So I wanted to share my strategy that I use when I play. Maybe it will help someone out or someone could give me some tips on how to make it better. I have not run odds or anything fancy on it. I just played around for a few weeks with a craps simulator to come up with it and it has done me pretty well. I start off with between $150 - $200 on a $5 table.

On the come-out roll I always play $5. When the point is established I place all the numbers and play $10 behind. Every time a place number is hit I will double it. I do this 3 times per number. Once a number has hit 3 times I will take it back down to 1 bet and repeat the process. If the point is rolled. I will take all the placed numbers back to 1 bet for the next established point. I don't really play anything else on the board, just this.

I'm not saying this is the best strategy ever or that I am the best craps player in the world. I just find it to be effective more times than not. However, if you start off losing, obviously it doesn't take many losses to be tapped out with the bankroll mentioned above.

A good strategy on a hot table. On normal or cold table these place bets triple presses would be cash whore.

I have tried similiar in WOO, but in real life would need bigger bankroll than $200 to hang around during some bad runs.

if any place number hits three times, I may variant and bring all numbers down to 1 digit, to protect against red.

This sounds like a good way to go bankrupt. Good for you if someone holds the dice for a half hour, otherwise you will be gone in ten minutes every time you walk up to the table.

The 'secret' to any method of playing this game, is get your money back out as soon as you can on each shooter. As long as you can keep re-investing that money, you can keep playing, and wait for that BIG roll.

I just got back from the local joint again today, and it was my 8th straight winning run. Nothing huge, but wins are wins. I only played for 3 and a half hours today, and it was the shortest trip of all of them. Most are 12 hour runs. I put $350 in my pocket today.

Keeping in mind that any system or betting strategy will work under the condition of a "Hot Roll"

Many players on here will tell you you're risking way too much out there from the start giving the casino plenty of chances to get their money back plus yours.

A good compliment to your method would be to watch the table for a round or two and find out what primary numbers are rolled by each of the shooters.

For example: Bob69.5 (rolls many 6,9 & 5's) Instead of starting with 54 across on all the numbers, just bet 32 on "Bobs" numbers and make it grow.

Too many PSO shooters will wipe you out fast.

I too have tried simulators (wiz of odds) and many variants trying to minimize losses until the hot roll comes (but only recognize IT when it has passed me by). Now I am concentrating on 18 $ 6&8 after the come out roll regardless of the number made. If I get a 6 or 8 I take it down to 12 $ each.....leaving me down 3 $. If 6 or 8 hit again I place the 5&9 for 5 $ each which has me sitting with a profit of 1 $ overall.

On the table with the point made and numbers other than 6&8 rolled and 7 out, it is difficult to lose the 36 $ initial place bets. But it you hit 6 or 8 twice, you then are able to start taking in the winners until the 7 pops up. My question is when to press....as again you must make enough to ride the storm of the 36 $ loss on point established, 7 out.

So far I have lasted a fair amount of time on wiz with 400 $ buy in but win / lose 50% of the bankroll about even. Plan to try it out in Tahoe while skiing next week with real dice.

Huge waste of time. The numbers someone rolled a half hour ago mean nothing the next time he shoots.

Passline with Come Bet + odds better

Just my two cents worth. I think you would do better making a Passline bet followed by a Come bet. If shooter has a point seven out roll you break even. Once you have a Come and Passline bet on a number take single odds on both. When one hits take the profit from the odds bet and rack it as a win. Then take the passline or come bet even money win and add it to your odds on the next number. This way your getting the house edge down, (making your bankroll fluctaute less ), and increasing your bets using the house's money to profit from a good roll. Of course playing at a casino offering good odds options, (5x or more), is a must playing this way.

It does if he is consistently throwing the dice from a certain dice set, with consistent arc, distance and axis bounce. NOT!

There are people out there that believe people can shoot non-randomly, vic. I've yet to see solid statistical proof of it though.

Betting systems mostly just adjust your "variance", which determines how much you swing in any particular gaming session.

Yes there are supposed dice setters out there. But the "genius" said to just watch what numbers each player rolled and then bet on them the next time should they have had several of the same numbers during their roll. If someone rolls a bunch of 5's one time I certainly am not going to bet on 5 because of that.

    Re: The OP's method

Sam Grafstein, the writer of the finest book ever published on craps puts it this way:

"Should this be your choice of play, then just hope that if or when your QUALIFIED SHOOTER rolls the dice 8 times, that he will roll the SAME NUMBER all 8 times. That's about how much chance you have beating this 8 NUMBER PLAY.

I may be exaggerating slightly, but I assure you, very slightly. I won't say I haven't seen some big scores made on the play, I have however, many more times seen BRICK WALL BILLIES.* (*Losers.)"

If you're determined to be an "across the board" bettor, then you won't find better advice than in Sam's monumental volume "The Dice Doctor."

    http://gamblersbookclub.com/THE-DICE-DOCTOR-1999.html

Gambler's Book Club has this priced at $9.99 today (03/05/14). $9.99!!

