I am sure this has been asked before, but this is a fast moving board and I couldn't see a thread.

I have $80 in RC through playing SR. Is there a list anywhere of the restaurants that accept them?

I am guessing the buffets would. What about Gordon Ramsay Steak?

I think that Mon Ami Gabi is out as that is independently owned. Is that correct?

    Thanks

You can also use them at Mon Ami Gabi, but you have to go to the TR desk and ask for a voucher.

The 2 most notable ones are Mon Abi Gabi and Effle Tower Restaurant in Paris. I can't think of any others that won't accept them.

I have heard you can go to the rewards deck and ask for a voucher for these places. I have never done that though.

How does that work? Do you ask for a predetermined amount of $ to kind of use as a gift certificate? Does it only come in multiples of 10? If you don't use up the total amount, is it lost? Can we use it against tax and tip? (Sorry for so many questions - I was planning on eating at MAG on TR/SR points, but we'll see.)

Also, how far is the TR desk from MAG? Maybe after we know what the final bill comes to, one of us could sneak out, get the voucher, and use it to pay?

    thanks!

The TR desk is in Paris and it is just a little bit inside the casino from MAG.

You can get a voucher for any amount you want, but you will have to use it all at once. So estimate low. And it cannot be used for tip, not sure how tax works in that situation.

Yes, one could technically run out to get a voucher after receiving the bill, but that just seems a little pathetic to me. There could be a line and it could end up taking 15 minutes too. If you are concerned about how much you'll have to pay out of pocket, scope out the menu ahead of time.

I have done this a few times for Mon Ami Gabi - you can ask for a certain amount ($20, $50 etc). I am not sure what the exact increments are because I never asked. If you do not use the entire voucher within a period of time (something like 48 hours) the unused points go back to your card. I can't recall if the voucher covered tax but I am pretty sure you cannot use it for tips.

The Total Rewards desk is not far from Mon Ami Gabi at all - it is just a short walk away on the same side of the casino.

A while back I was told by the representative at the desk that if I did not use the entire voucher, the unused portion would revert back to my TR card. I did not use the whole thing and the unused points did go back on my card after a couple of days.

I don't know if the policy has changed, but that is the way it was at the time...

    * I just did a quick internet search and found a post where someone had the same experience - it is the second poster from the bottom of the page - it's good to know if this is still the policy when redeeming a voucher!

What I simply do is charge EVERY meal to my room and then use points before I check out (my Host usually takes care of it for me though)

I'm pretty sure EVERY restaurant in all of the CET properties will let you charge the bill to your room. For example I just stayed at Caesars in early Feb and charged our lunch at Mon Ami Gabi to our room at Caesars, same with GR steak at Paris, and BurGR @ Pho.

Using this method, you only need to "use" your points once, at check out!

If you charge to the room I think you pay taxes on your meal. We have gone to the TR desk after our meal and gotten a voucher for the exact amount of the meal. You can't use points for tip. You have to pay that in cash. If you get a voucher for your meal, as has been said, any unused portion will be returned to your TR card.

Good to know! I had heard differently, but I'd never done it myself so it didn't matter to me. Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks all. Very helpful. I actually have all of my TR points through SocialRewards and am not staying at a Caesar's property, so will have to go the voucher route. From the most recent postings regarding TR (last few months?), it seems more and more that you are now having to pay taxes on your TR meals. We'll see.

We've never paid taxes when paying with comps at the POS. As long as you hand them your TR card & you have comps available, they will use them no matter where you stay...

Thank you all so much for the additional information. That is very useful.

I hadn't considered the Eiffel Tower restaurant and we have never tried it so it might be a good time to spurlge on TR dollar!

Yes, you can get a voucher ahead of time for MAG or Eiffel Tower.

Yes, the remainder goes back on your card.

Yes, if you charge a meal to the room, you will have to pay the taxes even if you are deducting them from

Yes almost always, at POS when you pay with comp $, the tax isn't charged. I noticed it was at Earl of Sandwich. That may just have been someone pushing the wrong button, because it was the first time it happened.
