Still trying to decide which hotel to book. My wife is wanting a tower spa suite at MGM. I am a little reluctant because I like a good view from the room. Sitting drinking a night cap or whatever. The pictures and vidoes I have seen all have fairly obstructed views, ie a roof or a parking lot. Even the " city view " suite seems the same. Also, the shape of the MGM seems to be a factor. Has anyone here stayed in either of those suites ? How was your view ? What floor were you on ? I've only stayed at the Luxor before but the view was ok. I know its trivial to some but Vegas is such a cool city, especially from elevation. Thank you.
I haven't but I know what you mean, my parents had an executive and the view was of the roof, also all the youtube videos I've seen, seem to be the same way. I'm guessing they are on the lower floors? Also the hotel might only have a dozen rooms, there just isn't that many that could have that specific view. I would call and ask. If you want a view, just get the premier view room maybe? But that won't help your wife with a spa. http://www.vegastripping.com/news/blog/5247/hakkasan-hotel-coming-to-mgm-grand/ Here's a good layout of what the hotel looks like. The Grand Tower is where all the new rooms are. The West Wing is all the old rooms. So yea, maybe just not that many rooms with a view. Can you stay elsewhere? You can get amazing views at many other places if that's important to you.
Sure I'm open to other places. Can't do a Venetian or Cosmo type this trip. Too expensive. I leaned toward MGM because of my wife and it seemed to have good reviews relatively speaking. Im curious about the Mirage as well. Thank you heather. All suggestions are appreciated !
Mirage is similar in quality, and they definitely have view rooms there. I don't think they have a spa suite. They kinda have basic rooms, and huge suites. Same for Paris, they have some amazing view there, but I don't think you can get a spa. Mandalay Bay has spa suites as well. That's not a bad view. Even if you don't get a strip view there, they still have some nice views. The pool view is nice. How about Vdara? They definitely have some killer views and nice bathtubs. They often have good rates there as well. I mean, it'll be less than Venetian or Cosmo that's for sure. Or a favorite of mine (as my families) is Trump. Every room has a jacuzzi tub. The prices there are ALWAYS killer, and the rooms are large, and the property is small, so easy in and out. Now the last two don't have a casino, but I haven't found it too inconvenient to get to one. (Vdara is literally steps away from Aria)
Good suggestions heather. I also saw in another thread that someone had a spa suite (MGM) that had its own private entrance in north tower. If your on the strip side wouldn't that at least give you a view of Excalibur and NYNY ?
I had a Celebrity Spa Suite a few years back...that is what they use to call the Tower Spa Suite....we were on the 23rd floor with a view of NYNY and the Tropicana Intersection...probably the best view IMO....I was in a Queen Executive this past halloween...wall view as others have stated. I forgot what floor but it was low.
That sounds pretty cool. I guess I was under the impression that those suites were 8 or 9 th floor. Good to know. Thanks Tammy58. I guess I should just call the MGM and ask. Not ruling out anything yet. Ive liked a lot of the other hotels but sometimes the food options seem limited.
I stayed in a Tower Spa Suite in January. MGM's footprint is like a + sign, with the wings extending north, east, south, and west. My room was in the east wing, on the left side, the 23rd floor. It's at the end of the wing, but the view of the strip is still mostly blocked by the north wing. The view didn't suck, but it wasn't great either. The best view in a Tower Spa Suite would be in the North wing, on the left side of the hall (probably an odd-numbered room). I researched the MGM floor plan about a month ago and did the conversions shown below. Room77.com still has the old names, and I managed to snag an old MGM brochure that had the old names, SF, and floorplans. Here's the conversions. When they remodeled, they de-movie-themed the names. Old Name/New Name Bungalow King and Queen Suites = Executive King and Queen Suites, 675sf. Located as the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rooms from the elevator lobby in the wings that run north, east, and south. Celebrity Spa Suite = Tower Spa Suite, 694sf, spa tub. Located as the next-to-last rooms in the north, east, and south wings Hollywood Suite = Tower One Bedroom Suite, 775sf, at the end of the halls floors 12 and below Premiere Suite = City View Suite, 950sf, but no door between the living room and bedroom, these are located on the inside corners where the 4 wings meet (just off the elevator lobby), but only in the northeast corner. Contrary to the name, they do not face the strip. There is a window in the bedroom, but not the living room. Floors 19 and above Glamour Suite = Penthouse City View Suite, 1,250 sf, these are also located on the inside corners where the wings meet, just off the elevator lobby, but they face across the strip - one faces southwest (towards Excalibur, Luxor, MB) and one faces northwest (towards NYNY, City Center, etc.). There is only one of these suites on floors 17 -24, and two on floors 25 - 28. I had one of these reserved for a recent visit and got downgraded at check in (on a Monday!), which was quite disappointing. Marquee Suite = Skyline Marquee Suite, at the ends of the halls floors 13 and above Terrace Suite = Skyline Terrace Suite
Your in Vegas. Do you spend enough time in the room to enjoy the suite? I never do. Pick one and enjoy. You will have fun.
I would also know if there is a executive queen with a view? If there is I wouldn't mind doing the $20 trick to get one