This book has the very best method of winning money at ANY types of bets that the player could possibly come up with.

Try Sam's ACROSS THE BOARD PLAY (4-5-6-8-9-10) PLAY and see if it isn't even more profitable than pressing three times and dragging.

I've made the offer on this board before that, if you buy The Dice Doctor, read it, seriously use Sam's methods as written, and they don't improve your play, then send me a PM and I will personally refund your money.

Give this a shot and see if it doesn't help.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts. This strategy just seems like the worst of all worlds. There are only two instances where I would see this being a very successful strategy. The "average to above average roll" where the shooter hits a couple of points and rolls 4-6 place numbers before the points. The only other time this is profitable is when you get the shooter that rolls numbers for 15-20 rolls but doesn't hit the point.

In the other scenarios, like the point, seven out, you get crushed. And when that monster roll comes along, you're not going to make nearly what you would if you kept pressing your place bets rather than taking them down.

If it works for you, then by all means, but IMO you're putting a lot at risk and at the same time minimizing your upside. Personally I play PL + odds and at least the 6/8 maybe inside/across depending on how the table is going. After a place bet hits, I press a unit every time. Let's me get my money back before pressing, and gives me unlimited upside on a monster.

Your strategy sort of reminds me of the iron cross. It's a slow grind for smaller profits, but you're exposed big on the front end, and limiting your opportunity on a hot roll.

You put $5 on the line.

When the point is set, you spread $30 across the numbers and $10 in odds on the passline.

    That's $45 of your $150 to 200 bankroll

And you are saying this works a lot? You must be very lucky to be dodging the seven and hitting a lot of 4s and 10s, otherwise you're putting an awful lot of your winnings back on the table until the 3rd time they hit.

I should have been more clear. In the 10 -12 times I've played live, yes I have won more than I lost. It might be more luck given the small frame but it seemed to me like it was a working strategy as I had gotten good results on the simulator. I do appreciate the feedback.

I am amazed at people with sure fire ways to win at gambling. If the method was so fool proof, the author would not be an author - they would be in a casino one day a year and spend the rest of the time on a beach somewhere.

The only person guaranteed to make money on this kind of a book is the author.

Did I say "sure fire"? Certainly not!

Did Sam Grafstein claim to have a fool proof method to make money at the craps table? NO!

To be honest, Sam did spend every day in the casino until his death twenty years ago, so I imagine that being on the beach isn't really a priority for him any more. And he also operated floating and cash crap games in various places dating from the 1930's. During the final decades of his life, he'd be in Atlantic City in the summer and Las Vegas in the winter. As I recall, the Sports Form and the Las Vegas Review Journal ran obituaries for him after his death in there in 1993, as did the newspaper in his native Toronto. I mention this only to make a point that he was a well known player and writer and admired and respected among gambling professionals.

Now, on to what Sam really says:

He says unequivically in "The Dice Doctor", and I'll quote him directly (including the all caps, a trademark of his writing style):

"THERE NEVER HAS BEEN...THERE ISN'T NOW...THERE NEVER WILL BE...A SYSTEM THAT CAN OVERCOME THE HOUSE EDGE AGAINST THE CRAPSHOOTER." - p. 44, 1990 edition

I believe my money-back offer is that anyone who uses Sam's methods will (now I'm quoting myself) improve their play.

I think you'd appreciate his practical, realistic aproach to the game. He states early in the book that, "I won't guarantee you will consitently beat the MINUS FACOR of HOUSE EDGE of the casino, or any other form of bank craps. WHAT I WILL GUARANTEE, is that should anything in the way of a hand or shoot pake place, "YOU WILL GET THE MONEY." -p. 6, 1990 edition

Can we really expect any more than this from any author? To give us methods for maximizing our winnings and minimizing our losses?

My offer extends to you, as well, jhpa. If you buy "The Dice Doctor," read it, give Sam's methods a serious try at whaterver bets you choose (and he covers them ALL), and don't think that they improve your play, send me a PM and after you forward me a detached title page, I will personally refund your money.

No false promises. No guarantees that you'll ever have a winning bet. Simply that your craps play will be improved. Now, that's an offer at least you can break even on!

I just finished the Dice Doctor read, and I really enjoyed the advice.

The best part is he is not selling a system. He covers alot of strategies, good or bad, and often reminds us that most are bad..

In a nutshell, the book will help you with step by step parlaying and progressive betting tips(that can be used on all table games), his basic top 5 plays, and if you do insist in playing the sucker bets.(place bets/field rolls/buy bets/hardways) He gives some good advice on how to play them as good as you can. He often repeats that, if you insist on playing the bad house odd bets, and being a idiot, atleast wager it this way........

The man is like your Dad telling you that something is bad for you, but if you are so stupid to do-it, then he feels bad if he does not give you the best advice to reduce the losses.

Once again thanks for the link.
