We are thinking of seeing David Copperfield in April. Any feedback on the show? Seating suggestions?

We went in 2010 and the plan was to go to the late show, we went to get tickets early evening before going to get something to eat, they said that they had front row tickets for the early show so we changed our plans and went to the early show. It was a great show and some amazing illusions, I certainly recommend it.

He hasn't changed his show in some time and the illusions-to-ticket price is something that bugged me the last time I saw him.

Copperfield just spends far too much time patting himself on the back in the show. I would have preferred less chatter and more actual illusion.

I saw his show 4 years ago and had front row seats. I booked as early as I could because I was pretty excited to see him again. The only thing that bugged me about the seats was the shared table seating. We were right on top of a couple of strangers.

I had caught his show one other time in St. Louis SEVERAL years earlier and most of the illusions were the same. I was disppointed in that. The show was still amazing but I knew what was coming most of the time. It took away some of the "magic" (not that I knew how he did his tricks, but I knew the outcome). I was much farther back last time I saw him so seeing everything that close up was very cool.

If you've never seen his show before, i'd go without a 2nd thought. If you have, then it's not as easy of a decision. I enjoyed myself, and even with the higher ticket price and seeing the show before, I was glad I went.

Agreed, go see him if you haven't before, it's a good show. But in recent years he has changed very little. And yeah, he sure does love himself.

Before the show started there was a woman going round to each table at the front asking people to make sure they stood up and applauded at the end so he would do an encore

I had a long conversation (an interview actually) with Lance Burton many years ago. And while he chose his words carefully it was very clear that Copperfield is not well regarded amongst others in the profession.

When I was a kid I saw Copperfield in Chicago when he was in a play called The Magic Man (he was 18). I don't remember much about it except it fascinated me and I took up magic right after :)

Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread. As stated above go see him if you haven't before.

Saw him last year, my first time, it was a good show, but glad I paid half price for them ... Illusions were good, but something you would see any non big name perform ... Agree with all the other posters about him being full of himself :(

They said the same thing to us. We were also asked if we were part of the media in any way. I was curious what would happen if I said yes.

I did some research about the show for our next trip.

    Summary of the reviews....
If you have never seen him give it a try.
If you have seen him before (even 10+ years ago) not much has really changed.

Others have commented about him being an egotist and people really pushing the audience to cheer.

If I am paying those prices I should have the right to decide on my own to applaud or not and how loud. :peace:

We opted to skip his show.

Not a big surprise considering he had a competing show and not nearly as successful as David. Lance Burton doesn't seem as comfortable as Copperfield on stage. If you have never seen Copperfield or not seen him in a long time I would recommend it.

I wonder if the Burt Wonderstone character was based on Copperfield?

If your seeing him for the first time you will enjoy the show. He is heavy on entertainment between the Magic acts so not a fast magic show with tricks back to back. But very enjoyable. Have a good time.

Anyone have any suggestions on were the best place to get tickets would be? There is 8 of us, and we will be going in the middle of July. Does not matter if go to the late, or early show. Thanks

I've seen him multiple times in various locations over the years. Been a fan since I was a kid. His vegas show is great if you've never seen him before, however last time I saw him he really seemed to be just going thru the motions. That kinda ruined the show for me. Just my 2 cents.
