I'm gathering a list of Las Vegas restaurants with a story. What that means, exactly, is up for interpretation at this point, but I'm thinking of places such as Piero's (a favorite haunt of the Rat Pack and mobsters) and Peppermill (the only free-standing restaurant on the Strip and backdrop for a number of movies).

I imagine there may be a few in the downtown area on Fremont Street, but I'm open for on-Strip, off-Strip or elsewhere around town. What else would you add to this list and why?

I wrote my undergraduate thesis on the Picasso restaurant (long before I could ever hope to afford to eat there), and it's a pretty fascinating place. But I'm not sure if that's the sort of "story" you're talking about here.

Not sure if it has a story, but I am amazed that Smith and Wollensky's on the Strip is surviving with the dozens of steakhouses in hotels now.
