As I stated in my "intro" one of Dad and my favorite Vegas ways to pass the time is by playing VP at nice bartop (yes, yes we know the pay tables are terrible)...we kibitz with the bartenders and other patrons, watch the game on the TVs, play a bit and try to get our drink on (steady buzz, not drunk...we are connoisseurs, of course!)...of course we try to play at spots where the quality of the booze is a bit better, sometimes we win, many times we break even (including drink cost)...

we enjoy the Aria Skybox Bar, at least up until last summer, still had 25c machines, and unfortunately Bellagio did away with all their quarters at the Baccarat Bar...still we will occasionally drop in on the $1 machines there. Bellagio years ago had a great small bar near where they now have a club in the middle of the casino, we used to get a great Martini there with top notch gin..all gone for 5 years or so

We have heard tell of a decent bar at Cosmo, any one speak to it?

where are your favorite places to play VP and drink? either strip or downtown...

The Boar's Head bar at Main Street Station is hard to beat. Great idds on the VP and great brews, too.

It's been a few years but did enjoy playing .25 VP at the Champagne-themed bar at the Palazzo.Nice bartenders and patrons to chat with, sure looked like they comped higher end liquor as well. Do not remember any TV's however. No mention of lounges on the website,so maybe someone here can confirm it is still the same..

Book and stage and Bond in the Cosmo are great places to play .25c VP with high end beer and liquor.

No secret I'm a fan of MSS, but the sports-only policy on the TVs pisses me off. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big sports fan, but during the day when there is nothing on and since they have nothing but basic cable, I'd like to see some News while on vacation, just to see what is going on in the world. That is forbidden!:poke:

But yea, 9/6 JOB is good. Their DDB is 9/5 but at the Cal across the street it's 9/6.

Always enjoy the original VP bar at Palms (not the new one back by the Sportsbook). Kim's been daytime bartender there quite awhile now. Personable gal.

The long bar (not the lounges) at the MGM Grand has always been good to me.

The Bellagio bar that disappeared to make way for Hyde was lucky, too, with top-shelf drinks.

    Hey Now!

Alligator Bar at Orleans. 8/5 BP .25- 1.00. Hank Bonefish will hook you up with top shelf, and regale ya with magic! And put whatever ya want on the tube...

Typical strip stuff I thought. I think they offer 8/5 DDB (96.79%) at least from what I read here. The Bond Bar was too busy to sit down at when I was there last trip. Same goes for Book and Stage bar (~1am Presidents' Day). So I lucked out and found a satisfactory CW next to the 98.91% Deuces penny 100-play instead. If anyone else knows of the best game they actually offer at those bars, I'd be curious. Anything better than 6/5 Bonus (96.87%)?

I don't mind playing $1, and so I've always been a really big fan of Bar Moderno at Aria. Never as crowded as Book & Stage, but they make great, high end drinks, and the bartenders remember me by name even though I'm only there every few months. Pay tables not as bad as they could be, either, I could swear I remember the JOB being 8/5 (which is worth it for comped Stoli Elit).

EDIT: I left out way too many words the first time around. My brain is well and truly fried.

All awesome info. We likely will be planning some dollars this trip, just hoping we can make them last!! Never played at Bar moderno, but have been past it several times.

We often play early to late afternoon, so hopefully these places won't be too crowded then. Would like to try book and stage at least once.

The Cosmo bars were great for a while after the place opened. Not near as good for the player, now, but they still have some quarter machines with odds about as bad as what you will find at a CET property. Usually DB is the best of the bad choices. But booze and service are great. It normally isn't crowded late afternoon.

P.S. No way the JOB bartop VP at Aria is 8/5 anymore.

7/5 if memory serves from last July...

8/5 $1 at the Baccarat Bar @ Bellagio in Februrary 2013..I snapped a pic of a near miss Straight flush (held 9/10/Q of hearts and drew the A/K of Hearts..looked like a near miss royal, but truly was not, always felt I should have played only the Q/10 and maybe I would have drawn the J???--never know) pay table was 250/50/25/8/5/4/3/2/1

but I was playing 25c Deuces mainly (@ Aria Skybox) in July 13, I snapped a pick of my first Royal with Deuces...so the evidence shows for that game...

Have a feeling you mean 25/16/13/4/3/2 there. 96.77%, typical bartop crap. Better than cet and mirage tho, they're 25/15/10/4/3/2, a shameful 94.82%.

Agree with many posters (especially Joe). Don't forget the 3rd VP bar (Queue Bar) at Cosmo (it's between Bond and Book & Stage). Also:

Sportsbar at Aria (still $0.25 8/5 DDB when I stayed there in December)
Centrifuge Bar at MGM (especially when all that Hakkasan eyecandy is nearby)
    Center Bar at NYNY
Boar's Bar at Main Street Station
King/Palace/Chicago Brewery Company Bars at Four Queens
    Vue Bar at The D
