Vegas Burn Out

I spent my birthday at Bellagio. Feb 12th - 15th. Although I had a good time I think it's time to back off for awhile. I'm not feeling it like I used to.
Who knows I may go back later in the year but I was just there for New Years 2013, 4th Of July, TGVing, Christmas and now Valentines Day 2014.
It could very well be I've got Vegas Burn Out. Has anyone else felt like that?

 

yes i have...the cure for that is to switch it up, start doing different stuff while you are there, and staying different places. my new thing is that i time my vegas trips when a touring band comes to vegas, so i get to see a concert when im in town as well as getting the vegas experience.

 

Been there for a while. We just way overdid it for years. It was fun, but things change. Now cutting so far back, traveling so much all over, we're way excited by whenever it is we'll next get to town. There's some nice upside to that.

For us, it takes far more than salt and pepper in the travel spice cabinet to make it all taste better.

 

I've definitely "over done it" on several occasions and thought on the way back, "time to send someone else down next month"... but it usually only takes me a week before I'm over whatever guilt I was feelin' at the time.

 

A friend once told me:

"I am over Las Vegas"

It happens.

Preventing burn out is one of the reasons I only go once a year. Ever trip I am just as pumped as the first time I went.

 

Well you have went 5 times in just over a year, that equals out to once every two and a half months or so. I think any place can burn you out if you go too much. I get to go once a year, maybe twice every 5-6 years, and I cant imagine even beginning to get burned out at that pace! Everything in moderation, whether its Vegas, alcohol, etc, you over do anything it gets old quick!

 

Well, I live next to an Indian Reservation, so it's sort of hard for me to get burned out there. The fact that Vegas has a pizzeria and a target is enough to keep me going for years: all the other great stuff--beautiful women, clubs, pawn shops, thrift shops, discount clothing stores such as burlington coat factory or tj maxx/marshalls, gourmet food and high end coffee, much at reasonable prices--is just jimmies and sprinkles.

I was a little jacked the first time my car started breaking down (only in Vegas) and swore I'd never go back. Also, I have a lot more trouble finding good banh mis there than I would have expected.

NO - but we only get 2 trips a year..... we count down the days until the next trip & have for years.

Most definitely. I was in Vegas a lot from 2010 to 2012. I even lived there (Henderson) for a few months to see if I like it there. By 2013 though I was only in Vegas three times. Somehow this year I got the Vegas bug again!

Definitely understand about Vegas burn out. Things got too familiar so I needed new places to visit. Nothing to do with gambling as well.

 

I took six trips to Vegas last year. The last one, in December, was sort of semi-climatic...just didn't get the usual vibe. I thought about dialing it down this year....yeah, I thought about it for about 2 days then booked a solo trip in March and then a guys trip in early May...talk about degenerate.....

 

every winning trip, I want to go back ASAP
every losing trip, burned out for about a week and curse the place as I leave. but I have a short memory and want to go back to gamble.

if vegas is purely a gambling destination and the rest is 2ndary then its more about bankroll than being tired of going.

if partying is the primary goal then I can see how I would get burn out.

I generally get burned out for about 1 week after returning. After that, I am ready to go back.

As fk said, after a winning trip, I want to go back right away. After a loosing trip, it takes a few weeks for me wanting to go back.

 

I got burned out on the Strip itself over 10 years ago, so started staying off-Strip and rent a car. I enjoy Vegas now more than I ever did on the Strip. I love zipping all over town on a whim. Or I take a day trip to Laughlin, Mesquite, Primm, Boulder Damn, or Lake Mead. I've never set a schedule for myself.

I usually go on the Strip for a few hours on one of the trips per year and realize why I stopped going on the Strip.

I did used to go to Vegas 3-4 times a year, but overall Vegas lost some of its luster over the years with all the corporations, so I reduced my trips to once or twice per year and the longer time between trips makes the vacation more special.

 

This is so true for me. Because I love to gamble, the health of my bankroll will dictate how often I go. Constantly losing and depleting the bankroll will definitely "burn" me out and make me not want to go.

However, this is not because I'm "tired" of Vegas. As long as I have the means (bankroll), I would want to return to Vegas.

 

I do sometimes, not too much lately though. Like said above I just change it up. I listen to the podcasts, and follow Vital Vegas, I get so many new ideas for my trips! Stay somewhere else. Eat at new places. Last year I planned my trips better, I went to a lot of shows. Changed who I went on my trips with (so they were more enjoyable for me). I was much happier. Versus the trips where I have no plan of action and it turns into "what do you wanna do" I don't know what do you wanna do?"

At the end of last year I realized I didn't go anywhere but Vegas I was a little bummed... but you know Vegas has kinda become my home away from home. I know I get to go there to relax and have fun, and escape from my super busy life!

Also seriously, try planning a trip somewhere else where a 4 star hotel is $225 a night and airfare is $400, you will run back to Vegas haha. :evillaugh

 

I haven't gone the 100s of times like many members here but I wouldn't want to go more than twice a year, if that.

Also, I go with many friends every time. Just being with them makes it fun. We go cabins with no power and water and have fun so Vegas is a given for fun.

I like going different places especially the Caribbean.

 

After about 37 years of doin Vegas, the only thing that might contribute to me having Vegas burnout the last few years is the doubling of flight prices.

Having always loved the scenery combination of desert/mountains, once I land and get to the taxi line, my whole body seems to relax, as if I'm "back home".

This doesn't have anything to do with the changes on The Strip, which is a whole new subject entirely.

 

Back in the 80s, I had this semi-incredible winning streak working...ended up going 9 times in 1983 and another 5 times in 1984...each trip ended up paying for the next one, so I had a "why not?" mindset.
I got a little burned out after that, especially since it all ended with my worst loss ever in Vegas. The 'burn-out' only lasted about 6 months though.

Other than that? Nope. I love going, and as was mentioned up-thread, it always feels like a home-away-from-home to me.

 

I switch it up all the time. I stay at different resorts, go to shows and concerts do lots
of casino hopping and sometimes I'll rent a car and take a day trip for some sightseeing.
