We are bringing our kids to Vegas for some R&R and I would hate for them to see something that they shouldn't be seeing.

Someone needs to explain; what is happening in Vegas that we don't know about or see every time that we go?:confused2::confused2:

Many on this board, myself included, hate seeing kids in casinos late at night/early AM when they should be in bed.

The parents look irresponsible and it annoys people. Kids in Vegas doesn't bother me, in general.

The Strip and Downtown are basically massive indoor/outdoor party bars with even fewer restrictions on dress and behavior let alone no door guy checking IDs and keeping out bums. I would not generally take my kids to a bar let alone one like Vegas.

That's my personal opinion only. It's a free country and you should raise your kids how you see fit.

Almost everything happening on the Strip is something kids shouldn't see.

Yeah I don't think its really hate towards kids, but more towards the parents with kids...

Not saying this is you or how you'll be acting, but a lot of parents seem to treat their Vegas vacation with kids like they would their Vegas vacation without kids: they are still out and about all day and all night drinking and gambling, just having their kids in tow.

So you will see at some casinos kids that are just dumped off to the side or sitting in chairs in the lobby for hours and hours while the parents are gambling and/or drinking, or being dragged along The Strip at 2AM, etc.

In all I think its just that a lot of people enjoy how they do Las Vegas and picture everybody else doing Las Vegas the same way as them (up all day and up all night, lots of drinking and gambling and partying on) so when they see somebody with kids they just assume thats how that person is and so the kids are either going to be party poopers or the parents are going to have to neglect them.

But reality is that not all parents are bad and that there is actually a lot of stuff for kids to see and do in Las Vegas... so personally I don't really care myself unless somebody is going to sit their kid down next to me at a slot machine or something.

In my opinion, and this is just my opinion but... bringing kids, younger than middle teens anyway, is immoral as a parent to expose them to excesses of booze, language, and carousing in general. You really want to take their innocence away? Better off taking them to Disney or Six flags where they can fit in as kids. In Vegas they are outcasts and will prevent you from having adult fun. If you are not going for the adult fun, then why Vegas at all?

Now if they are mid teens or older, then LV is probably no worse than their exposure from TV and video gaming.

The pictures or videos i have seen with kids on fremont street dancing with the djs who dress like strippers at midnight/1am annoy me. Kids should be in bed at that time and not watching a partial strip show outside.

Most of the stuff that happens would be not something most kids should see. My son was not sheltered but to take him for an R & R vacation vegas would be the very last place i thought of. There are MANY more suitable places for children.

There is just so much adult craziness going on that I don't think I would want my kids seeing on that scale - drinking, smoking, swearing, gambling not to mention hookers, slappers and all those escort slap cards laying on the ground and the billboards rolling down the strip with pictures of scantily clad women. I have seen drunk people crying, screaming, falling down, sleeping on the sidewalk & puking. Its all great fun for people like me. I just don't get how this could be a good vacation with kids in tow. I don't hate kids at all!! I would just prefer you don't bring them to my adult version of Disneyland.

My son is 19, my ex and I took him on many great vacations over the years. But not to Vegas. We did that ourselves. So many other great places for kids to see in this country. In 2016 on his 21st I'll be taking him to Vegas.

To each their own, I don't really care. It DOES bother me to see little ones on the strip at 1 a.m. It would bother me seeing kids out ANYWHERE at that time of night.

Bringing small kids to Vegas cannot be fun for the child. I know I would be bored out of my mind if I was a child in Vegas - what can you possibly do, besides go to the pool and see a couple of attractions like the Shark Reef and Dolphin Habitat? Except for going to the restaurants and rooms, children can't lounge around the casino floor while their parents gamble. If the child is older, seeing things like Hoover Dam and The Grand Canyon would be worthwhile trips, but I don't think that a trip strictly to hang out in casinos is for a child.

I have seen parents at midnight on the Strip pushing exhausted toddlers in their strollers - to me that is plain selfish. I think everyone is entitled to have a good time, but it is unfair to a child to bring them to a place that is not really a destination that is designed for young children like Paradise Island in The Bahamas or the Disney Theme parks etc.

I love kids. But when I am in Vegas and I go out to dine in a nice restaurant, I have to be honest - I do not want to hear a small child screaming (with the parents often not even trying to calm the child down) while I am trying to enjoy my meal. The reason I go there is because it is primarily an adult destination, and that is the vacation experience I expect to enjoy.

I don't mind parents bringing kids to Vegas as long as they don't mind me doing what I do while in "Vegas Mode". I am not there to set any sort of good example, or be a role model. If your kid sees it, sorry pal.

It does bug me a little to see a really young (2 or 3 years old) kid passed out in a stroller, being pushed around by mom (who is wearing the big purple yard of liquor around her neck) after midnight on the strip.

I always wondered how many interesting conversations take place after little johnny sees his first discarded hooker trading card on the ground . . . "DADDY! Look what I found! What's this?"

My belief is that Vegas is the adult version of Disney World so why bring kids to an adult playground? Personally I never will but I don't judge others as I do not know the situation...then again I will judge if you're dragging your child around after midnight on Fremont or the strip.

I love kids but I just don't think it's an appropriate vacation for them. There's lots to do in that area (national parks, etc) that would be a great experience for them. I just don't get it when I see people schlepping up and down the strip with kids in tow. It has to be boring for them and certainly not the best atmosphere. I can't imagine parents enjoying a Las Vegas vacation when they bring children either.

I recently retired from Walt Disney World. That's the place to take kids on vacation! Or the beach or camping or museums, etc.

I've never seen kids out late at night or sitting at the edge of the casino while their parents gamble. What I mostly see are kids running around the Strip while clickers are handing out ads for escorts, these ads are all over the ground for anyone to see, a van passes by advertising women to your room, a "drunk" Mickey Mouse is sitting against the edge of the sidewalk posing for pictures, "showgirls" wearing nothing but pasties and a g-string posing for pictures downtown, plus the drunks, the ******bags, the hook-ups, etc. Lots of things for kids to see and question.

Those are valid points. None of which apply to my situation.

We don't drink. So clubbing is out of the question.

We don't go down to the strip late at night or Freemont.

We don't plan on gambling into the wee hours.

    We don't casino hop.

Some sightseeing, some food tasting and plenty of sun. They hit the beds early, so maybe some TV.

I guess we are good to go.

The only time kids bother me is when they sit at third base. Those little brats never know what they’re doing and always screw it up for the entire table!
