What are some activities that you enjoy and usually do on your trips that are not the typical activities usually mentioned on the board?

    These are mine...
    1. Tour Hotels I normally tour hotels like off-strip hotels, timeshares and condos, as well as inns and motels. I figure I want to view these places before I try them or I am learning whether they would make a good alternative on an expensive weekend/period in Vegas.

    2. Multiple-Hotel Stay Ironically I also stay in several hotels on my trips because I like trying different places and it gives me a sense of whether I would return. This gives me the feeling of a multi-vacation vacation. Staying at multiple hotels is an activity all it's own because I take lots of pictures when I enter and look forward to writing about them when I write my trip report. Note that recently I learned that this was only feasible when I am going with extremely light luggage like a backpack and a purse and not with full-on rolly-poley-oley luggage.

    3. $1 massages You know those black $1 massage chairs scattered about in CET properties? I love those. So far in Vegas I have had a massage in two shops and one spa on the strip and all of them were not very good. In fact, I left all of these places more tense than I came. These chairs give me a quick fix for 5 minutes for 1 buck. I wouldn't say it takes off the weight of the world but it sure is fun and ironically it's better than the more expensive massages I have had.

    4. Exploring new neighborhoods I took a bus to different parts of Vegas and its outskirts. i can safely say that without a car, it is not worth it and some places feel very seedy to walk in or to wait for the bus in. If I drove in vegas, I would head to Green Valley Ranch, M Resort, Red Rock, Sunset Station, and Arizona Charlie's. I would not mind staying at Tahiti Village. I have done plenty of exploring of other neighborhoods but they all lead me back to the strip.

    5. Adventuredome I am getting too old to stomach roller coasters but everything else?...Fair game! Throw in a circus, some midway games and an arcade...well this helps me relive my childhood.

    6. Women-are-free pools Free is good...very good. Plenty of pools in Vegas let women in complimentary whether they are staying at the hotel or not. And since I love to explore and I love pools, it's perfect for me. Rio, Caesars and Palms pools are great for this!

Walk up/down the strip in the morning and check out other CET and play some games not found in our home casino.

My wife has to check out the Ross store and now Marshalls each trip.

We have crossed off going to play the Lion Share machine due to all the notoriety.

Agreed! Reminds me that I'm truly on vacation and have a full day of fun and relaxation ahead of me.

I also like to walk around Las Vegas in the early morning. But Downtown, because I like Downtown and the casinos are close together.

I usually get a coffee from Starbucks, Lapperts, or Mcdonalds (coffee is coffee to me, I usually buy the standard cup, no fancies...) and walk around, checking out new slot machines and VP paytables, and watch the dealers chatting at empty craps and card tables, the vacuum machine man maneuvering around the rows of machines, pit critters tallying up the previous nights take and getting chips ready for a new day. I try to figure out what few gamblers still on the casino floor are degenerates from the night before or are early birds just starting their gambling day.

As strange as this seems, I find a unique entertainment from this. After checking out the casinos I like to sit at a nickel DDB machine and play slowly just to while the time away, until it's time to go up to the room and get my wife who at this time is up and ready to start a new day with me.

Last trip we walked from Mandalay Bay to the downtown and had lunch at Pizza Rock. That was rather random.

Going to the botanical garden and the aquarium are must do's on every trip. Although the aquarium seems to get shorter and shorter the more I see it. I also love to take a ton of pics. I will look for interesting architecture, displays, flowers, birds, people....Pretty much anything that I find interesting to the eye, especially during the fall/winter.

Never noticed these before, but after walking 104 miles a day that sure sounds nice. Any in Bally's?

I am not sure about Ballys....I think I have seen them in the back of Harrahs and Quad near the entrance to the monorail at the back. There are also some near the Divas theatre upstairs at Quad. These are probably the best because it's a quiet place during all other hours except showtime.

    Reverse Happy Hour at Margaritaville

We're from the east coast so we have a hard time adjusting to the time change. Couple that with all the drinking - which makes me tired for a nap, and then wide awake at 4am.

So my husband and I love to walk down to the Margaritaville casino when we can't sleep in the early morning hours. The 5 O'Clock Somewhere bar does reverse happy hour from 2am-10am. We'll head down around 5 or 6 am and get a couple of $5 margaritas. Then head over to their craps table while the minimum is still $5 and no one else is playing yet. We have the craps table to ourselves for an hour or two....once people start showing up around 8:00am I'm usually feeling the affect of very little sleep and tequila for breakfast, so we go get real breakfast, and then head back to the room for a nap - and then start the day for real!

We get the weirdest looks when we tell people back home that we were drunk by 7am. Vegas baby!!

When staying downtown, going under the canopy in the morning. Especially after being there the night before. People pushing brooms, picking up trash and barely anyone there. It is so peaceful

I am always searching for an empty table. You have me a good idea for my next trip. Oh, that and the drinking early morning as I am from the East Coast too.:beer:

In our younger days, we stayed at the Luxor the year it opened, and walked to the Hard Rock. From there, we walked up Paradise to the Riviera, and walked back down the Strip returning to the Luxor. We have driven around Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire, did the Hoover Dam canyon river raft ride down the river, and taken the bus ride to Laughlin.

Now ... we sleep in our free room, have a free breakfast, play video poker, do coupon runs all over town, do more video poker, have a free dinner, maybe more video poker ... and then fall asleep in front of our room TV.
Next morning, we start all over, and repeat the formula .... we're older now. :evillaugh

Although I stay on the strip, I do the same thing. Pretty neat to see others with the same interest.
