What would you choose if you could go to either NYNY or MGM using LPs for comp nights. I can either go to NYNY from Monday to Saturday*, or go to MGM from Monday to Friday. Which one is a better deal for the comp nights? I've never stayed at either hotel, so I'm not aware of distance to and from the room to casino issues, and I'm also not aware of any convenience issues at either place. The more info the better at making our decision!
I really like the NYNY casino and atmosphere but the rooms are small and the internet is like dial up. MGM provides a much better room. We stayed at both in FEB and did the respective room upgrades 10 at MGM .... grand king 5 at NYNY ..... strip view Both were waived at checkout. I have read on here about some really bad rooms at the MGM so mileage may vary but the above was my experience.
we combined both - one night at MGM and 2 at NYNY. We've stayed at both before and they are only a skywalk away from each other.
I would say do both, but as they are across the street from each other it doesn't accomplish much. I vote New York New York. And if you're feeling adventurous, head north or south and split up your trip between two hotels. I think Mirage has rooms for a surprisingly low number of points.
I would choose NYNY. Rooms are a toss up, I just like the casino vibe and cheaper food options at NYNY.
Having stayed at both, I'd stay at MGM. Nicer rooms, nicer property in general. If you want to eat/gamble at NYNY, there is a walkway connecting the 2...two minute walk.
I enjoy the casino and atmosphere in NY NY more but the rooms at MGM are nicer. Like cyclone said it is a 2 minute walk.
MGM is the nicer casino/hotel, but I feel like NYNY is the better value when using MyVegas rooms. The MGM MyVegas rooms are tiny and expensive, LP-wise.
The MGM room is for the Petite King (aka West Wing Room) and NYNY is for the Park Avenue room, which gets way better reviews. The only thing MGM's room has going for it is that it is just steps away from the strip, but it is apparently very dark and small. I would go for NYNY based on the room alone, but I'll be staying at both for my upcoming trip. But who cares if it's free!?
Yea, but MGM you are getting the super tiny, and far West Wing room... sure you can probably end up upgrading, but I wouldn't risk it. Also the NYNY points are much cheaper aren't they?
Ur not going to be in the room too much ... Mgm has better pool And more options ... I've stayed in both, mgm will always win out ...
For the basic rooms it looks like NY wins out from reviews I have read. We had this same decision and chose NY based on the cheaper cost plus we liked the casino and property more when we went last year. MGM has an awesome pool but we decided we wouldn't be doing the pool thing enough to warrant choosing MGM for that reason alone.
Has anyone had luck upgrading their MGM rooms? We decided on MGM over NYNY but now that I know you get the West Wing Rooms I am a bit worried. I do partake in the $20 trick every trip I go and have been successful every time in some sort of upgrade that would've cost us more ... but I also hear the $20 trick is hard to come by at MGM Grand. I would be happy with the next room up, which I believe is the Grand King. Anyone with experience?
