
