Any help appreciated! Normally, I get free rooms @ MB, M, Red Rock, Silverton, Etc.. Normal play is slots, $1500 a day (more or less) and craps, 2-4 hours @ min of $40 per roll (no odds) pressing when winning and a little BJ @ $10-25 per hand.
Question, I booked 2 nights @ Rush Tower for around $70 per night (tax, fees incl). I've stayed @ GN before but give most of my downtown play to Boyd casinos. I just never had any luck @ GN. If I concentrate all my play @ GN, would it be appropriate to seek out a host to see if they would comp the rooms? Not asking for food or anything else. I've never approached anyone on the backend for comps as I've been happy with free rooms.
Any Golden Nugget folks that might shed some light on this? Thanks in advance! good luck!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 nights in a Rush tower room at the Golden Nugget last July. This was his first time to Vegas and my second, with it being my first time playing/staying downtown. We are low limit players (.25 VP, $10 BJ, penny slots) and our combined bankroll for the trip was $3000. We spread our gambling around some between the strip and downtown, but probably played 75% at GN. Before checkout, we decided to talk to a host to see if maybe we could get a night or two comped. We weren't expecting much, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. After looking up our play, the man asked who our host was. When we stated we didn't have one as this was our first time to GN, he typed a few things into the computer, handed us his business card and told us our entire 5 night stay has been taken care of. Then he added to call him on our next trip to Vegas and he would be sure to "take care of us" again. Well, we are going out to Vegas this August for my 40th so my boyfriend called him to see what he could do for us. Again, he is comping our 4 night stay in the Rush Tower. So the moral of this story: either we REALLY SUCK at gambling OR the Golden Nugget is generous with their comps. So yes, definitely talk to a host, it can't hurt and you may be pleasantly surprised like we were. Good luck!

Its definitely worth checking in with a host prior to leaving to see what they can do, but obviously it does depend on your play.... when you say you have $1500 for slots, is that 1500 coin in?
I stayed at GN last September and booked it through a host. Never had a host assigned to me, I just picked one off the list on their website. He comped 1 night in a rush tower up front (which was going for around $90 a night at the time) based on my limited play in the past. I had enough play to cover both nights comped and covered around $60 in food and spa charges. I think he had my table play around $35 a hand for 4 hours. I also lost around $1500-1800 between slots and VP in the 2 days (definitely was a bad gambling trip).
To compare to my normal play, I usually stay at MGM and tend to accrue 35-50K tier credits for a 4 day trip and I would say my play at GN was similar to what I normally play at mlife.

What kinda coin in and loss did you have? I found it hard to earn comps at GN even playing 2 $ VP

My play went something like this: Buy in at BJ for 200, cash out around 600, lose it all at VP, repeat. No matter what VP or slot machine I touched, I couldn't win to save my life. If I were a SMART gambler, I would have just stayed at BJ, but I get bored easily and like all the bells and whistles of the machines.

My boyfriend did just remind me of a couple things though-- we stayed for 6 nights, not 5. However, they were at the carson tower rate of $50 per night. We used a Landry's card at check in and were given a free upgrade to the rush tower. Also I should note that the night before checkout, around 10pm, we went and talked to a host. He was an older gentleman who said he could comp us 2 nights but to stop back in the morning just incase we played more that night and increased our comps. Well we *maybe* played for 2 more hours, but nothing significant as I was tired and needed to get packed up for the flight. So the next morning before checkout, when we stopped back to speak to a host, it was a younger gentleman that we spoke to. I know our play those last 2 hours certainly could not have gained us 4 more nights comped, so either the older gentleman was very tight with the comps or the younger man over zealous? I don't know. In the end, it was a nice surprise considering we weren't expecting much of anything. I'm assuming our play must have warranted the comps though, considering we are again being comped for this August.

Also, if you don't already have a Landry's card, its definitely worth the one time $25 sign up. VIP check in, line passes, $25 food credit, and room upgrade (if available.)

    Good luck!

    Agreed.
Stayed there twice, dropped about $300 - $400/day (cash, not coin-in), and have never received any offers. I do get the corporate mailer with ten bucks off a room deal and that is it! IMO Golden Nugget is the stingiest with comps.

Hmm, that's weird. I get stuff from them on a weekly basis through snail mail and email for free rooms, slot tournies, black jack tournies etc. Did you talk to a host while you were there? Squeaky wheel gets the grease and all...

Just a few weeks ago, I saw the host prior to checkout, to see what he could do for me. It sounds like a have a similar bankroll to Lolli, and habits.

I didn't give them my DW's players card, who was still in the room, a mistake I guess. He checked my play on the computer, and told me a dollar figure he could work with. I was really surprised. I had about a third of my charges taken off. I did have a sizable bill remaining being in a gold rush club room, and food charges, so getting the whole thing comped would have been a miracle.

Next trip, I will be playing there more. We do pretty well on the slots actually, and know specific machines that have treated us well over the years. I never play BJ there , but should since the Golden Gate and D have become unbearable with the noise level. Too bad the VP mostly sucks, but might consider the Full Pay JOB in the high limit room.

As for recieving future offers, my Parents played at the GN over 4 days at Xmas. They didn't seem to hitting the GN hard, but certainly played more than I ever have. Their bankroll is smaller than mine. The get offers weekly via snail mail.

Bottom line, it doesn't hurt to ask at the host office before you check out. You might get surprised.

Thanks for the reply's! Yes penguin, coin in, usually minimum of $1500 but if winning up to $3-4K. maybe I should have called or emailed a host prior and they could match the offers I get. Oh well, maybe we'll charge a couple of meals and see what happens. I will try to return to this thread after our trip and update what we got. Our trip isn't until late April so it will be a while.
I'll try to be as accurate as possible with our play (wife plays on my card) and report back. Thanks again, good luck!

I stay there all the time and its my preferred spot downtown. Here is what I found from my trips.. It takes a few trips before they start sending decent up front offers and I am not sure why they are stingy in this regard.

The best way to go is visit the host office prior to checkout and I find them pretty generous comping prior to checkout. One thing though they are really stingy about comping off suites and the club rooms. The rush rooms are easy to get comped and they are fairly new.
