Okay, gang. This Vegas veteran has a newbie question, or two (or three).

Looks like I'm finally going to get around to seeing Absinthe. And I'm hoping to be able to squeeze a nice dinner into the evening. We've decided to do the (7:30) show first so we don't have to rush through dinner. But now I'm trying to figure out the logistics.

    So, questions 1 & 2:

Does Absinthe follow the Vegas norm of 90 minute shows?

Is the show big enough to seriously back up CP's cab lines (none of us have any status with CET)?

And, if the answers to #'s 1 & 2 mean that staying within the CP complex is the only way to get a good meal before an ungodly hour...

Question 3: Can you recommend somewhere nice-ish at CP? I don't think the group wants Italian and three of us have already had the misfortune of eating at Ramsay's joint, so that's a no go. But everything else (but the food court and buffet) is on the table.

    Many thanks!

    Yes--90 minutes or less.

No-- cab lines will not be affected by the show. The show itself doesn't seat that many people. You should have no problem getting out of there; especially if its a weeknight.

If you end up eating at Caesars anyway, I recommend Mesa Grill.

BTW--Absinthe is best show in Vegas IMO

    Agree with the above.

It doesn't pack large numbers of people; part of what makes the show up close and personal feeling. You should enjoy it, best show imo.

    Absinthe is the best show.

It shouldn't back up the line at the cab unless it coincides with a concert in the coliseum letting out at the same time. If that happens, walk across to the Flamingo and catch a cab there.

And I can recommend either Trevi or Carmines in Forum shops. Or Rao's in Caesars if price isnt an issue. (I like Italian)

    Enjoy

I'll just add another vote to YES on Absinthe, best show I've seen.

Well good. It sounds like we should have plenty of options. But in case we decide to stay put at CP, keep the recommendations coming, please!

The night is also at the tail end of Conexpo (which is ginormous…but ends that day so probably won’t make a huge difference) and right in the middle of NASCAR weekend. So cab lines will probably be a bit longer than usual anyway.

Good point. I will check to see what else is going on that night.

If you can not pick a place at Caesars itself, there are places in the mall.

Also, Bellagio is very close. Walk out, up the steps and over the highway and you are inside Bellagio. Lots of choices there as well.

Indeed. And I know a decent amount about other restaurant choices in the area. And we may end up making the short walk to one of the surrounding casinos. But I’m sure there are good places at CP and for some reason I’m just not very familiar with CP – I probably “know” Caesars less than any other casino on the strip.

Hi carve. If you do not want Italian, there's old homestead steak house but only eaten at the one at the borgata in Atlantic city, and palm steakhouse in the forum shops. Also Mesa grill which is close to the sports book and you also have joes stone crab in the forum shops which is awesome.

Good point about Bellagio. Absinthe is very close to that corner, you'll be at Bellagio very very quickly.

The Absinthe tent is as close to the restaurants in Bellagio than the restaurants in Caesars, and much closer than The Forum restaurants.

Funny how the Strip is like that. When I stay at Casino Royale, my room is always closer to the Harrah's casino than rooms at Harrah's. And sometimes closer to the Mirage's casino than rooms at the Mirage.

Just got back (less than 2 weeks ago) from a 5 day stay at Caesars.....

You should MOST DEFINETLY try Mesa Grill, fantastic meal options and reasonably priced....you will love it!

If you're staying at an MGM property, eat at Bellagio so you can charge to your room and get the Tier Credits (and possibly comped).

If you're not staying at a CET property and you give them your TR card at a restaurant at Caesars to get a discount or Tier Credits, they'll know you were there.

Is Conexpo the Construction type convention? I work for a General Engineering Contractor and have seen postcards that say something along those lines....

    Sorry to derail

Yes. It’s a construction and agriculture show. I think it’s held every three years. I usually attend, but the construction and agriculture part of my business isn’t all that big anymore so I just decided to go out for the NASCAR race this year.

If you get a chance to go sometime, it really is quite a spectacle. Some seriously big toys on display there!

Yeah I'd like to be able to go, but I'm sure I couldn't get the boss to spring for it... If I was management maybe but I'm just the dispatcher here.

Although the machinery that we use (we are a grading/earthmoving company) fascinates me. We have equipment from some of the largest scrapers (or earthmovers in lay terms) down to small under 25hp bobcats and such. Some day while I'm in town I'd like to do the "Dig This!" day and drive a dozer...

When we saw Absinthe, the show started and ended late so I would allow some exta time. NOBU is a place we enjoyed in Ceasars and is open late. We also like Fix at Bellagio which also serves later than the other restaurants in Bellagio.

The early show generally starts on time, but the late show can start late and go long. The show is about 75 minutes.

Like a lot of others have said - Absinthe is my favorite show in Vegas.

That being said, you couldn't ask for a better location for being able to escape to any restaurant in that general area on the strip. You can walk out of that show and you are literally on the strip, within walking distance to Bellagio, CP, etc and Paris isn't terribly far either.

If you must cab it, I can't see that crowd overloading them at CP.
