The last time I was in Vegas I had to make a trip to the CVS on Paradise. I took East Harmon from the strip and noticed on the left hand side of East Harmon near Koval there was a fenced off area. A sign on the fence said something like this property reserved for Hotel/Casino something and then I noticed it had WYNN printed on it. Anyone know what this is about, is Steve Wynn planning something new?

I know at one point in the Hard Rock's heyday they had plans to take over the large apartment complex just to the west of where the HRH Tower now sits on Harmon. Their plan showed condos being built there. That's just shy of the property you're alluding to though.

Wynn isn't building anything in Vegas. He is mostly focused on Macau.

I was surprised to see the sign it clearly had stated on its "This property reserved for Casino/Hotel usage", then it stated Wynn on it. Not sure, I will take a picture next time I'm there.

That site! Well, that sign about hotel/casino usage has been there for at least a couple years. I assume that the sign is merely advertising to let buyers know that the site is zoned for casino/hotel use. If Wynn (or anyone else) has purchased the site, it doesn't mean it will be used for that

I was the impression that was one of the stalled projects of the big crash?? Never head Wynn's name involved. It is a mammoth place they had reserved. I walked by a couple weeks ago. It hasnt changed in the last few years or so.

Wikipedia says Starwood now owns the lot and had plans for a W hotel. I think one of the bloggers report they are going to start building it soon.

Leo, I think the W project was to be on Flamingo, not the Harmon lot. 2 different cancelled casinos.

Leo, 2 projects, but both on Harmon, although I think the W property may extend to Flamingo?
    From the RV:
W Las Vegas was first proposed in 2005 for 22 acres on the northeast corner of Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane. It was billed as a $2.5 billion mixed-use project with 3,000 hotel-condominium units, 10 restaurants and nightclubs, a 75,000-square-foot casino, 300,000 square feet of convention and meeting space, a Fred Segal fashion emporium and a spa. It was to open in 2008.

The Edge Group had bought the land from home builder D.R. Horton for $108 million. The W Las Vegas was to neighbor the 4,000-unit hotel-condominium project, Las Ramblas, tied to actor George Clooney and nightclub magnate Rande Gerber. But poor unit sales forced Las Ramblas' cancellation and it sold 25 acres and entitlements to the Edge Group for $202 million in June 2006.

Looking at that pic, is that an open door? I am sure dirty Mike and the boys are making that place a "soup kitchen"

If you have seen The Other Guys, you get it.
