When going to Vegas the last few years, I've found that I have an easier time getting comped (I'm CET Platinum) if I go the weekend just before Memorial Day or the one right after Labor Day. My flight tends to be cheaper, I still get the same weather, and I like that while Vegas is reasonably crowded, it's not as overwhelming as the actual holiday weekends themselves. I find the city to be more maneuverable, lines shorter at restaurants and bars, it's easier to get a seat at the pool, etc.

Does anyone else do this? Or do you have another specific time frame when you go to Vegas, outside of the obvious (holiday weekends, Super Bowl, etc.?)

Interested to hear what other people's rationales are.

Avoiding major holidays is always a good idea. I like April, May, September, October for the perfect (usually) weather. Last year late October it was 80-83 every day, 60's at night. I've been there many times in the heat of summer. Dry or not 100+ is HOT :)

I see you plan your trips WAY in advance :)

Last trip was Super Bowl weekend, next trip is Memorial Day weekend. 3rd trip will probably be Labor Day weekend. Getting days off from work is hard to come by for me lately, so I usually go with all the masses lol

But I usually plan my trips around a big event or a must see concert which is usually on busy weekends.

I've been there during both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends the past two years, and it was NOT noticably busier to me at all.

I typically go when I can piggyback off of a paid holiday from work so I can use as little PTO as possible.

We're over on Memorial Weekend- not really my choice, but it fits in with childcare back home in the UK..

Our favorite near-holiday time to visit Las Vegas has become the first or second weekends after New Years Day.

    Why?

    NFL Playoff football.

The crowds are gone, the rates are lower, its easy to get around town.

And there are four NFL playoff games on every T.V. in every sports book, bar, and casino floor in town.

And this past Jan 3-7 wild card weekend, we even got the college football national championship game as well!

IMHO, playoff weekends are even better than the Super Bowl.

Honestly. Which did you enjoy watching more? The Colts coming back from an 18 point deficeit to beat the Chiefs, the competitive one point victory of the Saints over the Eales on the same day, or the 43-8 blowout of the Super Bowl?

    Nuff said?

I'm going this year over Memorial Day weekend, tied it in with a trip to go see a friends mother whose health is failing. Really looking forward to pretty much perfect weather and I know my next trip will be a solo trip in January, I'm going to time this with the playoffs, that'll be a ton of fun.

I tend to agree with you Bazzito52, the best game of the playoffs is almost always better than the superbowl. Going to vegas for that timeframe is a great idea.

I ALWAYS do this. Last year, I went day after 4th of July ($39, Mandalay Bay), Week before Labor Day ($100 Trump (on a Saturday), Week before Xmas (Free Paris, $67 Trump), and Week before Valentines/Presidents day. ($56 MGM Grand).

It's like 1/3 as much!! Some holidays themselves are cheaper too Xmas and Easter are always a good deal, so if you don't celebrate it's a good time to go. I wouldn't say it's necessarily less busy though...

Another tip, if it's a short trip. Go Saturday to Monday or Tuesday.. Then you don't have the high Friday night rate. Airfare is cheaper, and if you drive, no traffic. At least this is my rule being from LA...

Most people I assume work with their work schedules. But for me, I'd rather use a day or two of PTO, then drive to Vegas in Holiday traffic and spend 3x as much on a hotel.

I've gone the week after Labor Day. Good pool weather. Opening Days of NFL. I enjoyed it.

I am going Labor Day weekend to help save work vacation days since its a holiday.
Also checked prices the week before and week after, but no difference.
    This was with Southwest.

We did the weekend after labor day 2013... definitely a great time.
    -First week of football.
-Weather is great to hang by the pool 90's to low 100, but sucks to walk in.
-School just gets back in so don't see nearly as many little kids and limited college students( not that I mind college kids but its nice not having all the frat boys around).
    -flights are cheaper.

I actually like early - mid October a little more b/c you can actually walk around without heat exhaustion but its still warm enough to hang by the pool.
