So many artists I enjoy. Some, maybe only one song, others, I own every album. I wouldn't know where to start such a list.

    But interesting thread.

OK, I'll just start with the first that come to mind.
    Eagles
    Steely Dan
    Springsteen
    James Taylor
    Bob Seager
Sinatra -all of the Reprise collection
    Billy Joel
    Mellencamp
    Meat Loaf
    Paul Simon
    Simon & Garfunkel
    Queen
    Elvis
    Beatles
    Bonnie Rait

I just realized I could list another 40-50 artists and still not reach the end of my playlist. People I would pay money to see, everybody I consider a "legend".

EDIT: Just looked at my iTunes list. 4,720 songs and i like all of them!

    What are the rules?

So does the artist have to be dead or the band broken up?

In any case I'd go with:

    Duran Duran
    Cheap Trick
    Beastie Boys
    Gun and Roses (original lineup)
    Radiohead

I'm a one-hit wonder fanatic so Legends isn't really my format.

Can't believe Clapton hasn't been mentioned as an individual performer yet. Saw him in 2006 and it was an amazing show. One of my all time favorite artists.
