In your opinion....what is the best restaurant in the downtown area....preferably not a steakhouse, I've done enough of those!

Without any more specifics, it is a bit of challenge. Chart House would be the nicest in my opinion, Triple George is less expensive but not a formal place.

Price is not an issue, but I would like to hear about great experiences with some great food. I like it all, just noticed a lot of steakhouses downtown and would like some other options other than steak....doesn't mean I won't go there, I'm just familiar with them already.

You should get a ton of responses, as everybody has different tastes. Haven't made it to every downtown restaurant yet.
So far my favorites are...drum roll please.....

    Breakfast/lunch: eat. (7th and Carson)

    Dinner: Le Thai (East Fremont)

Agree! Nothing fancy, just two nice eateries with variety.

I like this one also. A little more upscale but offers variety, nice ambience. Try the Chateaubriand and lobster tails for two!

Downtown to avoid a typical steakhouse I would recommend:

2nd Street Grille at the Fremont. This has a nice French/Hawaiian twist to the menu.
Andiamos at the D. Upscale Italian/Steakhouse.
Chart House at the GN. Good seafood.
Triple George. Eclectic menu in a cool atmosphere.

    Cheers

How much are they? A reviewer on Yelp said they charge "tourist prices".

I've only been downtown a couple times but we really liked Pizza Rock! Great pizza, so many fun options, relaxed atmosphere.

I have favorites in categories downtown, for a quick eat that is delicious and good priced try Magnolias in the 4Queens, or Binions Cafe.

For a little bit nicer experience but not overpriced try Triple 7 Brewery in Main Street Station.

I also like quick eats at Pop Up Pizza in the Plaza and Hash House a Go Go in the Plaza as well for enormous portions of twisted farm food as they call it!

A short stack is like $5.99 maybe, large stack like $7-8.99 maybe? If you get their players card in the GG you can get a coupon to play like 200 pts and you get a free order though!

The best restaurant downtown that is not a steakhouse?

Take a piece of paper & some tape to the D Casino.

Go up the escalator to the second floor.

    Enter Andiamos Italian Steakhouse.

Tape the piece of paper over the steak selections.

NOW you have the best restaurant in downtown Las Vegas which is not a steakhouse!
